Who should the founders be? (nominations)
« on: June 06, 2011, 11:16:07 PM »
This first post shall be edited to keep track of nominations. Anyone with the ability to edit it should feel free to update it.

So far I count nominations for:

1. Sovereign Dixie (accepts)
2. Eluvatar (I accept)
3. Myroria (accepts)
4. Gulliver (accepts)
5. PoD Gunner
6. St Oz (I accept)
7. Limitless Events (accepts)

Who shall those Founders be?
It's weird. I've always seen myself as part of the founding of this region. I was one of the people kicked from the Lexicon by Insane Power, being one of the main people to call him out on his bullshit over there. I was one of the first of our core group to register here and move my nation to Taijitu, and I did what I could to help get this region off the ground, specifically in the RP department at first. I've served in various governmental positions, and last night I assisted with the re-founding. I've been in a few regions in NationStates, but I've always felt that Taijitu was my true NS home. Not just because I enjoy playing this game with the people here, but because I feel that part of me is wrapped up in the foundations of this region.
That being said, being part of the founding of the region doesn't make me a Founder, if that makes any sense. SD, Elu, Myro, Gulliver, PoD Gunner, and St. Oz are the ones who really did the heavy lifting to get this region off the ground when we were all expelled from the Lexicon. They should be the ones on the Founders Council/have access to the new Founder nation. In my opinion of course.

I accept my nomination likewise, and nominate Inglo-Scotia. I think he's done so much for our refounding that he definitely deserves to have a say.

I'll accept my nomination. But since I'm an ass I won't think to nominate anyone in return, since everyone I thought of has already been nominated.

Wasn't expecting that :D Honestly, my nomination post was written to express gratitude and nothing more. I appreciate the sentiment though.
Whether or not I accept, I'll have to give it a night's worth of thought.

I accept my nomination and would like to point out that I will mainly be around to watch over things and won't be going around getting involved the region's politics.
Make sense? What fun is there in making sense?

That's the point of a founder, ain't it?

Mainly yes, but I'm just pointing out that unlike everyone else on the list I won't be involved in the region outside of the founder duties and any admin issues that I can fix when Elu is unavailable.

While I am honoured that someone I consider to be a key Founder would nominate me to that same group, I respectfully decline the nomination. I know I've done a lot for this region, and I hope to do more. I just don't see myself as having contributed to the founding of this region in the same way the other nominees have.
Thank you for your consideration, but I decline.

I nominate G-C, because he helped with the refounding

Since SD accepted, that's five accepted nominations, and the poll for how many Founders there should be is trending towards five.  That alone is a reason for me not to accpet, since this should be a fairly quick and painless process.  But I-S' reasons are compelling as well, even more so in my case.  I was not among the people kicked out of the Lexicon in 2007, instead migrating over a week or so later.  I was not a founder the first time 'round, and was not as much a founder as others were this time 'round (for instance, I pulled out of the thread in NOFORN when it began to turn ugly, rather than sticking it out).  And I've already got the new responsibilities of Speaker: while SD for instance has been a Delegate and a Founder before, and at the same time no less, I'm used to being a Senator or Justice, one position at a time.  There's not even something as petty as party affiliation to consider, judging by the accepted nominations.

Thank you, but I decline.

I would suggest secret ballot for this.

I have set up a condorcet ballot over at a website (not run by me), that would use all our emails for authentication. All citizens* should have gotten an email with their secret voting link.

*St Oz needs to confirm that his citizen and WA nation is St Oz.

I wouldn't trust those scumbags over at Cornell, they'll rig the vote and sell us all out!
