Title: Battle for Selgrix
Post by: Bara on December 04, 2007, 11:44:44 PM
Selgrix is a planet located in the Northeastern area of space. It had been home to Descendants of Prisoners, left here for over 5,000 Years, live in here in the Vast Wasteland, where they fight over whatever scarps of technology they can. However, they have 1 mineral that changes the Fate of Selgrix. Katch. Its lighter, then most metals, and can be used as Fuel. Armys of the Impeuim, Tau, and Choas Arrive in this world, in order to take the Planet for there own. Yet, the natives, refuse to back down, thus beginning, the battle for Selgrix

"We have reached orbit Commander" The captain of the Imperial troop transport "Fortress of Heaven" turned towards the Guards Leader. "And it seems that we are the first. The Imperial Dreadnought "Starslayer" will keep an eye out for other forces. They will alarm us should anyone else arrive in this system."
"My men are ready to embark on this glorious mission Captain. And I thank you for taking us here. May the Emperor be with you." the Guardsman answered.
"And with you" the Captain replied turning towards the Master of the guns.
"Ready the batteries for orbital bombardment. We will clear a landing zone for our troops."

Guard Commander Bracchus was already on his way down to the hangars were his men were already waited inside the drop-ships. And soon they would make planet-fall.

The locals began there day as usal. Waking up in there tents, and eating breakfast. But, today, there were these strange men droping from the sky. Men...from somehwere else.

"What the..."

Then, a large pod type thing crashed right into the Camp, sending everybody running towards there Tents. The Warriors had already grabbed there weapons, ready to kill the Metal Beast. They charged, and were cut down. Men stepped out. The woman and children huddled together, hoping they wouldn't be killed. The men from the beast began speaking, and then turened there sights towards the Women and Childern. Then, they stoped. They stood straight up, and men walked toawrds to injured warriors, and nursed them back to health. Then, a Apperntly high ranking member walked out. He pointed towards the Peolpe. He then made a therating motion. He helped the warriors back up, and tried to speak with them.

"Do...you...speak....Imperial?"

The warriors coked there heads, and tryed to make the nosies the strange man was making.

"Doz...ou...eak...imp?"

"Yes. Do you know where we are?"

"We...iz...in...da...Wastes"

"Thank you. Do you know a way to a settlement?"

"Yez...we...guide....healers...."

"Thank you."

The warriors simled. Then, quick as lighting, began attacking the soldiers with Axes and kinfes. They were cut down. Soon, the enitre camp was aflame. The Flame could be seen for miles, and more and more fires joined. Selgrix, was under attack.

"Commander Shas'O Kais, the infidel fleet has appeared already and is landing soldiers on the northern part of the largest continent. What are your orders?" asked the Tau pilot. The Tau Empire had arrived to claim the planet for the Greater Good. The minerals on the planet would be valuble on the Tau's crusade to spread the Greater Good. Shas'O Kail, the hero of the Empire for leading the Tau Empire in retaking Kronus. Shas'O looked over at the pilot. "We are prepared to land our troops on southern part of the largest continent. So prepare to launch the soldiers and all of our equipment." The pilot nodded. "For the Greater Good." he saluted.

"For the Greater Good." Commander Shas'O walked down to the hanger bay where the troops were prepared, he could see the thousands of Fire Caste Tau, Kroot, Verpids, and humans weapons at the ready. Massive battlesuits of all types were just finishing getting into the landing ships. Other vehicles were already ready to go. The soldiers looked up and lifted up their weapons and cried out. "For the Greater Good!" Commander Shas'O smiled and answered with the same words. He then prepared himself into his own battlesuit. The Tau had arrived.

The Warboss looked at his crude map. He didnt know what was going on, but his scouts have been telling him about some Men from the Sky, killing his people. He stood up, showing his scarred skin, mutated from years in the wasteland.

"Light the Warfires. We need the Horde"

The Scout did as he was told, and lit the fire. Soon, the next town lit there fire. and the next. and the next. The horde was coming. And the Horde, doesnt like to play nice.

"Scanners report another vessel within range op the planet Sire" the Adeptus manning the seeker systems called out.
"Warcomp identifies it as a Tau warship." he added.
Captain Armand of the Imperial dreadnought "Starslayer" turned towards the monitors.
"Battle alert" he said.
"Gunnery Master prepare all weapons. Helmsman set a course toward the enemy. Seekers call as soon as we reach firing range."
The bridge of the huge warship came alive.
Like an ants nest the crewmen ran about. But to any professional there seemingly random movement showed great organization and purpose.
The huge ship fired it's main engines, fighting against the planets gravity to turn about and face the enemy that had approached.
"Sire there are multiple smaller units coming from the ship. Possible landing craft."
"Inform the Guards about the enemies arrival" the Captain told the Mechanicus at the comm console.

On the ground Commander Bracchus stood amidst the burning carnage of what had been a small village.
His drop pod had come down outside the safe zone the orbital bombardment had cleared.
The villagers had proved primitive and barely human.
Now that he took the time to look at their corpses closer he saw several mutations, clearly a blasphemy on the pureness of the human race.
"For the sake of the empire those unclean creatures must be purged. " he tought.
"But first things first"
He turned towards his men.
"Form a perimeter and get our troops over here. Try and find any units that got diverted away from the drop zone ASAP.
we will make our HQ here."
His commlink crackled to life.
"This is the Imperial Dreadnought " Starslayer" calling the Imperial guard. A Tau warship has entered the system. Several landing ships are on their way inbound. we will engage the enemy. Ready for their approach. Coordinates will follow."
"All men assemble as fast as you can. Send the closest troops to move ahead and reinforce our position on this spot." Commander Bracchus told his officers pointing on a map.
"The Tau will land here. Don't let the alien scum approach our positions. And unload the artillery. The sooner we can engage them the better."
Behind the Commander drop-ships touched down and Land Raiders in guard colors rolled away from their transports.
Engineers deployed cratering charges to build up positions for the artillery and troops.

Altough it takes a while for the Horde to arrive, the Smaller militia troops began attacking the Outsiders. When ever a group first lands, they quickly overrun them by sheerforce of numbers. After they are dead, they take there armour, hoping that they will have a better chance agisnt there weapons. Then, one milita group found these huge, hulking beasts, with these large shotguns. only 1 manged to surive. out of a 40 man group, 1 lived. By nighfall, most of the militas had fell back to there towns, expect 1. They re-orginzed themselves into the "Ghost Rangers", and began raiding the Outsiders. By then, the horde had assmbled. And, a new therat have arrived. Somepeolpe shouting "For the Greater Good."

The damn planet wasn't as easy to take as the imperial tacticians had believed.
Several of those inbred mutants had attacked scout units with quite some unexpected success.
Commander Bracchus had reorganized the patrols, sending out Land Raiders to scout ahead. they had enemy contact and made short work of them.
Those lousy pests had salvaged, no stolen, imperial equipment and dared using it against his own man. He was furious.
he looked at the map in front of him.
"I don't care for the villages. Bomb them if you have too" he shouted into his comlink, looking at the holographic images of his lieutenants.
"I only want those mines. Capture them undamaged. Destroy anything else if you have to."
The land raiders would advance toward the mining communities in assault lines supported from the rear by artillery.
However he could not forget the Tau units that had landed. he advanced his scout units in that sector to keep an eye on them. while night had fallen they had not advanced from their positions, or so it seemed. No one could tell for sure with those damn alien monsters.

All of this happens more or less at the same time.
Don't just run trough this. Play the fights. ;) More fun that way.

Guardsman Arcas lay under a camo blanket and looked into the darkness trough the IR rifle-scope.
He had chosen a spot of high ground from where he could overlook a small road winding trough a field of scrap metal and machine parts.
The metal chunks created shadows that appeared on the scope as black spots of total darkness.
Anything moving in there would light up like a torch.
He had been in this position since nightfall and according to his chronometer day would come soon.
He lay and waited and listened to the breathing of his spotter who kept an eye out on their surroundings.

At the HQ commander Bacchus looked at the 3-dimensional map in front of him.
Holographic images showed the positions of entrenched solders, artillery positions and the current whereabouts of the patrols he had send away.
Also the Tau positions featured prominent on the screen. They had taken a foothold on the southern part of the continent.
they were not moving, but that was a bad sign. "Probably reinforcing their positions."
He would have to take care of that later.
He had put the Whirlwind units at the outer edge and formed a second circle closer to HQ with the artillery batteries.
The Adeptus mechanicus entered the command bunker that had been erected overnight from prefabricated parts by the combat engineers.
“I have the analysis for you Commander” the adeptus said.
“It seems that those “Mining villages” are mere collection points and trade posts.
It seems that the mineral is spread throughout the surface and is mined by machines travelling about the planet.”
Bracchus took the information with a nod.
“That much about securing the mines”, he thought.
Now he would have to secure each of those mining units one by one.
But at least by conquering the trade posts he would get hold of the already mined resources.

The dreadnought “Starslayer” was moving closer to the Tau warship.
“Open fire on maximum distance. Maybe we can get in a lucky shot” the Captain Armand ordered.
The gun technicians tended to their fire control panels and within seconds the mighty cannons swung towards the target sending ultra hot beams of plasma towards the enemy vessel.
The batteries fire was followed by a barrage of anti-ship missiles.
Hopefully the fire from the energy weapons had blinded the Tau sensors long enough to prevent anti missile barrages and keep their gunners from locking on.
Captain hailed the smaller troop transport.
“Fortress of Heaven I want you to engage the Tau landing forces and cut off their supply lines.” He said.
"We understand Starslayer" Captain Xerxes replied.
"But we will need another quarter fragment to round the planet."

The Tau warship took the enery weapon hit and the missiles slammed home and tore through the ships infrastructure. The Tau hadn't expected someone to send a dreadnought. The Tau cruiser was too weak against such a monster. So they turned and warped out. They would be back and next time it would be with a larger fleet. As for the landing ships, they were finding it hard to defend themselves against the Imperial vessel, but it could only attack a certain amuont of ships, so the landing ship did evasive manuvers and tried to keep the Imperial ship's guns firing wildly. A few ships lit up and exploding leaving Tau and auxillary bodies everywhere. But a majority of the landing ships made it to the planet and began landing their ships in the south and prepared for their campaign.

The small band moved. They were one of the unlucky ones. They havent heard about the landings. They have, however, saw the ships land. Thinking it was another crashed ship, oh so common on Selgrix, they move out towards it. They began nearing it, using the small road. It was just about Day break. Everybody was silent, expect for the small babys crying. Then, one man fell. The Warriors began grabbing there weapons, but one by one, they fell. The was dead within minutes. Anthoer band, folowing the other, soon died along with it. All expect for 2. They roared up there harvesters, and fled. They began working on there radios, trying to find another band. Warning from one band to another, trading posts giving out directions. Soon, they found the Warning Frequency.

Hey! We got some problems! Some body, or thing, had killed 2 bands so far. We dont know whats going on. Were at the Crash of the...uh...Falcon of Greed. Requsting Asstaince from Milita! Help!

The frequency was heard at a local Warhut, 2 miles away. The milta, some still sleepy, grabbed there weapons. Crude Blunderbusses, Axes, Zipguns, and a Old rifle or two. They moutned there horses, and rode off to see what the treat was. They didnt last long. When the 2nd group looked for them, they saw them alright. Right before they died to.

