Another avatar for Soly?!?!?
« on: July 23, 2007, 09:51:29 PM »
OK, since Soly seems to change his avatar every week or so, here's another thread to discuss his new avatar.  Is this one good?  Was the old one better?  Does it matter, since this one can't last long?
"I believe every single person is extraordinary. The tragedy is that we
have a society where too many people never get to fulfill that
extraordinary potential. My view – the liberal view – is that
government’s job is to help them to do it. Not to tell people how to
live their lives. But to make their choices possible, to release their
potential, no matter who they are. The way to do that is to take power away from those who hoard it. To challenge vested interests. To break down privilege. To clear out the bottlenecks in our society that block opportunity and block progress. And so give everyone a chance to live the life they want." - Nick Clegg, Leader of the Liberal Democrats and Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

The current avatar isn't too bad, aside from the annoyingly ambigious gender. In fact, I'd say it's one of the best so far.

Exactly what I said about the gender, but it's better than the last one and, dare I say it, the dancing girl.

Yup, ever so slightly better than the dancing girl.

My favourite avatar is the one Soly had when I first joined the forum. I don't remember what it was, but it was all dark and imposing. Coupled with the Solnath name, it made him seem kinda sinister.

I think one of these avatar threads has a gallery of Soly's rejects. I'll have a look. Of course, my memory ain't what it used to be, so I may not be able to find the right one.

I think I remember seeing that somewhere, too.

Well, that is kind of sinister...

Ah, this one.

Not as good as I remember it, but it did give me the impression that Solnath was not a guy to be messed with.

I'm not seasoned enough to remember that one...it doesn't seem to fit Soly...Solnath, maybe, but not Soly.  Also, how do you make a link with just a regular word?  I always have the link be the entire URL.

Well, I'm not good at explaining things, but I'll give it a go.

Click the "Insert Hyperlink" button, and [ url=http:// should appear, without the spaces. Type in the link after the double forward-slashes, and end it with a square bracket (]). Then type in the word you want to turn into a link.

For example, my above post looked like:

[ url=http://forum.taijitu.org/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1799.0;attach=501;image]this

but with no spaces in.
