A Delayed Liberation
« on: January 20, 2008, 07:07:18 AM »

July 20, 5034 - 6:30 AM
Confederate Army Headquarters,
Ft. Ichimo, Yuro Province

"Hai, thank your sir. over and out sir" Chu Jo (Lieutenant General), now Tai Sho (Full General) Yamabushi said to the  Chairman as he hung up the phone in his office. Yamabushi had just been promoted to Tai Sho in order to take full command of Confederate and Clan Forces. This promotion was only given during war time, it meant that Joukai was fully mobilize to finally Liberate the Uichi Ryu islands, stolen by the Xyrael Emperor hundreds of years before (?). He had forced the people to convert to his religion and had earned the long standing animosity of the Joukai clans. Now that the Confederacy had stabilized the nation, they could now work towards a common goal to unite the clans, the idea of Mori Hedeaki. Now that the Confederacy had a common enemy, the clans would stop bickering and work together, the perfect target was the public enemy #1, the bastards who captured those islands and delivered an embarrassing defeat to the assembled armies. Now It was the Confederacy's turn to deal a crushing blow.

Yamabushi went to his staff room and ordered his generals to use cameras to attend the meeting that way or in his office. His his personal staff of senior officers and the generals on the line he gave the order "Commence Operation Island Liberation". All the generals nodded, it was time.

The first stage began, the Toukai and Onkei battle fleets and the patrol vessels sped out and began the amphibious assault with Marines and began to block the Islands off in an attempt to blockade the Islands. The Airforce used bombers to destroy any installations they could find around the coasts. They moved to Target area I, while the Mori Forces deployed to Target II.

------------------------------------

Tai (Captain) Hiro,
4th Fighter Squadron, Confederate Airforce
Enroute to Target I

"Alright boys, get ready for some real action. Bring honor to your families, their shall be no cowardice. Our orders are to protect 1st Bomber Squadron on their initial run. Hit them with the ferocity of a 1000 dragons. Let none in our protection fall prey to the enemy. Today we bring honor to the Confederacy, through blood and iron."

Hiro got off the radio and focused on the task at hand. They were only a few clicks away from their target area and the fighting was about to start.

-------------------------------------

Tai Sa (Colonel) Juro,
1st Marine Attack Group, Confederate Navy
Toukan Battle Fleet, Enroute to Target I

"Sho Sa Sato, I want your men the first to hit the beaches. Take those shores and establish a perimeter were we can land the armor and artillery. Our Navy can provide cover fire for you as long as you continue to relay coordinates of enemy positions. Do not fall back, continue to push forward at all costs. Your men are expendable. We are not expecting heavy resistance but keep your men on the offensive. You have one hour to do so, after that the perimeter needs to be secure. Make sure their are no enemy artillery positions to pound our headquarters as it is being established." Tai Sa Juro ordered his major in his staff meeting aboard the CS Yari.

The Colonel had been tasked with being the spear head in the southern assault on the target Island. The operation was designed to be fast so he was under a tight schedule, but with great resources at his disposal.

(Navy and Airforce deployed, 15 Mins till Airforce begins bombing runs and 30 mins before navy lands first waves of marines.)

The buzzing of the engines was hardly nullified by the airtight compartments of the E-2 Early Warning plane that slowly patrolled near Joukai's single land border with Xyrael. The shimmering blue water shone into the pilots eyes, forcing him to squint. He looked back into to the navigation men who seemed to scurry through the room in a frenzy. Raising his eyebrow, he watched as one of the crewmen began chattering into the microphone rapidly. A sense of panic began to fill within him, he could read the man's lips as he spoke.

He looked to his co-pilot, who returned the glance with a similar hint of fear, before looking forward. Neither man ever wanted to pilot the mission that would report incoming enemy to base, but it seemed now was that time.  The clamour of footsteps and pounding of a fist thrice against the cabin wall signalled the entrance of a navigator. Neither pilot looked in acknowledgement, their fingers wrapped tightly around the controls of the plane.

"Captain, we've reported contacts to base. There's too many, base wants us to linger for two minutes then return to Echo Charlie."

The pilot failed to nod, instead his eyes moved to the fuel gauge. He prayed two minutes would be long enough for command to tell his wife to leave base.

Taisho Sato Izumi quickly read the early reports of an unknown number of contacts approaching the Uichi Ryan Peninsula. The reports didn't bode well for the small colony. Why would the Joukai attack? This question, however, didn't matter. The attacks were imminent, and she needed to prepare. Her subordinates hurriedly relayed her orders to the commands. She had a mere twelve thousand soldiers to fend off against numbers which theoretically could outnumber her soldiers 20 to 1. She couldn't afford to not arms the supply units for front line combat, and she couldn't afford to spread her forces along the beaches.

