Julia Annius Looked at the speaker taking a seat as her phone rang. she lifted it to her ear "Agent Julia Annius. The meeting in Oz has ended well, I'm glad to hear. I am glad to hear you are arriving."

She spoke up after ending her conversation "Sorry to be a disturbance but if you would wait just a few minutes Antonio Largiou private Jet has just landed. I'm sure he would be glade to come to this."

Gen Wai felt uneasy being surrounded by the sheer number of foreigners in his presence. He could see the many of the prominent delegates were dressed in formal wear that was unfamiliar to him. His robes stood right out in this crowd of suits and uniforms. The strong aroma of burnt incense coming from one of the delegates did not help to ease his nervousness.

He was immediate relieve when little bald elder with rimmed spectacles entered with an uniformed lady...with an eye patch?...the women of this country sure dress strange, he thought. That began the start of the conference. The bald elder greeted the guests, and then implied the start of the meeting.

"Very well, though I would like to finish for today by 5 so that we may all have a chance to prepare for the formal dinner tonight" the old man muttered before stumping off to talk to general Wai "its nice to see I'm not the only one in robes, I've never seen the advantage of these... suits I believe their called, with robes no one can see what you are carrying which" as he drew out a hip flask he smiled at the general before taking a gulp "is always useful.  Ah I see that Largiou fellow has turned up so we may start".

Having stumped back to the podium, Evoleerf began "Now as you I'm sure know, we have recently come out of a messy, very messy civil war and we are getting ourselves back on our feet.  And I feel we are doing quite well, however we feel that through trade with the wider world we can do better, as well as do better by those nations that wish to do well by us.  We are not a rich nation in money, but we are in minerals and in the hardworking ingenious people who make up our population.  If you are in need we will help you as much as we are able, and we hope the same will be felt in return, this is the Llanydern way.  Our technology has stalled, there was little or no development during the civil war and if we are to join the greater world then this must change.  We offer you minerals and lumber and petrochemicals, what we ask for is machinery, experts, professors, doctors, educational materials and medical equipment.  We ask for tools and advice and in return you will be paid, and paid well, we also offer free trading licenses to your nations in gratitude (though we expect the same the other way around of course)." with his speech over he sat down and waited a faint smile playing on his lips....

Without knowing, Gen Wai was the first one to step up. All eyes were on the man from the Loyalist State, the fate of his country's mission on his shoulder.

"As the representative of the humble Dominion of Chinese Loyalist, we would be most honour to open our borders to Llandydern trade." He recites what he had been practicing for the the past three months. "We hope that our two nations may share a bond of friendship and openness, to facilitate both the economic and political well-being of our countries, for the good of the state and people."

A mottle of silent applause came and went. The old man simply nod in acknowledgment. Gen smiles, then takes his seat. His nerves had calm....

His little speech was merely an anecdote to what he had came to do. He had much to do for his country. The mines at Ni Yai needed foreigners with technology to exploit. Acquiring weapon systems was also a high priority. The old man spoke of the backwardness to his country...simply ironic when comparing the difference in advancement with the DCL and Llandydern. They could manufacture cars and firearms, while Loyalists are still riding animals and weaving clothes by hands. Yes the clothes...he had heard that these foreigners could weave a hundred foot of cotton in mere minutes with just one machine. Perhaps later, he would sample the local clothing of this country...

Antonio stood, the agent next to him sat silently his secretary writing down everything that was said. "We at nerdic have already partnered with your fine nation, our business family brings the vast masses of food and harvest the world over to your nation. We also have plans to build a vast transport rail system connecting both seas your nation rests on. This rail system will bring much foreign investment and involvement to your nation. Nerdic will also  be glad to aid by way of our Agent already part of your system who sits next to me. She will aid you by way of our vast contacts and resources to bring foreign trade and technology into your nation."

Black sat there listening carefully to the foreign buisness people. such aspirations in so many minds. he then very gruffly stated, "I was sent by the uichi ryan govornment to see what it is that your nation is seeking, and if you are seeking anything we can provide then we hsall be more than happy to provide it at affordable pricings. also i am here for my own buisness, black death cigarettes, as CEO i have full authority and i have decided that we want to set up our shops and perhaps some farms and factories here in this fine place."

So that's Richard Black, Henry Adams thought to himself as they took a seat near the back of the room. Adams pulled out a Mercantilist Standard cigar and put it in his mouth, drawing a dirty look from one of the Llanydern representatives. He then took it out of his mouth and put it back in his pocket.

As he looked around the room he recognized Antonio Largiou of the Nerdic Food Importation Company. He hadn't met the man, but had seen a number of pictures of him. And he was sharply dressed as usual. He also saw a man dressed in a robe, a rough looking fellow, and a pretty girl.

