Mercantilist States Department of Commerce

The Department of Commerce is pleased to announce the opening of the territorial waters of the Mercantilist States to trade. Merchant ships will be allowed to pass freely through our waters, but no warships will be allowed without express permission from the President of the Mercantilist States. Additionally, any merchant ships carrying arms or military equipment through our waters must declare their cargo before entering our waters, and foreign ships will be subjected to random searches by the Mercantilist States Navy.

From time to time, the Department of Commerce also makes available for purchase individual uninhabited islands under our control. These islands have Dominion Status and are ideal for corporations, aspiring monarchs, or citizens fleeing opression; however sovereign nations may not purchase an island as an extension of their territory. All residents and corporations of the islands will be subjected to our national tax rate (generally around 10%), but exempt from state taxes. Requests are considered on a case-by-case basis and ALL SALES ARE FINAL. If you violate the rules of Dominion Status and are expelled from your island, you will not be entitled to a refund. All payments are to be made in tallents.

Requests and inquiries can be directed to me.

Alexander Wallis
Secretary of Commerce

Dominion Status

Dominion status designates that the territory is under the protection of the Merchant Defense Force and uses the Mercantilist States national currency, the tallent. Dominion protectorates are free to operate independently and fly their own flag, but must respect basic standards of humanity and the right to life. Additionally, if the territory under Dominion status is in sovereign Mercantilist States water, it is prohibited from having a military force and from manufacturing arms or military equipment of any kind, no exceptions.

Corporate Status

Corporations granted corporate status have exclusive distribution rights of certain products in the Mercantilist States. The Department of Commerce is not currently granting Corporate status to non-Mercantilian corporations.

I look forward to hearing from you.  Good day.

Greetings Mr. Lengta!

We welcome the inquiry into the purchase of our islands and the interest of the Mor'os Holding Company in the Tallent Archipelago. However, before the sale can be completed we must first ask the intended purpose of the islands. This is for both our own record keeping and to ensure that the rules of 'Dominion' status are not being violated. We must ensure this ahead of time as once the sale has been completed we will grant your company general autonomy over the islands. We await your reply.

Sincerely,

Alexander Wallis

Honored Secretary of Commerce Alexander Wallace

The reasons that his Divinity, Son of Heaven Osmar Anson Dalēn has given for the desired purchase of these islands are as follows.

His Divinity wishes to gather from the islands what resources and goods they might offer, and in doing so strengthen the Empire.

His Divinity wishes save port for the merchants of the Empire.

His Divinity wishes, with the permission of the Mercantilist States, that the islands be used to better prepare the forces of the Navy so that the Empire might be strengthened.

His Divinity wishes, with the permission of the Mercantilist States, that in times of dire conflict and war for the Empire that the Navy might garrison and fight from the islands and protect the Empire.

Consider our humble request.

Mr. Lengta,

Thank you for your request. We will sell you the islands for the purposes of extracting resources and establishing trading ports. All merchant ships are allowed to pass freely through our waters. However, we must inform you that we can not allow the islands to be used for military purposes and that foreign warships will not be allowed in our waters. We have had to turn away other interested parties for the said reasons.

Additionally, the Mercantilist States charges no import duties or tariffs of any kind, but the Mor'os Holding Company and any residents/settlers of the islands will be subjected to our national tax rate (generally around 10%).

We hope this does not cause any inconvenience. We shall release the islands to you on receipt of your payment and your merchants can begin the journey to the Mercantilist States.

Sincerely,

Alexander Wallis
