Here are my reasons:
I only read the RP boards, and stay out of the rest of Taijitu politics (which gives objectivity) and a lot of OOC chatter in general.
I never played in the Lexicon, and thus don't have the history with people that that entails.
I've invested a lot into the RP world; notably expansion and economic RPs, the Decartes Stock Exchange, and shops.
I RP a conservative foreign policy, which was the reason I chose my island chain in the first place.
And I like to think that I have a unique way of RP'ing that emphasizes/mix storyline and expansion
...
As a moderator, I believe in the Lockian ideal that if you invest work into something, then its yours. So if you invest time/storyline into an RP expanding over an area, you should get it. And I'd prefer to see things resolved diplomatically, rather than by all-out/MAD war.
As far as real life political/economic views. Basically my biggest real life political/philosophical/thinker influences are John Locke, Edmund Burke, Adam Smith (and I realize the inherent contradiction in playing a nation called Mercantilist States
), James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and Woodrow Wilson; though I have a bit of a Keynesian streak too. I'm a true "
liberal" in the sense of the word in that I believe in the right to life, free speech, equal rights for all, and the free market. Though break with libertarians in the belief in the right to unions and the right to education.
You can read my posts of G-C's Second Revolution debate thread to get an idea of how I think, and read my RPs. Also, I RP another nation on another forum (though, since I found this region spend most of my time here) which I wrote a pretty detailed Wiki for,
South Nashville, which has a lot of my world view sewn into it.