The Militia soldiers saw what happened. The sky had been filled with fire. Then, they saw these ships descend and land, only a little bit father. The Militia soldiers dismounted, and left there horses tied up. They began to crawl towards a large piece of scarp metal. The one man with the long rifle began looking through his scope. Men wearing Armour that  covered there whole body. Other peolpe that looked like them. Then, thiese flying peolpe, and these peolpe with Gun-blades. The sinper then took his shot. the sound was loud, yet, nobody fell. The group stayed crouch down, as the sinper fired agian. and agian. Nothing happend. Finally, the 20 man group charged. There webbed fingers, there hard skin, there bony ridges on ther backs. There Blunderbuss fired. Yet, they were cut down. Only 3 remianed, and they quickly gave up. They threw down there weapons, and got on there knees. As on there world, it was normal for prisoners to ask if they could live, and maybe get to work as a slave. Yet, maybe these off worlders would just kill them. They iddnt know. painc was growing inside of them, and only one thought was one there minds.

Would i live?

The "Starslayer" in orbit. Behind and below it the troop transport "Fortress of Heaven"

The bridge of the "Starslayer" filled with cheers.
Captain Armand ended it with a gesture of his arm cutting trough the air.
"This is not the time to celebrate.
They have run but only because they knew they were outnumbered. Now that they know our strength this alien scum will return in force. Seekers keep your guard and the gunners will stay at ready."
The Captain grinned.
"But it is not over yet." he said.
"Helm take us away from the planet and closer to this systems sun. As close as our shield will allow.
The star will cover our signature. Maybe they will believe we have left the system after our "Victory".
Contact the "Fortress of Heaven" to continue orbital bombardment of the Tau landing zone. And have them inform us as sonn as their sensors pick up any alien vessel."
With this the massive warship moved away from the planet.

Down on Selgrix
At the HQ Kommissar Mortis and Commander Bracchus looked at the map.
Outside the HQ a priest was administering the final rites of passage to those who had fallen in the emperors name.
The imperial guard of Fire-Eye found itself in an unpleasant position.
They were used to fighting in large archologies and thus had specialized in traps and ambushes.
The closest thing that came to the environment they were used to had been the debris field.
Whenever they had met the enemy in open field they had been hard pressed to keep their stand.
Also victorious they had suffered losses which Commander Bracchus considered rather heavy.
"Your men are failing in their tasks." the Kommissar said.
"They have not made advances as fast as they should"
"My men do not FAIL in their tasks. I am the one who assigns them their tasks and it is my decision  on how fast they advance" the Commander said.
"This planet will soon belong to the empire and because it is the will of the emperor that guides us we will be victorious. At any speed" he added.
The man were interrupted by the roar of engines as heavy drop ships settled down and started to unload the heavy equipment. The first batch of Leeman Russ tanks had arrived.
"I have a plan Kommissar. And it will bring victory." Bracchus added and then turned towards the map again.
"Let me explain to you. Instead of destroying worthless villages and spreading our forces thin. we will establish a base here and send out raiders from this base to capture the enemy mining equipment. Also we will raid only those places that have storage's of the mineral we came for."
"A good plan Commander, but were is the glory in it. Without frontal assault, without a gallant charge at the enemy where is the honor?" the Kommissar asked.
"It is in the victory" Commander Bracchus answered.

It was the 2nd day of the Battle of Selgrix. The Impeuim and Tau forces have began there landings, while the natives began to lose ground. The Warboss of the Selgrix Bands have solwy manged to get the horde in line. However, it may be a matter of only days before he could sweep the Emeny from Selgrix, using the massive horde...

The mounted Soldiers began to ride. It was daybreak, and the sun was coming up. They quickly rode on and on. They stopped at a local trading post, and gathered the locals around. One of the louder ones unrolled a piece of paper, and read aloud.

"The Warboss has declared that every abile person Must take up arms, and fight the outside invaders. if you do not, you will be hunted down, and killed. "

The townsfolk, some began whispering among themselves. When one began to speak out, he was shot on sight. The rest quickly grabbed whatever weapons they had, there mutated body's, bearing the webbed fingers, there deformed bodys, bearing scars of living out in the wastes, and some had long arms, hard as a rock. They grabbed Muskets, crossbows, and axes, and mounted horses, others walked. Some had these gliders, and flew those. They marched. 50 men and women in all. They marched to one town, and anthoer, there horde growing. Soon, they had 200 men and women. They began marching toawrds where the two bands were cut down eariler. They made a huge pile of dust. They wind began wiping about, there robes fulleting in the wind. a large Banner was made, making a even huger scne. Only a complte idiot couldnt see this coming.

OOC: Pach, this is agisnt you.

A soldier of the Imperial Guard of Fire-Eye

The Kommissar started to speak but was cut short by a group of lights blinking on the map.
"The mine-field at sector 19-C. The entrance to the debris field" Bracchus noted with surprise.
"Someone is coming trough the field setting off the mines."
He looked over the map searching for the nearest unit, then grabbed the microphone.
"Artillery lay fire on grid 19-C. Full barrage. One salvo."
He switched to the group of soldiers patrolling the debris field.
"Lieutenant Xerxes. This is Commander Bracchus. I want you to advance to sector 19-C. We have movement there. Check the situation and report."
He turned toward the Kommissar. "Well maybe you will get your glorious battle today."

"Mistress, the posessed reports followers of the false emperor has arrived here before us, so has the vile xenos that forced Eliphas' demise. Sensors indicate this force bears the exact same markings and that their main warship has fallen back."

"Good! Ferin, take us into low orbit, and prepare to launch dreadclaws I want thesse xenos to know who is about to unleash the just vengeance of the dark gods on their heads them. We make a fighing landfal, alert the oblitterator cult and prepare the dreadnaughts, chainfists and multi-meltas. We will not disturb lord Ahriman until he deems us worthy."

Sorceress Artemis focused on the task at hand, using a complex ritual of her patron, she carefully concealed the Word Bearer battle barge from any psykers and sensors present in the system. Even though she wanted to rush in, she was aware that her warband would be all the more sucessful if she did not follow the path of Eliphas the inheritor, who's mantle she now wore, affixed to her terminator armour. She sensed the changer of ways was in a good mood today. She would certainly earn his favour this dawn.

As the battle barge settled in the upper atmosphere, beasts, xenos and unbelivers alike on the souther continent spotted it's warp-fueled engines, manouvering it into orbit directly above one of the consolidated Tau landing zones and opened fire. As the posessed Dreadclaw assault pods were released and made their way like missiles towards the surface, the Scourge of truth opened fire with it's torpedo bays and massive lasers towards any detected structures and defences. The tau in command of the facility however, was allowed no chance to react to the situation as he found half a dozen of Artemis' honour guard terminators materialize just outside his quarters! His only comfort beeing that one of them materialized right into his door, dying instantly with a very surprized look on his face and blocking the way of the other five for a few more precious seconds.
Outside, one could easily be led to belive one had woken up on one of the deamon worlds in the eye of terror. Where the main Shas'la barracks had been, nothing remained but a large glass-sided crater. looking in the other direction, a large number of dreadnaughts and posessed Word Bearer space marines was ripping open vehicles and battlesuits with howls of vicious laughter and gunning down the pilots before they could get into their gear. From the unholy fires started by the orbital barrage, packs of lesser deamons leaped out, eager to consume whatever souls they could find before the inevitable collapse of their material shells.

Native fighters

"What the?"

The sheels crashed down here and there, tearing up the group. Some ran for the hulks of space ships, others tried to huddle into groups. Anybody in the open was soon crushed. Soon, the shelling stopped. the survivors, now mubering only 150, came out of there hiding places. They looked at the gilder troops, who were firing at a unseen emney. The Group moved over the hill, and saw the outsiders warriors. Only about 20 men. The group, ragefull after the attack from the shells, decsend onto the soldiers. However, they only manged to kill 6, the rest manged to get away. The dead ones were quickly looted of there armour and weapons. The gilder troops began flying ahead, looking for the base. The milita troops follwed behind them, staying near the wrecks as much as possible. They walked and walked, every so often, one would blow up from these hidden bombs. The group was wittled down to less then 96 men. The gilder troops, numbering 12, began to fall from the sky. They found the emeny base. They hunkerd down on a small ridge, and began to shoot at the enacpment. They maybe could win.

Lieutenant Xerxes and his men had been running all the way towrds 19-C and as they arrives they found themselves outnumbered and with the enemy holding the high ground.
In the fire that instantly erupted half a dozen of his men were cut down.
"Open fire and fall back." he yelled.
While his men cut into the enemy with their bolters they fell back in overlapping lines to one of the large chunks of metal poking out of the ground.
Here they settled, still firing at anything that moved.
Xerxes grabbed his comlink.
"Headquarter, this is forward oberver group Xerxes.
Enemy advancing trough 19-C. they are trough the minefield. About 150 of them. Requesting artillery support on our position."
He looked at his men.
"Hold your fire. After the barrage is over we will charge them."
It took a few seconds then the missiles from the Whirlwinds and the artillery shells rained down on the advancing enemy.
The smoke and dirt had not cleared yet when Xerxes commanded his men to the charge.
their bolters firing they came out of their cover.
"ONWARD!" he yelled over the roar of gunfire. "FOR THE EMPEROR. FOR THE GLORY OF THE GUARD"
This was one of the good days to die.

The Fighters, seeing the men charged, began to charge as well. Most of the rockets missed, yet they still outnumbered the outsiders. They began to raise there axes up. Some fired there weapons as they charged. Soon, they fell upon the ranks. it was just bloddy. a Fighter might kill one outsider, then get killed. it just went one and on. Soon, they had to fall back to where they began.

"COME ON! SHOW DEM IDIOTS WHAT WERE MADE UP OF!"

The guns opened up, all in a single volley. Then, they charge once more. This time, so many were killed in the first attack, that they gave up. They put there hands over there heads and began shouting at the outsiders

"We give! We give! Dont kill us!"

Lieutenant Xerxes was totally taken by surprise.
Those natives were fierce fighters. They had started a counter charge, right against his men. They had fallen back, charged again and now they surrendered?
"Damn them." he tought holding the huge bleeding wound on his head "They nearly had us in that last charge. They fought honorably and fierce. I can't just kill such warriors."
He had only 4 men and himself standing. Two more were wounded and the rest had gone to the glorious light that was the emperor.
"YOU" he shouted "Get up and don't try anything or you will die. You are now prisoners of the empire. Obey and you will live."
He picked up the comlink.
"This is Lieutenant Xerxes. We have held the position. Taken prisoners. Requesting pickup."
He did not wait for the answer.
Turning towards his men, fightinh the dizzy feeling and the pounding in his head he ordered "Round them up".

"We go, we go with those who spared us."

The Natives began grinning from ear to ear. that had there life's spared, and they might be treated nice. They saw these vehicles roll up, and the man who spared them told them to get in the vehicles. they did as they were told, and the 38 Natives were filed onto the 2 vehicles. the people who spared them rode with them. The leader of the group, who was the tallest, began talking with the leader, a man with a strange sword.