They waited to see how the meeting progressed. A Llanydern representative had told them as they entered the building that a formal dinner had been scheduled for 5 tonight.

"I'm afraid mister Black that smoking is in fact illegal in our nation at the behest of our minister for health and welfare.  However whatever aid your nation and all the others here today can give will be most heartily welcome"

"It was decided that tobacco was both dangerous and also against the traditions of Llanydern and that was why it was banned along with other harmful narcotics, feel free however to smoke yourselves as diplomatic staff you have immunity to laws regarding yourselves and I myself have been known to smoke a pipe of tananga weed (a type of freshwater sea weed which is dried and smoked prized for its calming qualities (not so prized for it's diuretic properties)) on occasion.  What we need if you want me to be more specific is aid for our health service, mining/oil industry, manufacturing sector and education.  Specifically we need experts to train our personal in the more modern methods as well as examples of equipment."

OOC: Edited my previous post for continuity, I had skimmed the thread hastily before I posted and missed that you introduced my delegates as at the meeting already.

Henry Adams looked over at the Llanydern official who had given him the dirty look before who was apparently surprised by the minister's comments. Adams proceeded to light up his Mercantilist Standard cigar and offer one to the other delegates seated near him.

"This discussion of tobacco intrigues me. Allow me to introduce myself, I am Henry Adam of the Mercantilist Brewing Company," Adams said as he rose to speak. "We are a Mercantilist States based business with assets across Taijitu, and we are interested in expanding our business into Llanydern. We offer a variety of products including an assortment of brews and liquor, as well as tobacco products," directing his last comments towards the other delegates, catching the interest of Richard Black.

"We would like to establish a distribution center in this fine capital of yours; and we of course will limit our selection to only alcoholic products. Secondly, although tobacco is illegal, we wonder if you would allow for the cultivation of tobacco for export. We would use only local labor. Additionally, this Tanaga Weed very intriguing to me, and I would love to share a bowl with you and explore the possibilities of acquiring some sealand for its mass production and export. I believe that there may be a market across Taijitu for such a fine product."

Gregory Defensor of the Easteros Merchant Co. continued.

"I am Greg Defensor of the Easteros Merchant Company, and thank you again for hosting this conference. We own a construction business, among other industries, and we can assist in helping your nation develop infrastructure. Additionally, we operate a textile business and can establish a textile factory here. We would hire only local labor and purchase only fabrics grown in your nation (OOC: unsure of your resources, the resource list has gone MIA). Also, we have partial ownership of Merchant Oil and, although I would have to consult with the Board of Directors first, they would most likely be interested in establishing oil rigs here to help facilitate production and export."

Richard Black smiled at Henry Adams now here is a man worth talking to. he lit up a mercantalist cigar and offered Henry and Gregory a Black Death Cigarette each. Underneath the cigarette handed to Hery was a note reading:

we need to talk about future dealings between our companies
-Black- (insert jolly roger)

He then with  great pride said, "The Education Systems in Uichi Ryu are among the finest in Taijitu, we do have more teachers than we realy need. Perhaps we ould arrange for some of them to be contracted as teachers throughout the education system here as well as placing in a system that will suit your nation better. Actualy i need to know if education here is privatised or provided. If it is allowed my company would be more than happy to build some private institutions of higher learning. Does any of this appeal to you?"

OOC: As Tananga weed is not on my resource list I was just adding it in to add flavor for my nation.  Wool is the main textile in my nation.

IC: "Well gentlemen your offers are most welcome, firstly to mister Black all education is delivered by the state, though at the moment the Holy Orders offer some education however this is being discouraged.  Education is split into the civil service colleges, medical colleges and technical colleges, there is also the University of Aberystwyth which specializes in law, international politics, Biology and Physics.  To mister Adams and mister Defensor it is perhaps best I explain how our industry works, it is on a sharing system between the workers and the body of the other owner, which at the moment is the state.  Mostly we are asking for machinery to update factories that already exist."

OOC: well you don't necessarily have to have it listed on your resource list as a narcotic, since you established it as a seaweed. And I like the flavor  ;), hence why I'd like to "seafarm" it.

IC:

Hmm...I thought this was a trade conference, Ambassador William Jackson thought to himself. He glanced over at Secretary of Commerce Alexander Wallis who he saw roll his eyes, and he chuckled to himself. He knew Wallis had little patience for socialist systems.

"What about trade?" Jackson asked. "Such as tariffs?"

damn these wannabe communists, they wouldn't know proper socialism if it bit them in the ass. stroking his rifle he said, "Agreed if this is a trade conference we need to know what your trading policies are."
