ooc: I'm gonna be RPing my war efforts in this thread from here on, to reduce clutter and improve clarity.
"Captain! We have a bogey on the air search, bearing 115 and moving at high speeds towards the east!" a radar operator cries out.
Captain Hian switched the view of her console. Sure enough, there was a moving blimp on the radar screen. "Identify it, check for civil tagging and database match!"
"...No matches! Bogey is now 216 km in and closing! Speed, 300-400 knots!"
"Put us onto Class A alert! Ensign Mery, relay our situation to the flagship!"
"Yes Mam!"
Suddenly, an alarm break out. Captain Hian's console began to flash a warning.
"Captain! We been beamed! Picking up military frequency, I band radar! It's coming from the bogey! Estimate detection limit of 190 km!"
The bogey was most likely a Dysaniian patrol aircraft, and at present it's radar system was active. If the aircraft gets any closer, it's radar will pick up the lone Fear one way or another. The next thing to come up might well be a squadron of Dassie fighters.
"Flagship responded! They been beamed as well, frontal arc radar no doubt. Captain, I suggest we adjust course to the main flotilla and get within the Iron Angel's S-300 umbrella."
"Suggestions noted, adjust our course towards the main flotilla!"
C.L.S Fear makes a wide turn, reversing from it's former direction. The main flotilla was 220km away, Captain Hian will need to get her ship a least 80 km in before the flagship's S-300 SAMs can provide any sort of deterrence against Dassie fighters with anti-ship weapons. The Type 53 class frigates were built with anti-ship and anti-submarine warfare in mind, not air defense.
"Turbines at full!"
"Captain, the wind and chop is against us! I don't think we can get above 25 knots!"
"Place RAM systems at full alert, prepare ASM countermeasures! All hands are to have life vest on!"
ooc: Dysanii, you can go ahead and sink the Fear if you want. I want some realism in this engagement, so end your post after your fighters launch their missiles, and I'll pick up from there. Some details on your equipment will help a lot.