"So, where you from?"

Xerxes looked at the huge, bulky native.
"You speak imperial?" he asked.
"We are the Imperial Guard of Fire-Eye. We live, fight and die for the glourious emperor of all mankind" he said with some pride still fighting the pain that made his head feel like a ball full of needles.
A medic turned his attention to the lieutenant who`s head was covered in blood.
"Hold still. Your skull is nearly split in two.If you move too much your brain will fall out." he grinned while starting to whipe of the blood and clean the gaping wound

"Well...i quess we do. All i know about you peolpe is that were descned from you."

The native looked at his own arm. it had a nasty wound. He then looked at his own men. One had a chucnk of metal in his head. there weapons were with the Outsiders.

"Oh, and i case your wondering, the names Vink."

The Vhcile then stopped, and the natives were taken out. There were these huge lumbering metal beast. Then, this one man with a cape walked up to the nice man, and began yelling at him. Vink saw this, and began to stand up. The man who was insutling the man who saved his life looked at him, and spoke to the nice man.

"Why did you bring these....savgaes into our camp"

"They gave up sir"

"You know what the Empoer thinks of this?"

"Yes...."

"I should have you shot.."

As soon as that man said that. Vink charged the man inslting his friend. He was pulled away, and he soon saw a pistol in his face. The nice man pulled Vink away, and began talking to the man with the cape. Soon, he left. Vink wasnt sure wethier he did the right or wrong thing. He would just have to find out.

" Permision to speak Sir?" Xerxes shouted his question at his commanding officer.
"What would you want to say?" Bracchus asked.
"These man may be savages but they fought as brave as any one of us. They surrendered and by doing this showed respect for the superiority of the empire. And we can get Information from them."
"Your man has a point there Commander." Kommissar Mortis had appeared from inside the bunker.
"We should see if they can be used for our purposes." he added.
"Bring them over to the prison complex. Shoot them if they resist. And chain that big one up on a wall. He will learn not to cause any trouble. Let him act as a lesson for his people. If he survives for the next three days his men will survive too."
Mortis walked up to the huge brute looking him in the eyes with a firece face.
"You understand you mutant scum. If you survive the next few days your men will life. If you die on me I will have them killed"
Mortis turned around and left.
Bracchus looked at his leutenant.
"You have guts Xerxes. More guts than is good for you. But you fought bravely today. So you will be safe from punishment for the moment. Go see the brother of the scalpell. then return to your post."
The Commander turned around following the Imperial Kommissar.

Vinko cocked his head slighlty, but he did as he was told. he stood there agisnt the wall, waiting. it wasnt that big of a deal to him. After all, he had gone eating a drinking without a week. He layed there. His men were around him, some talking here and there. Vink didnt say much. He layed there, night after night, thinking and dreaming. He was always told that outsiders was bad. Yet, one was nice to him. Then, the man who was nice to him walked. Vink waved, and he was taken off the shackles. He lead to to the Mans leader, and they began talking. Vink didnt say anything, and was a littile confused by the question they asked. They asked about some Chaos powers. Vink didnt know what they went, but he understood about the Katach. He was let free, and the nice man let him outside.

"Um... just a question, why did you tie me up?"

Xerxes could do nothing but laugh.
"Well you hard headed mutant. I just won a bet that you would make it. The Kommissar will swear you in as troopers of the empire for this campaign. You will obey like we do. Welcome to the Guard."
He took the natives out of the prison compound and took them over to a tent.
The Commander stood their together with the Kommissar.
Mortis stepped in front of the group.
"You will repeat after me and one mistake and I will have your lousy hides."
"I hereby swear loyalty to the empire of mankind and the emperor of all. Never will I falter in my duty towards the greater good of mankind. I will lay down my life if the emperor wishes. I will fight his enemys as they are my enemys without hesitation. I will show no fear and not retreat nor falter in the face of my enemy. i understand that my honor is the honor of the Guard and the Empire. If ever I fail my tasks I will accept death at the hands of my superiors to restore my honor."

Vink and his men began recving weapons, and armour. They began haveing training, mainly survial training. During it, however, Vink and his men began to fashion these cloaks. when they were finally finshed training, and Vink recived the title of Lieuntat, he prestned them to Xexres and his men.

"Alright. now they may not seem like much, but they have katch sewn into them. it makes you blend in with the ground better."

Vink and his men were named Selgrix Rifle Group Number 1, and they were paired up wirh Xexres for there first mission. They had to raid a small village, which held large amounts of Katach in them. The group began stalking into it, Vinks cloak fullerting slighty in the wind. His sinper man, Calxtio, had already taken a head start. He radioed back it.

When Xexrves sent off the flare, his 1st squad, and his command squad was to charge into the village, secruing the village until tanks can be brought up. Now all they had to do was wait.

The Tau had readied themselves and prepared their bases as well as they could and now they were ready to march and meet the Imperial forces in battle. The Tau battlesuits and Fire Warriors arrived at an outpost. The Tau COmmander was an honorable warrior. "I wish to speak with the leader of the Imperial Guard here on the planet. I wish to discuss something with him!" The Tau waited with weapons at the ready for any trick that the Imperial Guard tried to pull.

"Ferin!"

"Yes mistress?"

"You were given precise instructions that none of the Tau xenos here were to be allowed to live, were you not?"

"Yes mistress, I have followed your instructions to the letter!"

"Then why Ferin?! Why! do I sense some of them still alive and heading towards their own?!"

"Please mistress! NOOOO!"

Raising her staff, Artemis levitated the hapless brother Ferin in the air, spinning his body ever faster until he erupted in a bloody explosion, shards of his power armour flying in all directions and a bloody mist temporarily concealing the Sorceress and her newly created pet spawn...

"Khorgar! Bring me the captured xeno commander! I have a message to send to his master."

Above the planet the troop transport hovered in stationary orbit. It's thrusters kept it in position over the southern part of the continent.
"That is strange" one of the Adeptus Mechanicus manning the seeker equipment said.
"What is it" the Captain asked.
"There seem to be explosions around the Tau positions Sir."
"Fool. We have been bombing tem from orbit for an hour now. Those are secondary explosions."
"With all due respect Sir. But these look like plasma weapons fire and I also have some strange readings." the man replied.
"What strange readings are you talking about man" the Captain seemed to loose his patience.
He walked over and looked at the holographic projections.
"Go to optical and image enhance" he heard a tech priest say beside him.
As he turned around he looked into the camera eyes of the Tech Magnus.
"Take a look Captain" the metallic voice said.
The image from the surface showed a ship hovering over the planets surface close to the Tau positions.
There was movment on the ground. Warmachines and soldiers. Chaos soldiers.
"How did they get past your sensors" the Captain yelled at the sdeptus that manned the seekers.
"Fould magic. they blinded us with spells and trickery. we must inform the inquisition immediately." the Tech Magnus said with a stern yet calm voice. probably because it was synthetic and could be modulated any way he wanted.
"Yes, but call the "Starslayer" the captain added. "And inform our ground troops."

"Commander, Kommissar. We have a call from outpost Sierra-16. Southern perimeter."
the com-officers voice interrupted the chatter inside the command center.
"Put it on" Commander Bracchus said.
The officer pressed a button. A voice came on.
"This is outpost Sierra-16. we have enemy contact. Tau force of undisclosed size outside our sensors.
Their Leader wishes to talk with the Commander."
"You idiot's" Kommissar Mortis yelled. "This is a trap. Don't let those alien scum trick you. open fire."
Bracchus turned towards the com.unit.
"Artillery. Open fire on grid S-16, full barrage. Have our men move out and reinforce outpost Sierra 16 immediately."
While orders were shouted and the Commander prepared to leave the bunker to join his men in battle another voice came on.
"This is "Fortress of Heaven" a shrill voice said.
"Chaos forces are attacking the Tau positions in the south."
The Kommissar and Bracchus looked at each other.

Still concealed from sensors and psykers by Artemis' sorceries, the Scouge of truth drew slowly closer to the loyalist transport, using the vessel's blind spots to approach well within boarding range before launching the Dreadclaw assault pods that had been kept in reserve with their lethal cargo.

The first three pods attatched to the aft section of the loyalist vessel, right above the engines. As soon as the demonic vessels had secured themselves to the hull and opened their iris gates, the chainfists of the terminators inside went to work on the hull, slowly but inevitably chewing their way through.
At that time, the sorceries concealing the Word Bearer battle barge subsided and the huge vessel finally appeared on the doomed loyalists' sensors in all it's malicious glory, covered in defaced Imperial symbols, leering deamon faces moving in the metal and huge gunbarrels with a barely contained unholy glow visible at their monstrous muzzles. Around it, creations of the dark mechanicus, Hell blade fighters and Hell talon bombers swarmed towards the transport along with several more of the Dreadclaw assault pods.

"Move that cable over there. And don't forget tha "Chant of  flow" when you attach the coupling."
The Adeptus mechanicus told the three acolytes under his command.
the young men moved the thick cable across the floor towards the bay it had rested in.
They prepared to start their chant while the Adeptus lit up some incense.

He raised his hand.
"By the mechanics of the golden throne, be silent. What is this horrendous noise behind that wall?"
The acolytes stopped their task still holding on to the cable.
"Another air condition unit failing?" the Adeptus mumbled to himself while walking up to the wall.
He pressed his ear against the metal.
"Oh spirit of the machine tell this unworthy servant of this glorious vessel what ails have befallen thee." he started the chant.
His voice died as in a shower of sparks as a  chainblade cut trough the hull and split his head in the middle down to his chest.
In a gust of blood he turned toward the acolytes that had frozen in fear.
With his dying breath he spoke "Intrudersss"

The dark apostle withdrew his bloodied chainfist from the gaping hole, the glow of the disruptive field surrounding the weapon reflected off his tusked terminator helmet and thus revealed his nature to the loyalist acrolytes for a short moment before he resumed cutting along with his four brothers to widen the breach.

Within half a minute, the breach was large enough to allow them inside, the two other squads entering adjacent compartments.

The acolytes stood frozen with fear. Their teacher lay dead at the feet of those horrible "Things".
Then the alarm sounded off.

On the bridge of the "Fortress of Heaven" an alarm sounded and lights began to flash.
"A hull breach. No three of them. Close to the main engines." one of the crew members yelled.
Suddenly the entire bridge crew let out a scream.
On their monitors and outside the armored view ports they could see a ship appearing seemingly out of nowhere.
A Chaos battle barge. Close enough one could touch it with ones hands.
"All hands to battle stations" the Captain yelled but the crew still in shock reacted as in slow motion.
It felt like the gunners took forever to realign the guns from their planetary targets to the new threat.

Strangely enough, the battle barge did not fire it's main guns, the point in doing so was soon to be revealed as the terminators in the aft cut the main power supply. Instantly, the artificial gravity generators ceased and any one of the crew not holding tight to the ship started floating until local emergency systems started to kick in, providing basic life-support and a much weaker gravity field.
The first objective acchived, the three squads of terminators advanced, their magnetzed boots keeping them steady with or without gravity. The main squad, led by dark apostle Herod advanced upwards, heading for the bridge, while the two other squads advanced forward towards strategic passages in an attempt to cut off any reinforcements heading aft.

