Wait, let me guess, there's nothing out there but water, right?

Well... It would make more sense that there are no land masses out there. Why couldn't a ship sail out that way before now? The way I see it, they best you could hope for are just a few islands here and there that were missed.

So if you're going to think of a reason why satellites can't see it, you also need to think of a reason why people haven't sailed out there and found something already.

We didn't think that there was a landmass between Asia and Europe until 1492, so we don't know what's out there. Oz, do we RP our own new findings or have you placed them already? And to tell you why I will begin to "colonize". I will colonize because the two wars I have fought will leave a dent in my industrial and agricultural industries, thus affecting trade around the world and creating problems in my nation. This isn't going to be a mad race to see who claims the most territory, I mean someone else may do that. But I am restricting myself to just to creating a mercantilism market within my "colonial" empire that soon makes my nation richer, as well as bringing it out of depression. But it will also make the "colonies" or dominions as I'll call them because I will allow self-rule, rich as well. It is basiclly a EU-type market. There will be no large-scale settling unless I find a few islands near the South Pole that are hospitable. I will instead place scientific bases and a small paramilitary force on them to not only protect but also to be a first stone on my goal of exploring the South Pole. So I will buid an overseas empire that benefits itself by making and manufacturing it's products and selling back to itself and also for scientific goals.

Um, yes, but this is a modern rp. Back then, they didn't know anything was out there because of the inability for their ships to travel the open ocean compounded with myths and legends of those who tried and were eaten by monsters.

By this point in the history of Taijiitu, we should have already been out there and know if there are any land masses. That is of course unless there's something that prevents ships from sailing that far, like how there's this magical cloud of gas that prevents satellites from being able to see the planet's surface.

Isn't there some ludicrously difficult to traverse barrier of constant storms and what-not at the edges of Taijitu, sort of like we're in the disproportionately large eye of a constant storm, sort of like the one on Jupiter?

In that case, if the rest of the planet is covered by this constant violent storm, why on Earth would you want to colonize there?  Who would want to move there?  How would your military maintain morale there?

No, the whole planet isn't a storm, just a ring around Taijitu.

Wouldn't it be weird if we got out there and it turns out that the civilizations on the other side are actually way more advanced than us?  I would laugh so hard.

Then why can't satellites see it?

Hell, most satellites don't have cameras on them, using those is cheating ^_^ and WILL result in rest of the world water ^_^... (thus a lot of storms coming from it ^_^)

Me and Terranger are proposing the idea of a fictional sub-atomic particle isolated in one part of the atmosphere that disrupts electromagnetic waves, like visible light and radar.

How about after we penetrate it the storm system around Taijitu magically disappears because of the Taijitians collective prayers to the Patron Saint of RP?