She could guess that she had 20 minutes until the enemy was upon the shore, with enough support to quickly overwhelm any fortifications she had set up. SNLF Rapid Response units would be wasted holding the peninsula against such a sudden attack, there was only one tactical option left to her. Let her opponent take the land she chose to give them. She'd give them the non-urban beaches, the open plains, but save for herself the rest. 8,000 soldiers would be pressed into the only two major urban centers of the sparsely populated colony, while 4,000 soldiers would hold back the enemy push through the only land border the two nations shared in the east.

With her plan for slowing the enemies main push set, she contacted Atai Island's Nuclear Watch, informing the NW team to maintain an alert readiness, with no less then twenty MiG-31 Interceptors on standby to engage any unknown contacts between the island (see above map, zone III) and the mainland. 3 SNLF Regiments were ordered to prepare their defense of the missile base. The rest of the colonial forces were to be mobilized immediately. The Xyraeli forces quickly prepared for unwarranted attack and the AA Missiles defenses watched the skies vigilantly.

Troop Strength and Deployment:

(click to show/hide)

Taisho Yamabushi put down his phone, accessed through a secure line. The enemy had begun to take positions along the isthmus and their fighters had scrambled. They did have surprise, but this was an unwanted result. Reports were coming in from satellite that enemy defenders were pitiful in number, but retained the ability to entrench themselves very well. This was to be expected. For this task he had summoned the Confederate Rocket & Artillery Brigade. The firepower and range of their guns would rain hell on enemy positions, combined with the sheer size of the invasion force - the defenders were staging a futile defense. Likely they would attempt to stall  the invasion to begin evacuations, but Yamabushi would fix that. His navies had begun to encircle the islands and would soon possess the waves, his airforce would dominate the skies. He expected this to be over very soon.

He began relaying commands to his various attack groups, I, III, & IV. I was to proceed with the plan of strangling the southern part of the Island in a triple-flank. III would proceed to secure the Nuclear base. The invasion could not last long if that base was not secured and likely their would be heavy defense. He had committed the entire Mori Clan deployed armies to the task, convinced in the ability of Taisho Kurokawa. He expected to be in control of Area III within the hour. The Sanada Fleet had been committed to repulse the Navy surrounding area IV. The size of the fleet would likely destroy the enemy quickly. For now he could only watch the reports and wait.

The letter is passed around a few times in the executive's office before the entire room erupts in laughter and then decides to post the letter on the internet so that the country could enjoy it. After several minutes of laughing the letter is framed and normal governmental activities resume.

Area 1:

Advanced Stealth UAV's kissed the wind as they were guided skillfully out of earshot of ground infantry. They operated under the motto "You can't see what you don't know exists." and giving the enemy soldiers proof that such vehicles were spying on their movement would crush the only advantage the Xyraeli's maintained. The Joukai artillery pounded vacated bunkers and pillboxes, the soldiers evacuating to an underground catacomb that creeped underneath miles of land. Above these tunnels millions of mines lay buried, which was the primary reason that no railroads nor highways connected the two nations. The Xyraeli's tunnels lay fifteen to twenty feet under solid dirt, and had been contructed nearly a century earlier as the previous Emperor had suffered from excessive paranoia. Instead of letting the tunnels fall into disarray, however, they reinforced the tunnels with steel supports. The four thousand men spread throughout the intricate web of tunnels, poised to strike at the enemy as they carefully inched their way across the plains above them. It wouldn't be long until the enemy discovered the decoy fortifications and encountered the first mines.

Along the northern coast Xyraeli shells slammed into the beach as small three-man teams manned 81mm mortars from concealed positions within the forested area to the south. Joukai marines instantly became exposed to intermittent mortar fire, the first welcome wagon the Xyraeli's could offer. Though the casualties incurred were minimal, the Joukai were forced to be cautious as the approached the coastal city of Inna.

---------

Area 2:

Twelve thousand soldiers stationed within the Eastern region of Uichi Ryan  issued a proclamation declaring the Imperial government subordinate to the war-time authority of the Armed Forces, under the command of Taisho Sato. Her directive, as proclaimed by the Emperor, was to hold the colony or die in the process. Failure would ultimately result in her death, and she could not waste time with bureaucracy. The seat of her temporary martial rule lay at Kinjo, and the first order she made was to draft every man and woman capable of bearing arms between the age of 18 and 23 within the city. The rest of the XGSDF tore control of the colony from the hands of the appointed governor, and likewise began issues decrees that all capable residents were to report to their local prefecture and serve the Illuminate and his Divine Supremacy.