The horrors leaped after their prey for some time, launching their unholy sorceries after the vehicle until they could no longer sustain their own precence on the material plane and vanished into thin air. The militia's were lucky it was only a pack of lesser demons they encountered and not Artemis' Word Bearers who were mounting their Land Raider and Rhino transports in the other end of what merly hours before had been a small Tau base.

Artemis herself was standing in the bottom of a large crater together with the Dark apostle Khorgar, a squad of Thousand Son bodyguards and the still living commander of the Tau outpost thrown naked into the dust by her feet.

The terminator laughed, a metallic, hollow laughter as he brought up his combi-bolter and fiered a burst of bolts at the acrolyte from point blank range. One of the bolts exploded inside the acrolyte's skull, spattering the room with blood, another burst in his right shoulder, blowing the arm with the plasma cutter clear off, causing it to continue in the same direction it was going, melting part of the terminator's left shoulderpad in a glancing blow before it ran out of fuel and was swatted away. Before he left the room, he shot each of the other acrolytes to make sure they wouldn't copy their foolish comrade's actions and also put a few extra bolts into the adeptus' corpse for good measure.

Panic was in the voice of the Captain.
"Start the auxiliary units.Restore gravity and power. We need energy for the guns."
The bridge crew that was seated at their stations were held inside their chairs by seat belts. everyone else including the Captain and the Tech Magnus floated around like soap bubbles.
The engineering section came to live.
Chanting the "Prayer of rewiring" they managed to get the auxiliary power cells on-line. They would not last long but it would give them live support and limited gravity.
"Send troopers down to the hull breaches. Hold them out of MY ship" he yelled.
The Tech Magus grabbed onto a chair while low gravity kicked in pulling him to the ground.
With a nearly emotionless voice he said "Seal the pressure bulkheads and all airlocks. seal of the engine section. It will not stop them but it will slow them down.
Brother Mechanicus Magran  follow me to the energy core. We will return live to this vessel and fire to it's arms. Or we will die trying"
The two men left the bridge.

Several decks below
A group of of men in armor and equipped with auto-rifles rounded a corner when they were stopped by a bulkhead door coming down in front of them.
"What the hell." the squad leader cursed.
"Squad 9 to bridge. we are on deck 20 near the engine room. Why did someone just close the bulkhead door?"
A voice that had more than a slight sound of panic in it came over the com-link.
"By order of the Tech Magnus the section will be sealed."
At the same moment another door closed behind the squad, boxing them in.
"So this is were we will die" he tought.
"Well men if this is how it must end then let us prepare. they will not pass us by easily. If they break trough here then we will fight to the last drop  of blood."
the troopers settled behind whatever cover they could find.
Reading their grenades and prepping their rifles they waited.

On the ground:

The armoured column of the Word Bearers began to move in the direction of the next known Tau LZ. The first vehicles to rumble over the heap of scrap metal was the three predator tanks of the warband's first squadron.
Spotting the cowering locals they opened fire with autocannons and heavy bolter sponsons while they increased their speed to run down and crush anything who survived their fire.

Seeing a blast door closing ahead of them, the aspiring champion of the second squad fiered his combi-melta, gradually heating the door's metal until it started to glow white and then start melting. Third squad was right behid second, using powerfists, chainfists and lightning claws to tear their way through the bulkhead between them.
Meanwhile, first squad was making good progress towards the bridge when they were boxed in, only two decks below their objective. Using his tainted auspex to aqquire exact coordinates for the bridge in relation to themselves, Apostle Herod activated the squad's personal teleporters, dissolving themselves into energy only to rematerialize on the bridge itself, each of them standing more than twice as tall and three times as wide as any of the loyalist naval personell.

"Run! Run!"

The militia, at least the ones who weren't dead yet, tried to flee to there hitched horses. The ones who then didnt die in the run, began to ride away, trying to get away from the shells, and the tanks. they went faster, and faster, Until the tanks finally gave up the chase. Only 3 were left. They kept on riding, and riding, until they reached a village. They began telling the word of these monstries, and began to head to every vilalge they could, telling the word. Some belived that they had to band with the outsiders to survive. Others thought they could take both on. The groups that went to band with the outsiders forme dup in the wastes, and bearing white flags, marched to the Outsiders camp, hoping that they would be accpeted as soldiers. they didnt know if they would be shot, or if they would beturned away. Some carried weapons, others carried suppiles. A few had gilders, which the carried. All of them, however, just wanted to live, and fight the Outsiders that have these monsters. they just wanted to be safe from them.

Village on Selgrix

While waiting for the tanks to arrive Xerxes ordered his men to round up the survivors and search their huts for weapons.
"Talk to them Lieutenant Vink. Tell them that they will be spared if they serve the one true emperor."
he grabbed his com-link
"This is Lieutenant Xerxes reporting. we have taken the village in North 12 and made prisoners. They seem to be less mutated than the ones we found earlier.
I have Lieutenant Vink talk them into joining our cause. we will set up a perimeter defense and an Ambush site. Any information on that Harvester coming our way?"

"Affirmative Lieutenant. get your men ready quick. The harvester is only 1 mile away. He will reach your position in half a segment"

Xerxes turned towards his men. "Okay everybody hide inside the huts and Vink you and your men greet the Harvester when it comes by. Try and make them stop. Everybody get ready."

Outpost South Sierra-16, southern perimeter.
The men inside the pillbox that was Imperial outpost Sierra-16 crouched together in their armored position.
They did not even dare to look out the gun slits.
The a high pitched whine was heard as a salvo of missiles flew overhead.
The missiles hit the enemy position and the squads spotter got up. He took his binoculars and looked over at the Tau position.
"Correct fire 100 ahead 200 left he yelled down into the darkness of the small bunker.

In orbit around Selgrix.

The bridge of the troop transport fell dead silent.
The entire crew stood in shock as the armor clad giants appeared on the bridge.
"Tele..porters." the Captain found his voice. "Shoot..shoot them." he mumbled under his breath.

Vink began to talk to the locals, telling him and his men story. How much better he has it. He explained on when the local Beasts tried to attack them, instead of wasting a couple of rounds, it just took 1. The villagers began to smile and nod. They slowly began to agree with Vink, and he sent them towards the camp, giving a advance warning, and a good route.

"Xerxes, the villagers said they will join the god-emperor"

Vink and his men went outside the village, posing as the local militia. The harvester stopped, and Little began counting down. It will be only seconds before Xerxes and his men take the harvester.

"Now" Xerxes said into the com-link.
A sniper fired a round trough the Harvesters cockpit killing the driver.
A group of guardsman jumped out of one of the huts and while firing their las guns into the open door of the machine one ran by Vinks group.
The first Imperial  jumped up the ladder on the machines side while his comrades continued to fire into the door over his head.
Shortly before he reached the top he flung a grenade trough.
Then jumped in behind it.
The grenade exploded sending the guardsman flying trough the door-frame of the Harvester.
"That IDIOT" Xerxes yelled.
"Vink get up there with your men. Quick take the machine. Alpha squad give them fire support. Don't shoot them."
Another shot rang out and the sniper brought down a militia soldier who leaned out the machines cockpit window aiming a rifle at Vink's group.

"Take it back to base. We will hitch a ride on it"

Shash was able to get away from the gunfire. So, this planet will have to be fought over by three powers and the inhabitants. I think it is time for them to see the true power of the Greater Good. These heretics will submit or perish. Perhaps I can convince the inhabitants to side with the Empire. Shash was able to make it back to his base camp. The battles around the planet were forcing the Tau to thin their lines. If Shash wanted to win this planet for the Empire, he had to throw everything he had at it to win. He looked at one of his lieutenants. 'Find me the native commander or who ever is in charge. Perhaps we can sway them to fight with us."

Vink told his sqaud to open fire, bird after bird began to fall. then, they hit one of his men. they picked him up into the air, and ripped him in to.

"Damn it, Xexrves! Open fire!"

Vink quickly picked up a shotgun, and fired into the birds. More and mroe of them died. Yet, vink wasnt sure if they could stop them from killing more of his men. Or Xexrves.

"So be it fools!"

"Word Bearers, activate teleporters, set for off ship!"

With three loud clangs, the Dreadclaws detatched from the loyalist vessel just as the Magus Mechanicus and his acrolyte arrived in the chamber within, in time to experience the air of the chamber rapidly escaping through the three large holes in the hull where the assault pods had been attatched.
As the fifteen terminators rematerialized in space off ship, the self-destruct was ignited, engulfing the ship and many Hell blade fighters too close to escape. Of the fifteen terminators that boarded, two managed to materialize in the same space as a Hell Talon bomber, dying instantly along with the servitor pilot, the uncontrollable craft now accelerating towards the planet. Another three wasn't successful in getting enough distance between themselves and the loyalist ship and were vapourized along with their armour in the explosion. The remaining ten was hurled away through space by the powerful blast with very little chance of surviving once their armour was out of fuel.

"By the Emperor" Xerxes recovered from his surprise bringing his las gun to bear on the damned beasts.
"Fire at will. Take them down." he yelled.
"Form a circle and stay close. This will reduce there area of attack."
Lieutenant Xerxes cursed the fact that he did not have his bolter with him.
They had been issued las-guns for this mission as not to damage the Harvester machine.
Kommissar Mortis stood tall amongst the men, holding a bolt pistol in each hand and taking time to aim carefully.
He presented himself as a target and when the beast-birds attacked brought down two of them at once.
"You sure life in an interesting place lieutenant" Xerxes shouted at Vink while picking up another creature.

In orbit around Selgrix

The Imperial dreadnought "Starslayer" fell out of Warp right above the planet.
It's sensors picking up the Chaos barge and the exploding troop transport.
Shields were up and the ship was on full battle alert.
"Open fire as soon as you have a target lock." Captain Armand yelled across the bridge.
"We will show those deamon scum what it means to attack a ship of the empire. Let us clean the universe from these vile creatures."
The main guns fired, together with the missile batteries and secondary weapons. Even the anti-fighter guns spit doom forth from their barrels.
The dreadnought fired anything it got. Armand was well aware of how dangerous the chaos forces were. He would not give them a chance to strike back.

"This isnt half as bad as some things."

Vink then shot his shotgun again, bring down 2.

"Like, if you are not carfull, you could be visted by ghouls."

Vink Then ducked, as a bird tried to grab his head but missed. He shot the bird as it started to come back. Soon, all the birds were dead. Vink picked up a bired, and looked at it.

"Well fellas, whos hungry? This is something you can eat, ya know?"

On the ground, the Chaos Armour pushed forward towards a new objective, a native village that the natives they encountered earlier had fled to. The predators going as vanguard and on the flanks, rhinos and dreadnaughts in the centre while the land raiders brought up the rear. Overhead, the warband's raptors jumped from cover to cover, racing with the rapidly moving vehicles below them, eager to catch their fleeing prey, knowing that no horse was fast enough to outrun them. Between the vehicles, posessed Word Bearers darted to and fro, their demonically enhanced bodies allowing them to keep pace with the rapidly moving tanks and transports.

In the skies, a whole different set of events was now possible to witness from below without even using visual aids, the exploding transport temporarily outshone the sun, and soon after, the two fairly even-matched battleships started their exchange of ordnance in low orbit.

