Regional Anthem revisited
« on: April 27, 2012, 10:43:57 PM »
Hey folks,

I realize there was, at one time, talk of a Taijitu regional anthem. So I would like to open discussion on it again.

I have 3 new suggestions for a Taijitu anthem, with even more less known nations and regions than before.

This first one is simple, and simplistic, from Vanuatu: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPfqh7qGKj0&feature=related

The next is actually from Eastern Asia, as it is the anthem of the Republic of China: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPtFLycLLh8

The last one is my personal favorite, it is the Welsh anthem and seems very powerful for some reason: I couldn't find a good instrumental version, so here is one with the Welsh Lyrics included. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtX3M3SuKlQ&feature=related

Today's date is: Today is Jocidi, 5 Cielidor AR 5 - Day 1770 of the Glorious Revolution.

Many trials make manifest
The stranger's fate, the curses' bane.
Many touchstones try the stranger
Many fall, but one remains.

Why not classical music, anything romantic can work. Dvorak's new world symphony, Beethoven's 9th is the European Anthem, could even be a Carl Orff Carmina Burana in any of the middle parts that are beautiful.

More?
Rossini's overture of william tell it'd be funny from all the usage in commercials and comedy.
Schubert's 8th
Strauss' radetski march

idk, I'd stick with Dvorak's typical bursts or Carl Orff's uniqueness.

I really like Dvorak's new world symphony from the beginning to 1:50. I really think it is powerful and overall a nice piece. I think it could work.

My only initial thought so far is I'd prefer avoiding using something that's already an actual anthem for some place, if possible.

Well, now we finally have an answer to that question. Anthem already in use is out. So..... Now we need to find a piece of music and create one!

Gulliver: What do you think about Dvorak's piece?

Brittany Spears: Hit me baby one more time?
Rebecca Black: Friday

Neither are in use as National Anthems. Both would work brilliantly, thoughts? :P

You know what'd fit with Taijitu's motto and all that? Queen - I want to break free

Gulliver: What do you think about Dvorak's piece?

Nice music, but didn't strike me as particularly anthemy. The most anthemy so far that's not a real life anthem so far has been the Oceania one, and I don't want to use that one >_<

This might require some actual formal nomination and decision making process, or we'll just keep getting bogged down.

What would be really nice is if someone knew enough about music that we could make our own. I, alas, have next to no musical training.
