Tower 12
« on: October 07, 2007, 01:36:35 PM »
::Sheya, Capital of Feniexia, 14:23
::Core District 2; Tower 12

On all of Tower 12s 65 floors, people were busily preparing themselves and the building for the arrival of the Canadian royal family. Over loudspeakers and monitors, orders were given by the Feniexian administration. Since the war was almost over, and the threat of American agents getting into Feniexia was very low, the king decided to visit a few of Feniexia's most interesting places; although they also decided to restrict their tour on the Core Districts, were the safety standards and the army presence were even higher than in the rest of Feniexia. Tower 12 was not only the largest museum of Feniexia; it was one of the highest buildings in Feniexia, only surpassed in height by the Citadel, the home of the Feniexian Royal Family, administration and the High Council.
Lots of windows and glass and a futuristic design; not only the height, but also the architecture of this building was amazing. On it's top, there was a large viewpoint platform. One might be able to catch a look on the far away islands out of Feniexia's main borderlines; everyone knew however that the government would never tolerate foreign bases on that terrain, and is planning to construct military bases to ensure their grip on those lands. At least, on clear days; the weather in Feniexia was mainly very foggy and rainy, sunny weather occurred only rarely.

The preparations were done just in time; the car transporting the Emperor, the Empress and the Canadian family arrived just at the moment when the scanning and cleaning of the last section of the tower was finished. Heavily armored members of the Feniexian High Guard were now patrolling the tower and the military restricted access to the place were the tower was built and blocked the way for all civilians.

Soon, the royal families of both Feniexia and Canada reached the entrance. The director, maybe 60 or even 70 years old, of the Tower already awaited them. He bowed politely, and also saluted to the guards accompanying the families. After all greeting routines were finished and he introduced himself as "Koizumi Tarō", he announced, that the first section to view will be "Antic cultures", and that they will need to take one of the many lifts. It took about 2 minutes, then they reached level 52, were the museum director presented objects from the different cultures, always trying to be as informative and polite as possible.

Emperor Paul, his wife and native Feye Empress Selene and their sixteen-year-old daughter, Princess Alia were walking with their long-time friends, the Emperor and Empress of Feniexia. Paul loved Feneixia, mostly for it's beauty and culture. He always thought that the security measures in this country were way over to the extreme. He looked at both his wife and daughter. They were conversing with each other in the Feneixian language. They had sent Alia to live with her godparents, the Emperor and Empress of Feneixia so she could learn of her people's culture and language. She was fluent in four languages, Inglish, Quebecois, Feneixian, and Myrorian. She was learning the Xyraeli language, but the fact that the Xyraelis were rivals of PI, it was hard for her to continue her studies. As they walked through the museums to see more exhipits, Paul thought more to himself. He was proud that the Americans were being pushed back from Greater Canada, but he was worried. Word had reached him that the DS Army was preparing one more offensive against the Manitoban Front. With the fall of the railroads, the DS might be able to force Greater Canada to terms. But he pt his faith in the civilian government and in his commanders. He caught Selene looking at him angrily. He had drifted off. He quickly focused on the presentation. He thought. What would he do without her? She was the greatest thing to happen to him. He stood by his friend, Emperor Nathaniel. Both Emperors were loved by their people and were well-known around the world. But Paul continued to pay attention. The director was doing a great job and seemed pleased and excited that he was presenting his museum to not one but two imperial families. Paul walked behind his daughter and put his hands on he shoulders and she looked up at him and smiled. She would make a great Empress one day. But right now was  the time she needed to enjoy her youth.Paul was young when he took the throne  he knew what it was like to rule a nation as a youth. It was hard. But right now was her time to grow and learn, not rule. Nothing would destroy her time.

Nobody has seen him. He quickly reached the apartment in the skyscraper they told him to use for his...job. It was going well, at least, until yet. The plan and the advises they gave him seem to work. Commander Koizumi did not really like the idea of murdering someone outside of an battle...but they said it was all for Feniexia's good. When all Canadian leaders are fallen, their closest allies will inherit their lands. His grip on the sniper rifle he held tightened. It was not really hard to smuggle the weapon up here; he was a high ranked military commander, and as such one, he was allowed to carry a weapon, even in public. He watched the large window trough his scope. It was 14:58, about the time the targets should reach the "Antic cultures" section of the tower. And there they were. The lift doors opened, and the targets along with the Feniexian royal family stepped out. He aimed carefully. It was a pretty foggy day; at least, it doesn't rain like it does most of the time here in he capital. He shot. Two times. The first bullet pierced Paul right trough heart. The second bullet hit Selene; at least, the assassin assumed that, since she collapsed shortly after the bullet . He wanted to go sure and shot a third time; he was not able to see that this last bullet missed Selene and hit Mirai instead - the defense systems were already active, and the iron plates covering the windows also prevented him to see what he had done.

Everything happened so quickly. One minute Paul was watching the presentation next to his daughter and then the next minute he was pierced through the heart. He died instantly. Emperor Nathaniel pulled Alia down, trying to protect his god-daughter. A second later, Selene fell to the ground, but she wasn't hit. The assassin had hit the wrong empress. Empress Miray was down as the bullet had hit her in the shoulder. Selene crawled over and held the wound so she wouldn't continue to bleed. Nathaniel let go of a struggling Alia as she crawled over to her father as he laid in a pool of his own blood. She screamed. "Papa, don't go....please....don't go.....Papa....Papa." All she got as an answer was a silence. Nathaniel took Selene's place so she could see her husband and daughter. She didn't scream, but she held her daughter as they both cried. Guards came in, and when they saw the Emperor of Greater Canada and the Empress of Feneixia lying in blood, they called for an ambulance. Alia looked back at her father with tears in her eyes.