Brother Dengar cautiously approached the ornamented door where two of the body less Thousand Sons marines was standing guard. He knelt in front of it and the door opened before he even thought of reaching out towards the door switch.

"Lord Ahriman, the..."

"I already know, escort me to the bridge."

Without a word, the two body less fell in behind them as he escorted the master sorcerer to the bridge of the battle barge.

OOC: Redo, like emp said.

The villagers were walking around, tending to there normal business. Some where making pots, others were skinnig aminals. The local milta was walking around, making sure that there was no trouble. Then, Mounted Soldiers began entering the gate. They quickly began desrcinging what they saw.

"There was these..these... Metal mosnters! And these...these...freaks that could...could...run as fast as any horse!"

The villagers began paincing. The milita quickly dismissed the riders.

"Peolpe, peolpe. These guys are problay just insane. There is no such thing as a metal mosnter!"

A nervous laugh came out of the villagers, who began to get back to work. However, the milta then began to walk towards the walls. If the riders were telling the truth, they had a problem on there hands. a  big problm.

OOC: Emp, is that a littile better?

Battle of Selgrix. Lower orbit.

The first salvo from the "Starslayer" forward guns left when she was still 1,000 miles away.
A second and 3rd salvo followed at 900 and 800 miles bathing the enemy warship in a ball of energy.
"Helmsman set course upward 5 miliradiens, roll her to port. Port gunners ready to fire by numbers on my command" the Captain ordered with a calm voice.
The controllers at the rudder stations reacted without hesitation.
The mighty ship fired maneuvering thrusters the size of houses and lifted it's bow upward ever so slightly.
The humongous vessel started to roll to it's port side. Closing in at nearly 10,000 times the speed of sound the Imperial Warship cut across the Chaos Barge upper bow in a nearly right angle.
In this position the barge was at a disadvantage because she could only bring her upper guns to bear while the "Starslayer" hammered away with her full broadside.
One after the other of the mighty guns set off slamming gigawatt's of power  into the upper shields of the Chaos warship.

OOC: Barak, a 110mm cannon would NEVER be able to tip over a tank, not even an APC like the rhino when not even an armoured train can. The only way a tank can tip over is if the driver takes it sideways over a way too high ledge (at least as high as the tank is wide). You tried to cover too much, the first post of a battle should be detection only. redo it and do it right or be ignored. (the odds look quite grim though, the armour, the posessed and the raptors is moving at around 30mph average, 12 predators with autocannon and heavy bolters, another 9 with lascannons in turret and sponsons, 30 rhinos, 10 dreadnaughts 9 land raiders, ~150 raptors and ~100 posessed, some of the possessed have wings, many have pre-heresy colours on their armours and yet some even has loyalist marine colours, they were captured and made unwilling demon hosts)

In low orbit:

The commander of the Scourge of truth reversed engines at full power, putting a stress on the hull that no fully man-made ship would sustain for long. Slowly, the shuddering hull moved backwards, decreasing the strike angle towards the puny loyalist warship.

"Master, upper bow shields at 50% but holding, servitors and dark mechanicus are working on the shield generators to increase output."

"Good"

"Master, alignment acchived."

"Launch bow torpedoes!, full salvo!"

The kilometer long missiles accelerated in their tubes as multiple warp rifts opened in front of the tubes with similiar rifts opening just inside the dreadnaughts mid-ship void shields.

"Time to impact 3... 2... 1... Impact!"

Three of the six warp-missiles launched went low and missed the Loyalist ship while still detonating against the far, inner, side of the dreadnaughts shield. The other three struck home, their magna-melta warheads impacting against the mid-ships battery decks.

Approaching the coordinates, the warband halted along a ridge overlooking the settlement, vehicle after vehicle rolled up, forming a wide battle-line along the crest. In doing so, they broke a few tactical taboos in favour of psycological effect. The raptors gathered below the ridge and out of sight along with the possessed and the dreadnaughts.

As one, the over fifty vehicles started to move down the slope towards the village, side by side as a wall of metal. Still, they held their fire.

"What the?"

The milita looked at the seemling wall of moving metal. They stood there, fear wegihing them down. Then, one manged to ring the warning bell. The villagers began to flee to the warhut, hoping that they would be safe. The milta, too shellshocked to move, knew that they were doomed. they couldnt do anything. anything.

The raptors could no longer stand beeing left out of the action, activating their jump packs, they rose to the skies and flew over the slowly advancing vehicles below, letting out vicious howls and mad laughter amplified by their vox systems, almost drowning the roar of their jump packs.

The shells began falling evrywhere. The millita huddled down wherever they could, trying to get away from the shells. Body parts flew everywhere, and the sounds of screms could be herad. The lvinig ones looked up, and saw these flying men, whoese voices were so loud, descned into them. They were cut down. Barely anybody lived the first attack by the shells, now they had to deal with these insane mosnters. Within mintues, the entrie village was dead. Nobody was alive. Azog, one of the aspiring raptor champions walked among the buring ruins of the native village, he was looking for something. At his belt, there hung several meat hooks with the freshly severed heads of several villagers. The man felt the hot metal being lifted off his back. A shell had tossed him from the warhut into this, where a piece of metal fell on him. He rolled over, half hoping that it was some milita fighter. When he saw it was one of the flying men, he began to sweat.

Grabbing the the man by the throat, Azog lifted him up to eye-level, the man's feet dangling almost a yard above ground.
"What I want? Now that was a most interesting question!"

"What I want, is for you to tell me where the old ruins are, they might be forbidden to approach by ancient taboos told by the elders of your pitiful tribe. Tell me that, and I might let you live."

The riders kept on going from village to village, before stopping for the night at a small village. They had warned at least 2 villages, before stooping at a 3rd. They were tired. Then, while entering the tavern, they heard the news that made a chill go up there spine. The 1st village they warned was reported to be completely destroyed. Not a thing was left. They walked outside of the Traver, and gathered all of the villagers nearby.

"Everybody, have you heard of the Trading post that was destroyed a few hours ago?"

"Yeah, everybody has"

"Well, we were there, and we tried to warn them. However, they wouldn't listen to us, and looked what happened. There dead. We have warned 2 other villages, yet there not listening. Now, are you going to be like the 1st village and die, or are you going to be differnt, and live?"

The villagers stood there for a monet, letting the words sink in. Then, they scarmbled. They began making barricdes, setting up These crude machine guns, ready to attack in fire lines. Ciztens then set up flamers, in case they got closes enough. They began working, the Milita riders looking over it, and the milita calling up other local militas, Mercernys and who ever would answer. They would need a lot of help.

After scouring the village and making sure there were no more survivors, the word bearers commenced setting up a base camp in preparation for Artemis' arrival. Within hours, the ruins of the destroyed village had turned into yet another hellscape as chaos Idols were firmly planted into the ground, allowing denizens of the warp to assume and maintain physical form at lesiure while defences and temporary structures was erected. Since they had brought very little food, most of the dead villagers was put to good use and soon were nothing but splintered bones sucked dry of their marrow.

Warning Klaxons went of on the "Starslayers" bridge.
"We have been hit amidship. Battery deck. Secondary armor layer compromised, internal damage, we lost a third of the weapon arrays on the starboard side, decompression on 17 decks trough 5 sections." a servitor reported.
The Captain cursed.
He had underestimated that damn traitor captain. "Well not again, I won't" he tought to himself.
"Roll her to starboard, forwad 20° in the same direction" he ordered.
The great speed had already taken the vessel away several 1000 yards from the enemy.
Again the massive manuevering thrusters fired swinging the hulk of the starship aout evers so slowly.
The vessel turned into a wide arc.
"Cut power to main engines, reverse thrusters on full." the Captain ordered.
With it's forward speed decreasing the circle got tighter and the imperial dreadnought ended up presenting it's starboard broadside towards the enemy's rear, the two vessels forming a T.
"Fire all remaining batteries." Armand ordered.
The gunners fingers flew across their control panels and the broadside batteries let fly with plasma lances, fusion beamers and graviton pulsars on the enemys engine section.

ooc: Emp if you can't understand the manuever please say so. I am not sure I really explained this right. I wished I had some models to show you.
Edit: I revised the damage according to what you said.

OOC: melta weapons use super-intense microwave emissions to heat the target's materia directly to melting point and beyond. In game terms, a hand held melta-gun can easily destroy any tank at short range, approx 10m if converted to scale. A multi-melta has the same effect but with double the effective range, a torpedo warhead would release a massive emmission but like a shaped explosive charge instead of a beam. A direct hit of a full torpedo salvo has about 50% chance of completely severing a ship two thirds the size of a dreadnaught. Also, you don't expect me to let my ship just lie there while you make a more than obvious textbook manouvre that would allow you to cripple my vessel's drive with a single salvo eh?

Seeing before his mental sight what the loyalist captain intended to do, sorcerer lord Ahriman, former chief librarian of the Thousand Sons space marine legion walked into the bridge of the Scourge of Truth.

"Captain Thule, counter them!"

"Yes lord Ahriman! Starboard aft thrusters and port bow thrusters, full burn, 30seconds!"

The slightly smaller ship now prooved it's agility as it turned on the spot just before the loyalist dreadnaught outflanked her, resulting in the two ships lying parallell, bow beside stern.

"Starboard batteries FIRE FOR EFFECT!"

The exchange of firepower was cataclysmic despite the damage made to the imperial dreadnaught's gun batteries facing off against the battle barge's untouched ones. It was doubtful if either ship would ever leave this forsaken fringe system.

No definitely not.
And thank you for the information. I redid the damage on my vessel according to the information you gave me.

"Starboard shields are at 60% " a Adeptus called out.
"We lost another battery cluster."
"Curse those damn traitors and their foul magics. They use their dark trickery to counter us."
the first officer yelled across the bridge.
"No" captain Armand thought. "Even if this is dark magic their captain is good. Should I finally after all those years find a worthy opponent amongst those traitors?"
because the dreadnought still had forward movement it passed by the chaos vessel and continued to move in a wide circle.
The enemy vessel kept rotating around it's high axis, both ships circling each other like a pair of angry wolves.

"Helmsman, roll her to port." Armand ordered, his voice still calm.
This would present the enemy with the undamaged broadside batteries.
"Increase forward vector. Widen the circle. We will gain some distance."
The mighty ship started to roll along its central axis.

"Captain Thule, take us across their aft, launch boarding parties!"

"Main engines full burn! Boosters full burn! Starboard aft thrusters and port bow thrusters 30sec full burn in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... NOW!"

"Lord Ahriman, we will be where you want us in half a minute."

"Good, I will lead the main boarding party myself. You may have your command back."

The heretics ship fired it's main thrusters, gaining speed and trying to leave the center thus breaking it`s encirclement.
The enemy ship managed to cut across the "Starslayers" aft thus entering her blind spot and eevading her guns.
Seeing this Captain Armand had another idea.
"Full thrusters and make speed. We are going to break this engagment and return for another......."
he was cut short by a servitor.
"Aft shield failing. Powering down. Main reactor cluster has been locked out.
Backup systems not coming online."
"Do something" the first officer yelled.
"Aft sensors shut off" another Adeptus yelled with a voice filled with panic.
"Betrayal, we have been betrayed." the first officer screamed in anger.
In the background of the bridge two shadows who had not moved nor made a sinle sound during the entire battle turned towards each other.
Their voices were drowned by alarms going off and the shouting of the bridge crew.
One of the men left the bridge while the other one let his eyes wander over the huge command  area.

