Parliament debates the Dysanii war
« on: October 29, 2007, 06:29:39 PM »
Inglo-Scotian Parliamentary breakdown:

The Rt Hon. Stephen Crofts, Tory Leader, Prime Minister

The Rt. Hon. Kennith Little, Labour Leader, Leader of HIM's Loyal Opposition

The Hon. Charles Bolton, Social Liberal Leader

The Rt. Hon. Jasper Vance, Speaker of the House of Commons

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"This has been the third war in five years a Tory government under Stephen Crofts has lead this nation to war.
I ask the Tory government, how much longer must this go on, how much more blood has to be spilt? How many good men have to......"

"Sit down and cram it!" A Tory MP yelled, standing up.
"Let him speak!" A SL MP called back.
"Let him be hung!" an other MP called out!

"Order!" the Speaker thundered, returning silence to the room.

"How many more good men have to die for foreign lands?" Kennith Little, the Labour Party leader finished.
"This is the question I pose to Prime Minister Crofts and his Tory government."
The Left side of the aisle, the Labour and Social Liberal MPs, applauded in unison.

"What is the Labour solution then?" Crofts asked, rising from his seat.
"To stand back and not do anything as our allies are bullied by those powers who wish to destroy us? I didn't send Dysanii soldiers to Canada, Dysanii did. To accuse this government and previous Tory governments of aggressive military policy is laughable at best and...."
"War monger!" a SL MP yelled out, followed by a Labour MP calling for Crofts to go on trial for crimes against humanity.

"Is it now a crime to fight back when someone threatens you or your allies? Would you all rather we let the military grow obsolete, let our ships rust, our standing army size shrink? Leave us open to a Yankee invasion, or leave our allies on the continent alone in their struggles against American and Dysanii agression?"

"We want no war at all!" Charles Bolton, the Social Liberal interim leader responded.
"We want an end to the years of war and bloodshed on the continent, we want an end to aggression on all sides."

"I am in agreement with you there" Crofts responded, followed by calls of "Bullocks!" from the left side of the aisle.
"I'm being as open as possible when I say that" Crofts responded.
"I would like nothing better for the continent to fall into the slumber of peace, never to awake.
Yet that is not the reality of the matter. Like I said, I didn't send Dysanii soldiers into Canada. The blame for starting this war rests squarely on the shoulders of the Republic of Dysanii. If they had not invaded we would still be at peace. Furthermore had the Americans not invaded Canada that war would never had happened.
This Empire, nor the Greater Canadian Empire, have acted aggressively. Yet we will stand up and defend ourselves or our interests if threatened by those nations of belligerent character."

"And the Confederacy?" Little called out.
"They started the war that began this string of wars. Yet we supported them, under your government's influence."

"The existence of a southern Confederacy independent of the Democratic States benefited this Empire's national interests. We aided them in rebellion, and now they, like the Canadian Empire, stand by our side as allies. We will help defend them, just as we would Canada, and likewise I know they will help defend us, should our island Empire come under attack."

"Your governments have propagated an atmosphere of war that has consumed this nation, as well as the continent. You should be dragged out of office, to say the least" Bolton stated, standing up.

"This government" Erik Destler, a Beaconsfield MP, as well as Minister of FA, stated, "has done more to protect our national interests then the previous Labour government of the Rt. Hon. Kennith Little had done, more then it would have done had his party still been in power when these events began to unfold.
War, inevitable war, is the mark of a truly worthy government. When no other option is available, the competent government acts, the incompetent one debates endlessly."
With that Destler resumed his seat.

"I move" Patrick Griffin, a Tory PM stated, "that we pass a resolution reaffirming Inglo-Scotia's commitment to the current war effort."
After a period of intense shouting, the resolution came to a vote.
422 for, 226 against. The resolution passed.