-------

Area 3:

Chegdu J-10's were quickly being refitted within secure hangars for a specifically anti-shipping role. The Confederacy may be able to gain supremacy of air here, but the Air Corps would be loathe to give them such a prize easily. Several dozen M1097 Avenger AA trucks patrolled dirt and makeshift roads that networked through the countryside along possible approaches to the Nuclear Watch base, while SNLF specialists made their preparations for a last man stand. Should the need arise, explosive charges to detonate the weapons were set, the men were under strict orders to not allow the weapons to fall into enemy hands.

What little fleet there was at the island had been crippled by enemy anti-air attacks, but within the hour the Joukai planes had come under increased fire from multiple Avenger Humvee's, and had taken enough casualties to deter further attacks. The Horizon-class Destroyer was one of the first to be declared unfit for further service, but had nonetheless recorded nearly seven kills before her men were forced to abandon ship. The Sachsen-class vessel remained unscathed, and together with the remaining patrol boats set out from the harbor to engage any minesweepers that aimed to ply the extensive minefield.

Taisho Sato's martial government issued to following ultimatum to the Joukai forces as they pressed their attack harder:
Quote from: Sato Izumi, Martial Commander of the Imperial Uichi Ryan Colony
Cease your hostilities against the Illuminate at once. Any Joukai citizen found unwarranted on Illuminate soil will be summarily prosecuted for treason by military tribunal, the punishment of which is death and for which there is no reprieve nor appeal. Furthermore, encroachment upon Illuminate Nuclear Watch will result in the activation of nuclear forces. We are not willing to allow our weapons to fall into the hands of an aggressor state, and SNLF troops have been issued orders to detonate the weapons should the situation be designated as critical. Whether this detonation will result in a nuclear catastrophe resulting in the utter inhospitability of the Atai Island or the consequential death of it's inhabitants is not the concern of the Illuminate, instead it is the concern of the aggressor state creating such a situation.

The Illuminate demands that Confederated Joukai soldiers withdraw at once, or suffer the wrath of the Emperor.

-----------

Area 4:

The Illuminate naval corps quickly readied and boarded their vessels, every last man called from his home to service. Orders from Taisho Sato were to deploy the navy one hundred miles to the south and await further orders, and have this order completed within the next two hours. Only two missile boats would remain as a last line of defense against troop landing ships. 960 SNLF troops organized the sectors defense forces, drawing on militia units and volunteers to create an additional 5,000 man volunteer force which would counter-attack Joukai marines should they land, as well as plant IED's along major thoroughfares leading to the city. The remaining professional soldiers and SNLF would hold the city of Tara. Martial law had imposed a curfew, and cars were turned over in the streets to act as temporary blockades, Avenger trucks placed atop parking structures to fire at enemy bombers, and active long range radar combined with multiple omnidirectional radar stations to detect the approach of stealth vehicles.

(Personal officer & troop rp to be done in spoilers so that the base movements are clear. Note the response letter from my General demanding the surrender of the Islands.)

Everywhere:

Broadcasts begin to play across the Islands as the Confederacy begins to interfere with the Island's communication networks. This done trough occupation of a coastal radio station.
Quote from: Broadcasts sent to the Islands
Great People of Uichi Ryu, you are the disinherited clan of Shimazu. You have been stripped of your identity, independence, and freedom by your imperialist Illuminate oppressors. They are filled you with lies and forced you to be loyal. The Confederacy offers you your own identity once again. We shall return the Clans of Shimazu to their former glory, we shall give you your freedom, and give you equal position within our confederacy. Rid yourselves of your colonizers. Rid yourselves of those who only seek to exploit you for money and power. Rid yourselves of the Illuminate. Take up arms against them. Drive them from your homes. Every man who brings the head of at least one illuminate soldier shall be given full citizenship for them self and their family and be exempt from the harsh occupational law soon to be imposed by the confederacy. For every second head and more, their will be a $300 reward.

Those who fight will be given power and status within the new Shimazu clan, as the confederacy seeks to establish the new noble families of the land. Take heed and do what is right, fight for your people. Fight for your blood brothers. We are not invaders, we are not oppressors... we are liberators.