The first assault boat clamped itself against the hull right below the bridge, the following dozen or so clamped on where it was possible above the main engine room and aft of the ship. Soon the orange outlines of the imminent hull breeaches started to become visible on the inside.

On the Scourge of Truth, a second wave of larger assault boats prepared to launch, the dreadclaws had been called to ground for transport duties in the atmosphere along with several of the Hell blade fighters and Hell talon bombers. This second wave contained an altogether nastier surprise for the loyalists, the Oblitterator cult Artemis had persuaded to follow her after Eliphas had failed them and several of her Host's most deranged Dreadnaughts. The heavy boarding party launched, headed for the loyalist ship's launch bays.

The towering figures before them wore blue armour with golden trimmings and a dull red gleam behind their eyepices. All the two heretics got in reply was a collective whisper, constantly repeated while the rubric space marines pushed on past them in a slow, steady pace.

"All is dust..."

Following the dozen rubric marines, chaos marines of a different kind emerger out of the breech, these moved more fluently, more... alive. And their armour was dark red with silver trimmings. One of theese, wearing something looking like an eight-pointed brass halo, skull helmet and a strange looking power weapon in the left hand paused in front of them and spoke.

"HA! This was not the kind of warm wellcome I had expected! But it's a shame to waste good will. Make yourselves useful and you might get to see the sorcerer."

^Umm... they are Imperial naval staff, they probably haven't seen loyal space marines up close more than a few times, they would hardly be able to separate one chaos marine from another and it's highly unlikely they know the names of any of the chaos characters that's singled out in the game fluff. The traitor marines advanced with little to no Resistance trough the labyrinth of the great vessel.
Until they entered a corridor and a lasgun turret dropped out of the roof.
The weapons send a spray of beams across the corridor cutting down anyone not in marine armor or  protected by the powers of the warp.
Then massive doors closed cutting the ship into airtight sections boxing in the intruders.

The trapped Rubric marines quicly dispatched of the drop-down turret, blasting it to bits with well aimed bursts of bolter fire. After that, they waited. They had no sorcerer to blast the way clear or to guide them.
In other parts of the ship, several dozen more normal chaos marines used melta bombs and power weapons to slowly, door after door, bulkhead after bulkhead, make their way towards their objectives.

Before long, the blast doors of the hangar bays was breached by the second wave, the oblitterator cult of living weapon platforms starying to make a more rapid progress towards the stern, followed closely by the crazed dreadnaughts, the Sorcerer lord and a couple of dozen more rubric marines. Theese moved faster due to the sorcerer guiding their incorporeal spirits locked inside the blue and golden suits of armour. As they moved through the ship, the numbers of the second wave swelled as lesser deamons spontaneously took physical form in the great sorcerer's presense. Pink and blue horrors, screamers and flamers of Tzeentch flocked to the ship like ants to honey.

That was the very moment they had waited for.
Many things happened at the same time.
The large corridor behind the main hangars, used to move spare parts and entire small craft around filled with land raiders and soldiers opening fire on the breaches in the bay doors, creating killing zones cutting down anything that moved trough.

A shiver in the air, with a sudden drop of temperature announced their arrival.
They teleported inside the hangar amidst the chaos forces.
"In the name of the one true emperor I shall cleanse thee with the might of purity"
The force axe cut trough a rubic marines armor, the psionic power inside the weapon severing the link between soul and suit.
The sheer presence of these forces made the lesser deamons squeal in pain and some of those close enough dissapeared back to the warp in panic.
Others that were not fast enough fell to the hail from storm bolters.
A force spear flung with great strength pierced the rearward armor of a dreadnought releasing it's force inside the machine and sending it down.

The Grey knights had appeared.

The Two traitors moved, guiding 3 Chaos Space Marines. They looked at a small door, and quickly, taking small, homemade bombs, set them on the door. They ran back a couple of feet, and denoted. The door fell. Quickly, the cultists motioned for the Chaos Space Marines to move. They enterd the room, and began firing as fast as they could. Mean while, the Culsits had used the shadows and concled themselves. When a chaos space marine was killed, the cultists stood up and began firing at the crew. Hopefully, they would win. If not, then oh well.

Crewmen and imperial guards alike flooded the corridors.
Inside a small control room along the outer section of the Astrogators office a group of chaos Marines wrecked havoc.
There were so preoccupied killing the technicians inside the room getting past to the inner sanctum that they didn't pay attention to their rear.
Guardsman Valtus heard the weapons fire as he approached at the head of his squad.
"Get the grenades. Trough the door on my signal. Stay behind the frame." he ordered his men.
They pulled out frag grenades,  removed the safety bolts and on Valtus command threw them inside the room from the side of the door.
A tremendous explosion was heard inside and a gust of fire swept out of the room.
The place fell silent and Valtus yelled is order storming inside.
"Onward for the glory of the guard"
He turned inside the door and opened fire from his las-gun.

ooc I am going to mostly use lasers and other energy based hand weapons here as they don't ricochet off the walls. ;)
Bara it's the room your men were in.

The cultists quickly shielded themselves when they saw the grenades. When they looked up, they saw the chaos space marine still alive. They quickly went back to firing, this time, aiming for the charging guards men. They were soon in hand to hand combat. The cultists knifes, digging straight into the loysiats necks. They kicked away there bodys, and began firing agian, this time, killing one of the techians.

" I got that one!"

*selgrix Planet, Ground, Imperial Base*

Vink finished up  cooking the Sky Demons. He placed them on everyones plates, then stood up.

"Well guys. I know we lost a couple of guys, but, i have to say. This is going to taste really good"

Vink began to eat his meal, and notice Xexrves just looking at his. he moved over.

"whats wrong?"

Xerxes grinned at Vink then took a big bite.

"Damn things killed my men. Serves them right." he said taking another one with a defiant look in his face.

"Well" he tought. "Isn't tasting as bad as it looks."

Onboard the "Starslayer".

The marines armor had withstood the explosive force and the shrapnel's. the entire room however was a pile of rubble with live wires hanging loose and torn machinery creating a dangerous labyrinth of sharp edges and pointy spikes.
As Valtus turned trough the door he saw a chaos marine turn around and dodged beneath it.
Las-gun fire cut into the armor with little effect. Some of his men made it rough the door before the traitor marines cut them down.
Valtus got up just to feel a sudden sting in his neck. He felt a strong pain in his throat and looking down he saw a blade extend from it.
He tried to curse the coward who had attacked him from behind but could only make a gargling voice.
The blade retracted and Valtus sank to his knees.
"Guide me onward emperor." he said in his mind before the world turned black.

Seeing there leader fall and recognizing the uniform of a crewman on the cowardly murderer the guards yelled out in anger.
Two of them attacked the man. Too close for weapons fire they drew their knives and overran him.
One hit him in the sholder while the other drove his knife trough his skull.
"Traitorous scum. You will die." the guard screamed.

"what the?"

The other cultist turned around, and fired his bolt pistol into the two loyalists. they both fell, and he took there Las guns. He quickly sheathed his bolt pistol ,and began firing with the las gun. he took careful aim, and fired. He missed by a few centimeters. He kept on firing at a moving target. He then heard a whine of a chainsword. He whirled around. A Loysilt was charging him. he quickly fired, each shot missing. Only when they were right on top of him, he hit him. And that was only his arm. They engaed in a brutal brawl, each trying to kill each other. no matter what they did, they couldnt kill each other. they just couldnt get into a good angle.

*Selgrix, Ground*

"Well, yeah its good. I made it."

Vink grinned at his friend.

"you know, if you dont mind me asking. You rember when we had that first battle, and we coutner charged you, but we gave up. Why did you let us live?"

Selgrix-surface Imperial command post/ Landing zone

Xerxes looked at Vink.
"Because out there you fought honorably and showed bravery. The very foundation of the guard is Honor and bravery and servitude to the god-emperor of mankind" he said taking another chunk of meat.
"This sure is better than our army rations" he added.

Aboard "Starslayer"-Bridge

The bridge crew fought with the ships controls. Using the maneuvers thrusters and auxiliary engines they tried to keep distance and keep their shields between  themselves and the chaos warship.
The gunnery mates kept firing the main batteries while the anti-fighter weapons tried to shoot down the advancing small craft.
The Adeptus Mechanicus sealed off entire sections of the vessel releasing the atmosphere to kill all unprotected intruders.
The shadowy figure in the background moved across the bridge towards one of the control stations.
he pulled out a Las-pistol and aimed it at the Adeptus head.
"Time to end this charade" he said and melted the man's skull. there was a short scream as the Mechanicus head burst in flames and his eyes popped out due to the laser-beam boiling the fluid in his skull.
"In the name of the emperor I hereby cleanse this vessel from your form heretic."

After that he ordered. "Disengage this mans console Master Mechanicus then try and restart the systems. the shields should come up. We are not yet out of surprises."

Aboard "Starslayer"-Control Room/ Entrance to the Astronomican.

The chaos marines having dispatched most of the guardsman left the remaining attackers to the heretics. They turned their attention towards the door of the inner sanctum and started to work on a break-trough.
Lemes shoulder hurt from the Laser weapons hit. His flesh had been burned but his anger about one of their own betraying them and the ship kept him from loosing his consciousness. Chainweapon in hand he stabbed at the traitor , both rolling across the floor.
While his left hand pressed against the crewman's face, his fingers trying to gouge out his eyes, his right hand came up hitting the heretic on the shoulder.
The chain cut into the mans flesh searing trough muscles and sinew finally biting deep in his bones nearly severing the left arm off.

"SHIIIITTTTT!!!!"

The Culist bit the loyasilt, and then threw him with his one remaining aim. Taking his bolt pistol, he aimed for his head, and fired. Then, a lasblast hit him. His eyes went back into his skull, and he fell down. He would not fight any longer in this battle. or the next.

*Selgrix, Ground*

Vink and Xexrves stood side by side, as the commander gave the briefing of the next mission.

"This will be a simple recon. We have reports of our new Local Scouts of some kind of large Emmey force. They could be Chaos, or Tau. They have taken over a large trading post, and has made it into some kind of damenioc sturce. Our Tech-Priests say that they could have over 1/4 of the plaent under there rule. We must see confirm these reports. The Emperor Protects"

Vink picked up his scoped rifle. He looked at it and smiled. He had made these rifle himself, using what ever spare parts he could find in the wastes. Most people had these kind of rifles, and the general term for it was a Waste Rifle. They were easy to make, and ammo was cheap. But, each gun was spacial. They had a long range, and could rip off a unarmored limb in one shot. He cocked the lever and looked at xexrves. He had his bolter. He turned to his Squad.

"Alright. I want 1st sqaud up front. If you see any trouble, i want you to fire a flare, then find cover. We will move up, and support you. 2nd squad, i want your mortars to be ready to pound the emeny when ready. Xexrves, you want us to follow you, or you to follow us?"

"HA! So much for cultists!"

"Let's quit playing around now brothers, let them know the power of the dark gods!"

