TSP Update
« on: July 28, 2011, 06:56:34 AM »
Yep, our foreign affairs team had no idea an embassy here was ever opened. I told the Minister of FA and his deputy, they said they'd be over here shortly.

But I'm here nao.

Well to clear up the last couple months in a nutshell:

There was a coup by Sedge toward the end of SB's delegacy, Sedge endorsed and sent a telegram to every WA member in the region, claiming to only be endorsing as a sign of friendship and wanted the same friendship back. He gained enough endorsements to pass SB through that story. Sedge was delegate for two days ejected natives and suppressed RMB posts by every TSP native in attempt to quash opposition. Several telegram campaigns were eventually successful and SB took the delegacy back. Punk D of The West Pacific declared "war" on us without breaking embassies because we were inactive, and that war continues till this day because we are supposed to be in peace talks on IRC (his idea) but he won't actually make time to log into IRC.

A week or so after the coup was over I declared my candidacy for delegate and started endorsement swapping (that's how TSP elections worked). Californiaaaaaa, a long time native also declared his/her candidacy and was competing for the delegate position. Just before the last update I had one more endorsement than Cali but Cali pulled his/her endorsement of me (and I was still endorsing him/her) which brought us with a tie at the update. The game made me delegate even though we were tied and so the election ended.

After the election I requested Cali to reduce his/her endorsements down to the cap (legally I was allowed to eject him/her but did not assuming he/she would reduce endorsements down to the cap *mistake*). A couple weeks into my delegacy mysterious puppets showed up claiming SB had chosen me to be her replacement and the whole election was rigged, there were phony screenshots of our forums as evidence. The culprit sent telegram after telegram to the WAs of the region requesting Cali be made delegate and pointing to that "evidence". As my endorsements dropped and neared Cali's I sent another request to Cali to reduce her endorsements. Cali responded with some gibberish about "working together" and me not needing to worry. Cali did nothing and within a couple hours it was clear I would soon drop below his/her levels which were double what the legal cap allowed him/her to have. I sent Cali a telegram requesting that he/she leave the region or resign from the WA or I would eject her for an update. Unfortunately Cali randomly did not log in for 36 hours, and nearing a mid update with tied endorsements I ejected and banned her. Cali logged in within a couple minutes of being ejected after 36 hours of inactivity and tried to have the ban reversed by declaring her candidacy for delegate, again. I refused to remove the ban, because TSP law required a nation to have a certain number of endorsements to run for delegate, and because Cali conveniently waited till after he/she was banned, was no longer eligible to run.

After Cali's banning the puppets that had spread the faked "evidence" all stopped posting immediately except one. And that one has been much less active.

Outside of struggles for the delegacy, our assembly amended the way people gain the delegacy (and endorsement caps). The old system was an election happened everytime someone with 50% the delegates endorsements declared his or her candidacy and it was purely on-site. If the challenger endoswapped the delegacy within 14 days that was the new delegate, if not the incumbent stayed. The complaints with that system was that: 1) If sedge had made one post on the forums he would have been our legal and legitimate delegate through lies. 2) In the 18 months SB was delegate, only one person ever challenged her, and that person dropped it shortly after raising the challenge.

The new system requires delegate elections every six months. The first round (like a primary) occurs on the forums, each citizen votes for a candidate and the top two move on to the final election, which is the traditional endoswap-off. Also the delegate must be reaffirmed at the three month mark between elections, if more citizens vote to reaffirm him than not he continues his term. If he doesn't get a majority there will be an election under the new system to find a replacement for him.

So... There's a rundown of the last two months in TSP politics, consider this a mega-update! :P

Also I do apologize we lost track of your embassy! We meant no disrespect! If you have any questions about TSP just ask!

Thanks for the update.