As Confederate troops take ground, they set up new loud speakers to play the repeating broadcasts as opposed to the specific targeted ones. The repeating messages play -

Quote
Joukai National AnthemHail brothers, we are your saviors, come to liberate you from your oppressors. We are your people, we come to save you. Fight for your true cause, the cause of the confederacy and that of our emperor. We have come to save you. Kill your enemy and be rewarded with money and power. We bring about a new age, we shall restore the Shimazu clan!

etc. as the broadcaster propagandist says as he sees fit to try to pacify and turn the citizens to the side of Joukai

Area 1:

(click to show/hide)

(click to show/hide)

UAVs provided a great deal of information about the positions of the enemy behind the Isthmus with special emphasis on the location of their AA trucks. After the data had been analyzed and relayed back to the fleet, Naval bombardment ensued, matched by short range missiles fired from the Joukai mainland and Artillery that was landed on the Northern and Southern shores of Area 1, hitting several parking buildings, and truck positions, and mortar nests, significantly weakening the areas defense against Joukai Airforce (the mortars were hit first in order to land the artillery). They continued with their assault, matched by the UAVs. Any AA and mortar positions  100+ miles would be destroyed in the next 15 mins. Marines on both shores pushed deep into the territory once the mortar positions had been destroyed by the navy, overwhelming the outnumbered defenders with numbers and the armor they landed. The army sent mine sweepers out after a Humvee was destroyed and they found the Isthmus to be inaccessible. Artillery hit the mine field and advance forces slowly made it across with UGVs scouting out any remaining mines and detonating them. The rest of the invasion force was ferried across the small body of water on both sides of the Isthmus.

----------

Area 3:

(click to show/hide)

(click to show/hide)

The remaining enemy fleet arrayed against the Mori fleet was observed on their approach, their direction hinted at the weakness in the minefield but the underwater drones continued their work, the boats operating them protected by the larger ones. The enemy fleet was bombarded by the Mori fleet and largely crippled. Their pittance of a defense was crumbling under the sheer mass of Mori ships. Their sailors were well trained and had taken many Mori men to their watery graves, but the fleet commander had a task and he continued with it. The defenders were crippled by the new ferocity of the renewed Mori attack. The ships were slow to approach though, still fearing the protective minefield that still stood. Several drones were picked up by enemy radar and subsequently destroyed but their were enough left in the water to clear the way. The SF team was slowly approaching the nuclear facility with the intention of capturing it. ( I am not sure how many men you actually have in the facility, but these guys are a small force, and highly trained. They have the ability to infiltrate enemy facilities and take them out silently. Think British SAS or US Delta force.)

A letter was returned the to Illuminate High Command.
Quote from: Yamabushi Ieaysu, Commander-in-chief of Coalition Forces
Defense of these islands are futile, just as is was when your people captured it from mine many years ago. Surrender your positions now and the nuclear arsenal shall be returned to your government and you shall be allowed to join our ranks as governor of these islands for the cofederacy. Your forces cannot resist the combined power of the Confederacy and to do so is suicide for all your people. We do not fear collateral damage and are prepared to fire strategic missiles on your positions, likely eliminating thousands of civilians just for you to put up this hopeless fight. My soldiers will continue to bomb and destroy any target we deem necessary, even civilian ones, until complete and total victory or surrender are assured. If you and yours wish to live to see your mainland again I would advise you to take this short window of mercy I am willing to offer and leave.

You have 20 minutes to respond.

Area 4:

A similar strategy was taken here as elsewhere. The enemy navy would be overwhelmed, then marines would land and secure the beach while the naval guns shelled out any detected entrenched positions. The Confederacy was well prepared and each man knew his duty. It would not be long before the results of area 1 landing would be reciprocated here.

I'll follow your style of spoilers since we're dealing with 4 zones and it'd just be a wall of text  :o

Area 1 and 2, effectively the same:

(click to show/hide)

Along the border men slowly began to filter out of forward tunnel holes. Well camouflaged and organized using no radio signals, they used maps to track their slow but steady progress across the Joukai border. Though Ft. Tenke lay nearly 30 miles away, the soldiers kept a consistant pace. Their objective: to besiege and bombard Fort Tenke for no less than one hour from all directions, then retreat leaving all roads accessing the fort incapable of use. From there the sections would reform at the platoon level, and receive new orders. They'd be at their destination by by nightfall, and commence their bombardment at 11:12 pm.