Apostle Ymer fiered his combi-melta at the door to the Astropath's cells, melting both locks and hinges, the door falling to the deck with a resounding clang.
Without hesitation, two of the word bearers accompanying him threw a couple of frag grenades through the door, letting them detonate before stepping inside, spraying half a clip of bolts each, saturating the room and moving on to check if there was anything left alive or in state of possible repair.
The three quarters of the squad that had not been needed inside the navigation central arrived shortly there after and took up overwatch positions where they could flank anyone trying to get to the navigation central.

Down in the hangar bays, the battle was fierce, many of the lesser deamons were beeing cut down by the grey knights as fast as they manifested and a dreadnaught had been released from his insanity. Seeing this new threat that definitely needed dealing with, lord Ahriman focussed his powers on a single knight. His chants rose and fell, all the while accellerating in pace until they reached a crescendo and stopped.
From the sorcerer's staff, a strange cloud seeped forward, engulfing one of the knights, hiding him from view while he started screaming. The screams were becoming ever louder but at the same time more and more warped. Eventually, the cloud dissapated to reveal a horrible sight to the knight's battle brothers. The sanctified armour was no more holy, it's pauldrons and plates were twisting and writhing with leering, agonized faces, the helmet had opened, revealing it as fused to the knight's own face, the visor instead beeing part of an unnaturally large maw filled with razorsharp teeth. Where the sides of the breast plate should be, there was now a series of extra limbs ending in sharp claws dripping with venom and long fleshy spikes protruded through the back-armour. Flailing and howling madly, without any resemblance of sanity, the thing charged it's former brothers, each slash of it's claws cutting serious gashes in the armour of anyone too slow to dodge.
In the other end of the hangar, a dreadnaught brought one of it's chainfists crashing into a knight, severing him in two without any visible effort before continuing towards the next, cutting a bloody swathe of death through loyalist and heretic alike, seemingly without distinction.
Focussed on ranged combat, the oblitterators took up position on as high ground they could, morphing their bodies to form lascannons and multimeltas to rain hot death upon their ancient enemies from above.

"Starslayer" - Astronomican

The wordbearers had secured the office and were storming the Astropath's cells to find them-empty.
Also the frag grenades and the bolter fire had done considerable damage there should have been at least some remains of those inside. Torn limbs. burned bones or other ghastly parts of organic matter.
The only thing inside the corridor was a metallic cylinder with some dents and scratches from the weapons effect.
And a voice from the speaker system. "Welcome to your doom."
At the same moment with a deep hum the  melta bomb powered up its microwave emitters sending the deadly radiation about the room starting to heat up the traitors armor making it melt and crack from the thermal shock.

"Starslayer"-Hangar

Grand Master Gallus stepped forward while one of the battle brothers released his fallen comrade from the taint of the warp, cutting him down were he still transformed.
"In the name of the holy god-emperor who is my master may his spirit protect me, may his hand guide me , may his strength be at my side." Continuing his chant he pushed his force halberd towards the magician releasing its powerful psionic energy's upon contact with the sorcerer. At the same time two more Grey Knights., Horrors and cultists still hanging on to their  armor turned towards the mage swinging their force weapons, attacking him from three sides and connecting with his unholy form. They released all their anger and despise at the traitors and the unholy end of on of their brothers trough their weapons channeling their energies. The Knights were willing to die to bring down this enemy.
The remaining knights started to chant and raise their voices.

Meanwhile as the assault had been hampered by the Knights the guards made their advance. Dreadnoughts, infantry and land raiders made it trough the gap pushing back the advancing chaos forces.
A missile salvo stopped the rampaging dreadnought while the armored units cut a swath trough the enemy.
The infantry stayed behind the armored line firing from las-guns, throwing grenades and firing missiles into the maelstrom of bodies.
The entire hangar had turned into a bloody mess of fire, shrapnel and screams.
Also the havoc around him could not hurt the sorcerer Ahriman it severely hampered his concentration as the corpse of a cultist was flung at his face by an nearby explosion and his form sprayed by numerous shrapnel.

"Starslayer"-Bridge
The Adeptus Mechaniucs were working as fast as they could trying to restart the systems to circumvent the sabotage done by the traitor.
Two men were in the process of removing the corpse while some technicians disassembled his control console to make sure that it was no longer connected to the ship in any way.
As they dismantled more and more of it they found the systems and circuits inside to be shaped in strange forms , some of the wires looking more like living veins than cables.
The Inquisitor stepped forward, immediately calling back the technicians and beginning the chant of purity. Two tech priests appeared by his side lighting incense and falling into the chant supporting the Inquisitor who started to melt away the console with his las-pistol.
"Success" one of the men called out.
"Systems are coming back on line we have control and power of the shields. Engines are restarting."
As the las pistol melted away the brain.like lump sitting in the middle of a nest of cables the ships controls returned.

"Dismantle the wall" Inquisitor Strax said. "We must make sure that we get all of this out."
"Once we severe were they connect with the regular systems we will be safe."

ooc I am not loosing this ship without a fight. The knights will concentrate in bringing down Ahriman as he is the source to the daemons powers a if their leader falls they will not press the attack.
The knights will use their force weapons and the "Holocaust" power . The latter will be used to incinerate anything around him and separate him from his forces, creating more room for the knights to maneuver.
The land raiders and dreadnoughts should take care of the obliterators and enemy dreadnoughts.
I may have another surprise but first I will see how this battle is coming.
Title: Re: Battle for Selgrix
Post by: The Empire on December 13, 2007, 07:46:25 PM
Using their teleporters, a large number of oblitterators managed to get close enough to most of the land raiders to score fatal hits with morphed twin-linked meltaguns.
Ahriman was furious, blocking the halberd of the knight with his own force weapon while fiering a series of deadly inferno bolts from his pistol directly at the knight's head, tearing his head and part of the backpack coolant exhausts clean off. A chaos marine was hit by an overshot bolt and died like his armour had been made of paper.
Though initially blocked from moving by the mass of own troops in front of them, the last chaos dreadnaughts pushed through the debris near the breaches and entered the fray, catching the overconfident loyalist forces in the flank.

With the nearest space around him clear, Ahriman could concentrate enough to foresee the outcome.
He sent out his thoughts to the oblitterators and then vanished in a purple haze only to reappear on board the Voice of Despair, his personal battleship that just exited the warp along with the surviving oblitterators. Leaving the Word Bearers to their own destiny, Ahriman's ship re-entered the warp and was gone before the loayalists could react.

OOC: Wonder wheres pach....

Vink led his small squad around the Junk hill. There were many of these. Collected over the years. Most people like them, gives them some metal to work with, And, cover when two Bands meet, and there trading doesn't go well. Vink looked through the scope. Hills, a burned out harvester, a small fire left going, and a small tint of glass.

Oh Shit

The Rocket barley missed him, the junk pouring down.

"What the.."

Vink could barely finish his senctce before anthoer Rocket flew over his head. He quickly ran to some cover, and he tried looked for the shooter, and bullets were flying everywhere. He took small a unlucky soldier, his head was turned. He solwy began to turn his head. Then, Vink called up Xexveres on his Vox-Caster

"Damn it Xexres, what the hell are you doing? You almost got a rocket stuck inside my head@"

"That was you? God, im so sorry"

"Yeah, just make sure that that doesnt happen agian"

"Got it"

Vink and his platoon got up, and walked toawrs them. Nobody was hurt, they resumed there Combot Patrol. A few timkes, they saw some bands, and they lleft them alone. He climbed to the top of a hill. A small trading post, with a Tavern.

Perfect...

"Xexerves, I'm going inside that village for a few minutes. If i dont come back when the sun is midway, i want you to call in a air strike there."

Vink took him, and a few others into. His cloak was swriling about in the wind. He kept his kinfe on his back, and he held his shotgun. He walked through the village, and enterd the tavern. It was the best place to hire Mercines, and others. Milita fighters were there, always looking for more money. Gladiators, who fought for money, visted there often, maybe selling himself out to a passing band. Off Worlders, the ones who survied the wrecks, carrying there fancy wepons, that could pirece even the best armour.

"Anybody here want some extra Galacs?"

Almost everyone turned around and looked at Vink.

"I will pay each who joins us 25 Galacs"

Whispers were heard around. That wasnt chump change. It was 6 months pay for most workers. Then, 40 men stood up.

"We'll join."

"Good, you all will be paid every month."

They left the tavern. They crossed the hill, a motley lot. Some had Wastlerifles, others had Axes. Some had a bolter, and some had a Flamerthrower.

"Xexrves, where you want to go?"

Selgrix-Ground

"Where did you get those men?" Xerxes asked.
He walked close to Vink and looked over his shoulder from time to time.
"I mean can you guarantee for their loyalty? I wonder."
He pulled out a map-display.
"We will go to Sierra-16. This outpost reported an attack by Tau units. We should approach from this valley between the debris piles, that would give us cover until we are close to the outpost.
I want your men to take up positions on those hill. Take the rocket launchers.
I will take one man and advance to the outpost."
Also keep our snipers ready. From the last data the outpost send  the enemy should be around here."

"Starslayer"-Bridge

"We have regained control of the ship systems" a crewman reported.
"Well done. Fire main thrusters on the port side" Captain Armand ordered.
"Bring her about on present course."
"But Captain that will.." the helmsman began
"..make us crush into his superstructure. I know." the Captain ended the sentence.
The helm started to complete the captains command the mighty vessel swinging about faster than it could with only manuevering thrusters. Despite the inertia-dampers the crew felt the force of acceleration.
The dreadnought swung about, the proximity of both vessels leaving little time to react.
It's bow section crashed into the chaos vessels superstructure, shearing it off and bringing the "Starslayer" on top of  her enemy.
"Upper manuever thrusters on full power. Press him into the atmosphere. Disengange gravity controllers. Let him feel our weigth"

"Starsalyer"-Hangar

The moment Grand Master Gallus died he released a flash of psionic energy and on leaving the mortal plane supported his brethren in their battle.
The grey knights finished their chant and released the Holocaust. The fiery maelstrom consumed what stood around for several hundred feet. The psionic fire left only the sorcerrer and his chaos marines standing.
The same moment while he had killed Gallus and before the other two marines were able to connect with him the sorcerrer dissapered in a flash of purple and was..GONE. Gone together with most of his army.
Only the word bearers and rubric marines were left behind, the former ones turning towards their chaos brethren and cutting into their ranks..
The Grey Knights turned towards there treacherous brethren and released them of their mortal form.

ooc: Sorry but I was attacked by the greater daemon of laziness.
The last few days I just couldn't get myself to do much.
Happens  a lot around Christmas. This time is mentally not the best of the year for me.

So I am going to loose this battle but I will take as many of the chaos forces with me as I can.
If that is possible there will also be a teleport shield put up around the bridge.

OOC: I suggest you re-read my previous post. Ahriman left the system and the other chaos forces upon forseeing the outcome, that character is way too special to succumb in such a petty conflict so he jumped ship and won't be present anymore...

Abandoned by their belived allies, the word bearers in the hangar bays that survived the psykic blast turned on the rubric marines left behind by Ahriman, releasing the trapped souls by shredding their armour with bolt and power weapon. None of them paying any attention to the new shudders and groans from the ship that was supposed to be dead in space until the hull beneath them was ripped open by the two capital ships' collision and they were sucked out into the void.

