"I am sorry to interrupt your entertainment but I must speak to you about a matter of grave importance, It cannot have escaped your notice that there has recently in the world begun a period of violence and disquiet that threatens to engulf us all. To prevent war engulfing our fair land we must all pull together both to defend our homes and to root out those that would attack us. To this aim various measures are to come into effect today, first and most important of these is the enforcement of conscription to form a defensive force to protect our country and to free up professional soldiers for a strike back at those who would destroy us. For those of you who cannot aid your nation in combat can still make a difference, remember every able bodied who is freed from the task of maintaining our nation is another soldier in the fight for our survival.
