Bara
All of this happens more or less at the same time.
Don't just run trough this. Play the fights. More fun that way.
Guardsman Arcas lay under a camo blanket and looked into the darkness trough the IR rifle-scope.
He had chosen a spot of high ground from where he could overlook a small road winding trough a field of scrap metal and machine parts.
The metal chunks created shadows that appeared on the scope as black spots of total darkness.
Anything moving in there would light up like a torch.
He had been in this position since nightfall and according to his chronometer day would come soon.
He lay and waited and listened to the breathing of his spotter who kept an eye out on their surroundings.
At the HQ commander Bacchus looked at the 3-dimensional map in front of him.
Holographic images showed the positions of entrenched solders, artillery positions and the current whereabouts of the patrols he had send away.
Also the Tau positions featured prominent on the screen. They had taken a foothold on the southern part of the continent.
they were not moving, but that was a bad sign. "Probably reinforcing their positions."
He would have to take care of that later.
He had put the Whirlwind units at the outer edge and formed a second circle closer to HQ with the artillery batteries.
The Adeptus mechanicus entered the command bunker that had been erected overnight from prefabricated parts by the combat engineers.
“I have the analysis for you Commander” the adeptus said.
“It seems that those “Mining villages” are mere collection points and trade posts.
It seems that the mineral is spread throughout the surface and is mined by machines travelling about the planet.”
Bracchus took the information with a nod.
“That much about securing the mines”, he thought.
Now he would have to secure each of those mining units one by one.
But at least by conquering the trade posts he would get hold of the already mined resources.
The dreadnought “Starslayer” was moving closer to the Tau warship.
“Open fire on maximum distance. Maybe we can get in a lucky shot” the Captain Armand ordered.
The gun technicians tended to their fire control panels and within seconds the mighty cannons swung towards the target sending ultra hot beams of plasma towards the enemy vessel.
The batteries fire was followed by a barrage of anti-ship missiles.
Hopefully the fire from the energy weapons had blinded the Tau sensors long enough to prevent anti missile barrages and keep their gunners from locking on.
Captain hailed the smaller troop transport.
“Fortress of Heaven I want you to engage the Tau landing forces and cut off their supply lines.” He said.
"We understand Starslayer" Captain Xerxes replied.
"But we will need another quarter fragment to round the planet."
The intention here is to take the Tau ship in a pincer movement. I will have the troop transport attack their drop ships while the dreadnought attacks the main vessel/ vessels.
Also i will take time off to re-read some info about the imperial guard. God it's almost 20 years since I last played WH40K