All along the minefield soldiers sprung from hidden tunnels and struck surprise hit-and-run attacks on Joukai soldiers as they cautiously marched through the minefield. Never staying above ground long enough for the enemy to toss grenades into the tunnels, they constantly moved east, using C4 to collapse the tunnels to prevent them from being used by the Joukai.

Throughout the rest of Area 1, however, civilian centers had come under barrage by ordinance. Homes, factories, even a school of children were struck by inaccurate ship-board guns. The taking of heads of Illuminate soldiers was considered barbaric by the liberal-minded citizens of the Illuminate, who almost uniformly scoffed at the notion of cutting off a man's head. The notion that these people, who could not remember their family beyond their great grandparents, were the disenfranchised sons and daughters of Joukai was just as ludicrous. They had watched the news, read the reports of internal strife within Joukai, and they had reaped the benefits of free education and high living standards for being colonial citizens.

However, as Joukai soldiers pushed into the streets of the city, though numerically superior they fell to many traps and tricks created not only by the Self Defense Forces, but also by the citizens themselves. Parked cars had turned into makeshift bombs created from various supplies, men residing in apartments fired illegally owned weapons from their balconies (which had been distributed by the wartime government). Soldiers, native to the city, ducked into small alleys away from the tanks which struggled to compete for space within the narrow streets. Urban warfare was the specialty of the Xyraeli soldiers, who were provided much information regarding enemy movement by a toll-free hotline accessible to local residents. They used their homefield advantage and years of training as career soldiers to their advantage to turn the numerical superiority of the Joukai into easily assaultable target. Still, the Joukai presented an ever growing horde which grew harder to flank with every city block they took. The XGSDF was fighting a valiant but futile fight.

-------------

Area 3:

ooc: I have 3 SNLF Regiments stationed there (3,000 roughly) along with 2,000 regulars. SNLF are meant to be used almost exactly the same as Nazi stormtroopers, although these men are much better trained and equipped. They're equipped with FELIN combat systems, integrated FAMAS-FELIN guns, MINIMI lmg's. Their training reolves specifically around close quarters combat, although there is also an emphasis on marine landing/helicopter insertion. They're not going to be easy to dislodge by any means, I only have 20 SNLF Regiment available to me. 3 are here because it's the nuclear base specifically designed for striking Loyan (PI member). Though they're not as capable for defense as they are for assault, close quarters is close quarters. They're also trained to follow a code similar to bushido, and they will not surrender (they have a sword specifically to kill themselves and chop off their comrades head)

ic: Something seemed wrong, the Joukai weren't pushing as hard as the rest of the assaults. Though 6,000 soldiers defended the beaches, they were constantly shelled by Joukai ordinance. Though some soldiers were becoming psychologically unstable to the incessant fire, they would have brief respites as Joukai ships depleted their ammunition and resupplied. However these brief respites were merely lulls in bombardment, less trees splintering into the sides of the men.

The real concern for the defenders was the safety of the Nuclear Watch facility. Already steps were being taken to permanently disarm and destroy the RS-24 missiles in an effort to scuttle the technology so that they would not be replicated. In total, five thousand men were stationed in what seemed to be an underground fortress, a massive bunker designed to withstand heavy bombardment, with multiple ventillation units and an autonomous power supply, as well as an underground water tap. She was a standard missile base, by Xyraeli standards of paranoia and fortification. With little in the way of an above ground structure beyond an advanced communications array, the majority of the facility was underground. 500 SNLF patrolled the series of covered trenches which surrounded the 30 tubes, and 800 yards of mines with motion detecting sensors protected the perimeter of the base. Beside the SNLF, 1,200 soldiers warily manned the trenches. Within the bunker resided the teeth of the base. 30 missiles resided within silo's, connected to a underground base with a barracks capable of housing 1,800 men in peacetime. The base, however, though filled with over 3,000 men, was not crowded. It was a large, spread out base, with several pillboxes built into designated checkpoints near entrances to the silo's. It is within these pillboxes that the crazed fool mad enough to detonate the bombs held the trigger. Nuclear Watch operators were desperate to ensure the mad man would not have to do so.

Quote
This is 14th Nuclear Watch Station.

We will not surrender the rightful property of His Majesty, for it would tarnish the honor of the SNLF to do so. We are disarming several of our weapons, but should an effort be made to take the facility before our efforts are complete we will not hesitate to sacrifice ourselves for our Emperor, for His Divinity would love us more if we should do so.

However, SNLF Chusa Nomura maintains the highest rank within the Illuminate colony, and is willing to negotiate a cease-fire for the Illuminate. Beyond this, no concession will be made while a true citizen of the Illuminate mans this station.