The marines in the dreadnaught's superstructure slowly fought their way towards the bridge, unaware of what transpired a mile below until they heard the collission warning sirens start wailing when they, decimated to only two dozen marines, reached the final blast doors.

ooc: I have edited the post according to your information.
Sorry but I must have overlooked this.

"Starsalyer"-Hangar

With the hangar bay being shredded to pieces and the air escaping into the void, massive doors closed sealing air-ducts and passageways.
The Grey Knights escaped the havoc by teleporting into the ship.
So they concentrated at the jump they still were dispersed all over the vessel.
"Report and reform" Brother Graxus ordered his fellow knights.

"Starslayer"-Bridge

The impact was tremendous. The entire ship moaned like a wounded beast as the two vessels connected.
Even so the inertia dampers prevented the worst many crewmen were injured and killed, being thrown around by the forces of the crash.
"Disengage main drive. Stabilize position" Captain Armand ordered.
Atop the chaos barge the maneuver thrusters fired, bringing the dreadnought to a halt.
The upper thruster firing and exerting her full weight against the enemy the "Starslayer" trapped the chaos ship between her hull and the planets gravity.
With her bridge destroyed the chaos barge started to sink towards the planet.
Circling the world below the vessel entered the atmosphere it's outer hull beginning to glow as shield failed due to massive damage.
"Captain, we have another vessel inbound. Another chaos ship" one of the seekers reported.
before Armand could answer or even look at the screen a new message came.
"It's gone. The vessel warped out."

"Starslayer"-Bridge outer bulkhead door

"They are behind the door" Brother Captain Yankus said.
He had taken position with the second squad. So they were still shaken by the death of Grand Master Gallus they concentrated on the task at hand.
The losses suffered by the Grey Knights in this battle had been severe, but they would see to it that those losses weren't for naugth.

"Got it"

Vink looked at his Mercs. As with most peolpe on Selgrix, they will be ture to there word, as long as you are to yours. As long as they will be payed every 3 months, then they will fight as long as they can breath. Vink looked at the map agian. It wasn't too Far Off, maybe a mile of so. He spilt the  Mercs up into 4 groups, and told them to keep there spacing. They walked on, maybe for a hour or so, then reached the valley. He put the rockets coverin g the only entrace and exit to the outpost, the valley, while the mercs were scarrted about. If anybody came, they would have to face them. Everyone.

Breaching the bridge blast door in a shower of flames and molten metal, the chaos marines stormed in, boltguns, plasma guns and heavy bolters spitting death as they charged through the breach and onto the bridge.
The first three through the blasted door was cut down before they knew what hit them, their following squad members taking the fight up close and personal with their ancient hated enemy. Power axe and chainsword clashed with force glaives, both sides matched step by step in reflexes, strength and determination, the fight carried on, the only differences were the grey knight's superior weapons and psykic abilities against the Word Bearers greater numbers, either advantage taking it's toll on the other side until the great vessel joined it's dark nemesis as an ever growing glow on the skies above Selgrix.

The last order of the chaos captain as he realized the evasive manouvers weren't going to be enough was to abandon ship. Because of this, a number of assault craft and antiquated drop pods inferior to the dreadclaw class now made their way towards the planet surface, attempting to reach Artemis' primary LZ, a few dozen miles away from where the two formerly space-borne behemoths was destined to crash.
Title: Re: Battle for Selgrix
Post by: Bara on December 16, 2007, 08:17:41 PM
Vink looked up towards the sky. He saw that these drop pods were coming down.

"Probably just more Imperials..."

He looked through the scope of his waste rifle. He began looking around, secarhing for Emeny. He then heard a massive Explsion. He looked up, and two ships began to crash down, maybe 50 miles away. Then, he was force off his feet. He was thrown off the pile of scarp that he was using, and he saw a peice of metal land right next to him. He ran towards anthoer hemp, while others were hding. Vink saw Xexerves, and quickly pulled him behind the pile.

"Whats going on?"

Emp, the troop transport send a signal to the Inquisition before it went down ( a few posts earlier in the topic). Could you give me a idea how long it would take them to send a ship?   ???
I have no clear idea about how fast WH40K ships travel. i only read that the time is inconsistent due to the "Immaterium"
Any idea how to resolve this?
Title: Re: Battle for Selgrix
Post by: The Empire on December 20, 2007, 04:28:10 PM
OOC: I won't be back online either until after new year, The 'Immaterium' of the warp is tricky indeed, travelling from one system to the next can take everything from a few weeks (As it would in the Star Wars universe) to hundreds of years and that goes for communications too. It is far from unknown that distress calls from fringe worlds arrive at a more central system and when the support forces sent out arrives a few weeks later, the world is empty with no human life having existed there since a thousand years earlier. Take a randomizer with numbers from 0.1 to 500 and a preference for lower numbers, then you do that twice, add the result and that's the time in months it takes for the investigation forces to arrive.

Vink looked at Xerxes. He saw this hug chuck of metal sticking out. When he finally saw Xerxes, his Arm had been Sliced off. Blood was pooling under neath his arm.

"oh crap"

Vink picked up Xerxes. Carrying his Gear was Easy, but carrying 2 Gear sets and a Grown man, wasn't. He carried him. After walking a Few Steps, a Large of Rattle of shots ran off. Then, the war Cry came. Waaaaggghhh! It sent Chills up Vinks back. His men then regrouped around hm. they knew how to fight these Orks. Yet, they were out numbered. They appeared at the back of the Group. Thry fired there rifles at the Large Mob, charging at them at full speed. They fired as Fast as the could, then Fired Faster. Soon, the Orks where own Vinks Squad. Xerxes squad was giving them Cover Fire. Vinks other squad was working around the back. Vink was hightailing to a waiting Valkyrie. He loaded Xerxes, then his saw a Bolt pistol in his face. he slowy looked up. The man said only a few words.

"Get out of here, Twist"

The man fired the round. Vinks life-less body fell to the ground. The Valkyrie lifted off and flew away to the base. vinks Squads were killed. Xexrves quad barely made it to the base. The Battle of Selgrix, got uglier.

For a while, the Tau forces were now forced into hiding deep within the jungles, where they slowly began to rebuild. The loss of many of their soliders have forced them into a gurellia war in the jungles. Orks and Chaos are making constant probes into the region. The loss of the lead Ethernal, meant the O'Kais was the Commander of all of the Tau forces on the planet. The Kroot have found a new home in the jungles and are currently hunting the native savage Ork clans so that the Waaaahhhh can't get more troops. The Tau stealth shock troops were making the entry into the jungle hard. O'Kais looked at a holographic map of the region. He was recieving troops every week from the Empire, but he still needed to find a way to break out of the jungles and force the Chaos and Orks back. The Imperial Guard would not be a problem when the rest of the factions were destroyed.

The natives in the Jungle looked down. Outsiders were camping in there Scared place. They has Animal Skin Gliders, and Warriors were behind them.

"We need them destroyed. Great Spirit will not be please"

"Scouts had been sent out. They die"

"Then we must avenge"

The Older Chief looked down. He saw that savage beasts were roaming the camps. He had huge Power over the forest tribes. He had lead many War-Party's into the Wastelands. They were the Enemy, not these outsiders.

"No. Make Friends with outsiders"

The Younger Chiefs were shocked. They had never heard something like this from the Great Chief. The Great Chief spoke Agian.

"I saw this in vision, after eating Scared Powder. These are the ones in Vision."

The younder chiefs shook there heads, but they swooped down, and landed inside the camp. They droped there weapons when the outsiders, and singaled they wanted to see the Leader. These outsiders could have a new ally.

OOC: GCE, have you read all posts previous before you posted? I am still waiting to interrogate one of your fire-warrior officers...

The battle was against the Tau forces the whole time. The fire warriors had no support. No battlesuits, no Kroot, no Vespids, and no O'Kais The outpost was easily overrun. Aun'shi, a Fire Warrior commander was dragged to the feet of a demonic Chaos Marine. He hated them. Aun'shi was bleeding from his nose and he was covered in dirt and blood. He looked at the Chaos, and turned to the leader he was brought before. He stood up weakily and definatly said. "Are you my interrogator...or...my executioner?"

The Tavern was filled with smoke, and talk. The small Boomtown had sprung up near the Imperial Guard camp. The Tavern with Rumors regarding Vinks platton.

"I heard it was a ork shot. Right through the head"

"Nah. Orks aren't that good of shots"

"You never know. I heard of a Grot that shot on hunter in the knee, then killed him with a shot in the head"

"Thats a rumor"

"Just like how i spelt with your wife?"

The Female Dancers continued to dance, even when a bloody man entered the Tavern. He stumbled towards the bar. He knocked into some people, but he manged to eek out the words that made everybody head turn.

"I...was...part of vinks...platoon....get me a medic..."

At once, the men of the Tavern lifted the wounded man, and carried him into the camp. The Camps guards let them after they saw the wounded man. They set him down on a operting table. The men stayed around the camp, some joined the 1st Selgrix Rifles. Some went back to the Tavern. All they knew was, that they found someone let alive.

'Selgrix is indeed the place I recokned it to be at first glance from the holograms,' First Admiral Julius Reinhaus said, as he guided the URNV Vogel into low orbit over Selgrix.  The massive Williams-class dreadnought hovered over a wide stretch of open plains on Selgrix.  The low hum of the engines was amplified by the dish basin's shape, which bounced the sound waves back at the Urtaran Republic's  flagship.

'However, I suppose there must be some reasoning for Navcom deploying me here.  And this basin must be it.' Indeed, Reinhaus had recieved little information upon departing Station Prime in orbit around Earth when he was tasked with it.  However, inspecting the hold revealed a plethora of mining equipment and some small, portable structures that could be moved onto the planet surface and used for housing, laboratories or defensive structures.  There were about a hundred miners crammed into the spare bunks as well.

When the Vogel arrived at Selgrix, Reinhaus seemed unimpressed- the planet looked just as timid as any other.  When he had set his dreadnought down in that basin, barely large enough to accomodate the girth of the massive dreadnought he piloted, he hadn't seen anything important either.

The miners, however, thought differently.  As soon as the cargo bay doors swung open the first miners were already about the planet and taking core samples with small drills.  When the first one was analyzed, they went hog wild, started dancing merry jigs and other...  More inappropriate... Things....  Right on the spot.  The first developments were already set up by the time Reinhaus, stranded on the dreadnought's bridge, learned of the importance of this basin.

The core samples had turned up a massive deposit of raw Averopium ore, which was used in the production of armor plates for the almost legendarily durable Urtaran Navy's ships.  When Reinhaus recieved the info, he seemed impressed either way.

'Well...  Perhaps there is a point in coming here after all...' He thought as the last bit of cargo was unloaded.  He gladly lifted the Vogel into high orbit and awaited the other ships to arrive.

'Pity there's a war on now...  If it weren't for that fact I would be back home resting and living off an admiral's budget far from all the pomp and circumstance a war hero would normally recieve.  But instead, I'm ferrying miners back and forth from Earth to tiny developments on some godforsaken wartorn planet.  But hey, money's money.'
