ATTACK BY UFA LEAVES TWO-HUNDRED THIRTY-SIX DEAD
Today, in Capconia City, the Unlimited Freedom Alliance (UFA,) openly claimed responsibility for their role in a gas attack on Capconia Central Railway Station that left approximately two-hundred and thirty-six people dead, and countless more suffering from problems related to the gassing. The gas has been determined to be Axlon-2, a toxic chemical that was originally developed for military usage, but after protests from the general public and issues voiced by the Health Ministry, it was declared banned under the Capconian Military Treaty, which bans the use of weapons that could cause massive deaths as well as pose a threat to civilian life.
The UFA is a group which has claimed that the Capconian government is blatantly lying about being a free state, and has been known to appear at random times to protest, and while they have inflicted damage to civilian property before, this is the first known instance of them deliberately launching an attack against civilians with the intent of killing them. They claim that they are merely exercising their right to free expression of their views.
Defense Minister Xymon Mecondier has issued this statement, "The Capconian government has taken this threat very seriously in the past, and we admit that we let our guard down. We assure the people that we will see to it that stricter measures are taken to protect against attacks like this in the future. The entire nation's Ministries of Law have been alerted, and as a result the police presence in public is being stepped up. In addition, the military will be ready for deployment if the need should arise.
"That does not mean, however, that the public should panic. This is merely a precaution. We want everyone to know that our freedom will not be sabotaged. We will still allow everyone to enjoy their lives however they wish."
