I offer you all warm greetings from the Imperial Republic of Nevermoore. I’ve come here because your RP section seems to be awesome and I’d like to have a go at world domin… I mean, building cooperation across the region. Allow me to give you a brief description of what the IRN is all about right now.
Nevermoore is a parliamentary republic in theory. Realistically, the National Front political party has established a one-party state. They are an incredibly egotistical, idealistic bunch and are lead by the dynamic Chancellor Sophia Ashford. Chancellor Ashford views the citizenry of Nevermoore as children that cannot make proper decisions on their own, so she decides for them. She views herself not as a tyrant, but as a matron. There was an Imperial Family once, but they are presently either dead or exiled.
Under Ashford’s party, Nevermoore has been transformed into a police/welfare state for the security and benefit of the “people.” There are no public spaces that are not monitored by the police, who are controlled by the central government and have numerous paramilitary divisions. Utilities, healthcare, education, and the media have all been nationalized. It should be noted that these services are very well-funded and extremely cheap. However, there is a private sector for most everything else. All land is owned by the State and must be leased from the State for private use. The State also operates huge public housing facilities, shelters, soup kitchens, and clothing programs to ensure that every single citizen has the basic necessities to live.
The people of Nevermoore have been swept up in an ultra-nationalist fervor propagated by the State. They are predominantly an Anglo-Saxon nation, but have a significant Celtic population as well. Immigration has largely been discouraged although the are some pockets of “outlanders” residing in major cities. Religion is also highly persecuted within Nevermoore with only the crippled Church of Nevermoore still having any large following.
Well, without going on to write a book, this is pretty much it. Please note that Nevermoore’s views do not reflect my own. =P I look forward to my time here.