------------

Area 4:

(click to show/hide)

What navy there had been at the island had left quickly, and unnoticed as well. Having set sail in a rather disgracing retreat, the Illuminate could not risk losing a carrier in a pitched battle against extreme odds. The remaining defenses of the colony were Chengdu J-10's specifically equipped to attack the encroaching fleet. Although losses to anti-air defense were high, the Chengdu's had disabled, damaged, or wrecked entirely multiple ships of varying sizes. The soldiers stationed at the island and the civilian conscripts patiently awaited the inevitable assault, a bristling array of machine guns aimed at the beaches.

Sectors 3 and 4 are currently negotiating a ceasefire with Joukai. Section 1 is suffering from large amounts of soldiers surrendering. Section 2, chiefly the Taisho Sato's government seat, remain staunchly opposed to Joukai forces.

Taisho Yamabushi has activated the rest of his forces for the final push. Moris  attacked the south with part of their army. Fresh Takeda and II. Corps hit the north. Sanada troops would attack from the east, while the first corps and attached marines attacked from the west. Go-hojo and Oda forces were aiding captured territories with occupation. Bombing runs were frequent as the Confederate commanders sought to spread unease through the insurgent ranks. Artillery pounded away as UAVs provided coordinates of any large grouping of enemies.

The Takeda and II Corps captured ground in the northern peninsula directly across from their positon while Sanada forces made large gains in the east. Casualties against insurgents were heavy along the border of Area II and I as the confederate forces made their final push.

Confederate armies swarmed the insurgent positions. Their forces on full retreat until finally they were holed up in a single city. The car bombs had delayed confederate advances for an hour, until troops finally parachuted into the city. Within 15 minutes, the paratroopers had secured several paths for the main army to follow, until the city was fully occupied. Insurgent forces attempted to surrender but were shot instantly. They were now terrorists. Finally the defenders were surrounded around their headquarters where Taisho Sato's own commanders handed her over to Confederate forces in exchange for their lives. Their punishment for resisting the invasion would be forced labor. They would work until the Islands were repaired and functioning fully once again. Collateral damage had been great, so these men would have a long time of hard labor.

Yamabushi was flown in by helicopter to the headquarters of Sato. The woman had been bound and gagged, her neck exposed by confederate troops pulling down on her hair. A camera was installed, so the execution could be broadcast all over the world. Yamabushi drew his sword as he neared the woman. When he was finally to the right of her, he raised his sword and in one fell swoop removed her head from her shoulders, no questions asked.

He later received a message from the Chairman to inform SNLF soldiers that their mainland was being attacked by Sel'Ia. He called the  commander on the phone to relay the news and to check in on the nuclear dis-armament.

Chusa Nomura answered the secure phone hesitantly, expecting more demands he didn't like. Instead, the Joukai informed him that the Taisho had been disposed of, and that his country was under attack.

"Do you know details?" Nomura inquired. There was a vague response, obviously not. "Well, then I'll inform you of our progress. We have disarmed all weapons of consequence, and salvaged the necessary parts. I respectfully request, as one man to another honourable man, do not re-arm this facility. We are prepared to leave, we will arrange for all citizens willing to depart to head for Lucca prior to the ceding of the province to the Confederacy. Taisa... I pray we will not have to meet again on the field of battle, for then the terms may not be so favourable for you." He hung the phone up softly before turning to his comrades.

"Our Emperor needs us," he frowned, "though no order has come through, we must pull back. Taisho Sato's failure as a citizen must not be perpetuated by the SNLF. We must save our fatherland."

ooc: I cede the islands to you, Joukai. To think a colony would fall so swiftly, heh.
I have become, again and again.

The SNLF forces were escorted to Hagajima (?), and once both forces were a safe distance away from the facility, it was destroyed by artillery fire as a sign of Yamabushi's commitment to the commander's request. Orderly evacuation of citizens wishing to leave commenced. Citizens were promoted to stay by offers of citizenship and monetary rewards for reparations. Still many did leave. At the port of Lucca where captured troops were being held, Yamabushi approached Chusa for the first time. "Commander, you fought valiantly today. I commend you and your men for that. The Confederacy will not forget the might of the SNLF. I just want for you to know, my people have no qualms against yours. We only wanted these Islands, and to bring our people together. The only way to accomplish both was to invade. I am sorry for this harsh reality and will work hard to see to your eventual release. Once my government has contacted yours and settled everything you and your men will be free to go."
