" Very well then. We shall sail upon the mainland on a fortnight. In the meantime, I shall have my master armorer craft you a new suit. I must say the Myrorian battle garb is not suited for the brutality of Ryazanian weapons. "

When the government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.

Tyrants from Hitler to Mao to Stalin have sought to disarm their own citizens, for the simple reason that unarmed people are easier to control.

"Very well. I will send my messenger to Hispania to call upon the legions."
"I assure you -- I will be quite content to be a mere mortal again, dedicated to my own amusements."

Fourteen days later

The Empeurer approached Balor.

"My legions are fed and ready for the sail to the mainland. Shall we leave now?"
"I assure you -- I will be quite content to be a mere mortal again, dedicated to my own amusements."

The King had his battle garb on. He had gilded metal plate on his chest, arms, and legs. He had a great antlered helmet, a symbol of House Greyjoy. For a cloak, he had a cloth-of-gold cape fastened with stag brooches. In his hands was a greatsword taller than him, intricate runes shimmering on the steel blade of Old Valyria. He looked around at his father-in-law.

" Sail and conquer we shall. Adorn your battle garb and meet me upon Balor's Fury, my four hundred oar war galley. We shall then sail down the Trident and begin the slaughter. "

Empeurer Claudius Augustus' armor.

The Empeurer clothed himself in his armor: A black and gold cuirass, platelegs, pauldrons, and gauntlet, and a golden Galea with a black plume. Leading his Praetorian Guard to the ship, he and his bodyguards climbed aboard the Balor's Fury.
