The Lord Marshal watched the new ships arriving in the sector, receiving the transmission to withdraw. That handful of ships is asking ours to move? Naer'ul almost chuckled, but he knew there had to be a good reason. "Recall the drones, have Squadron 3 power some of their weaponry and screen the Latagon vessel. All other vessels keep weapons targeted on the Aræn, but keep distance from the Latagonians. Should they require our support, be ready to provide it."

"My liege, Squadron 19 has relayed us coordinates to a nearby star," the Ensign reported.

"Have our reserves meet with them, inform them that we have met additional contacts and are not leaving yet. Relay the coordinates on a short range tachband to the Latagonian vessel in case we're forced to withdraw."

Amelia personally opened a transmission and pleaded, 'I can't pull away from the planet. You must understand that the laws of my home world dictate I cannot abandon my position until I have received confirmation to do so by the Aræn Navy.' She glanced at a data panel beside her but no incoming transmissions from Fleet had been intercepted. 'Please, disperse your vessels. Destroying this vessel would bring both your races into a conflict with my people. A conflict which, in your present situation, you could never hope of winning. These coordinates have been already transmitted. The Imperium would not have any qualms with attacking your ships...whether carrying civilians or not.' She nervously looked at the panel again in anticipation of further orders.

"You have been warned once, and will not be warned again.  Leave this planet or you will find your ship totally destroyed."  Hayes said, before looking to his AI, Mara.  "The honest to god truth", he thought to himself,"is that we have no idea whether the little doctor will work or not."
Mara spoke, "Captain, The Molecular Disruption Device is operational.  I think this would be a prudent time to use it, unfortunately, we do not know whether or not it will damage the planet as well."
"We can't risk hitting the planet...Comm open a channel to the fleet.  Bring all MACs to bare."
"Aye sir."
28 Magnetic Accelerator Cannons leveled on the Aræn, ready to fire their 600-3000 ton (Depending on the size of the ship) ferric-tungsten rounds at the Aræns, and knock them out of range of the planet.  If any of the 3000 ton rounds hit, it would not only knock the ship out of the way, but most likely obliterate the ship entirely.
"I say again, Alien captain, leave this planet or be destroyed."

Lord Marshal watched as the new fleet powered their weapons, targeting the Aræn vessel. He didn't want anyone to die, he didn't want the Elysians to be recorded as present at any altercations between two other peoples. His duty was to his people, and his people came first. He had to try to resolve this conflict, if only for the fact he could not risk sending his people to war.

"Ensign, open communications with the Aræn craft," Naer'ul was growing tired. This was wasting his time, he could have scanned several sectors and begun construction of agri-factories. He nodded as the Ensign signaled him that he was broadcasting. "I propose a compromise. Aræn vessel, inform your superiors you are commencing dialogue with our fleets. Latagonian fleet, keep your weapons at standby and await their orders. Aræi, you need to inform your superiors that this world is already claimed, and that it is of no use to your empire. Be warned, should you commence military actions with the Latagonian fleet we will not become involved, but should you endanger Latagonian civilians we will fire upon you without hesitation."

"Thank you commander."  Admiral Hayes said as he waited, intent upon defending this colony.  Too many lives had already been lost because he couldn't defend them.  This time it would be different.

Amelia raised her eyebrows and placed a slender finger on a switch to the right. Soren appeared on a pillar at the center of the bridge. 'What do you require, ladyship.'

'Mark these coordinates as a hot zone.' She took a quick glance out of the forward screen onto the Latagonian ships. 'Then take us to back to Aræi. I'm sure my father will want to hear of this.' As the ships jumped to light speed, she knew she would meet these aliens again. The Imperium would not let this rest, she was certain, and as it had done countless times before, would leave death and war in its wake.

A great yell erupted from the bridge crew, as the aliens left.  For once the Latagonians had defended their colonies, something that they hadn't been able to do since the Caldarian Wars.  People rejoiced, and morale got a much needed boost.  The Latagonians had seen over 28 systems systematically defeated, and then glassed.  For once a planet had survived, and without so much as one MAC round being fired.  Troy had been defended, and soon would have a working Ansible, which would allow it to communicate with other planets instantaneously.  The men had something to defend, for the first time in months, they had hope.

Naer'ul failed to smile as he watched the vessel withdraw. "Ensign, status of Squadron 19?"

The Ensign faltered as he realized he had been given an order. A minute later he looked to the Lord Marshal. "My liege, Fleet Admiral Phalek has found two worlds which will provide us with food. He's already begun assigning civilians to the worlds."

Naer'ul did not smile, wondering whether he should be upset by the Fleet Marshal taking command. Hopefully he found an isolated system. "Congratulate the Admiral on his find, and thank him for taking initiative. Furthermore, relay this order: The Lord Marshal requests that stellar stations capable of combat and resupply be constructed throughout the system, and that in addition to an agri-world the State may soon find herself in need of a garrison world."

The transmission was sent, and Naer'ul looked to the ensign again. "Hail the Latagonians. Inform them that we have found a temporary place to stay, and ask them if they'd like to discuss anything with us."

"Captain, incoming hail."
"Put it through."
The room filled with a voice, from the Elysians.
"Latagonians, we have found ourselves a temporary world.  We would be pleased if you would send a diplomatic party to discuss any other treaties and such."
Admiral Hayes nodded to his vice-admiral, and the vice-admiral left the room followed by the diplomatic staff.  A new transmission came into the room.  "To any Latagonian fleet!  This is Battle Group Alpha Bravo Tango."
"Alpha Bravo Tango..." Hayes said to himself.  "Those are pre-Scouring designations."
The transmission continued.  "To any and all Latagonian ships in the area.  We are under attack!  We need immediate aid.  Repeat.  We are under attack."  An explosion was heard, and then yelling.
Hayes motioned to the Private manning comm.  "Battle group Alpha Bravo Tango.  Who is attacking you?"
...A pause, and then a crackle.  "Captain Hayes, is...is that you?"  The man said while breathing heavily.
"Yes it is, now, please answer my question."
"Captain.  It's...it's them.  Two of their vessels followed us from Illusion.  The planet was obliterated.  We disabled one, but the other decimated half the battle group.  We've been running for the past four weeks, but they finally found us.  Four of their ships have jumped all over us, and are hitting us with everything they've got."
"Alright.  We'll come to your aid immediately."  He looked to his Engineer.  "To all Latagonian ships orbiting Troy.  The Marathon, Republic, and Trieme are going to the aid of a Latagonian battle group that is under attack.  All other ships need to hold orbit over Troy, and ready their Molecular Disruption Devices, in case we cannot defeat the Enemy.  Hale Protocol is in effect, so if you are on the verge of getting defeated you must do a random jump, so as to not lead them to New Latagon."

The Fleet acknowledged and the three Cruisers left to defend their battle group.

The cruisers came out of slipspace with the battle in full swing.  40 Latagonian cruisers, 28 frigates, and 10 Destroyers were firing their MACs.  On the other side a force of ships, not...their's...but a strain of them.  They looked like the reptilian "Concordat".  Hayes noted 37 in all.  They returned fire with their plasma based weaponry, and for a few minutes it looked like a colonial battle, with settlers standing in lines, firing at each other with muskets.  It was almost beautiful, as the blueish plasma, and streaks of MAC rounds danced across space.  Then, in a sudden, the beauty was devastation.  The MAC rounds impacted first, and 23 of the "concordat" ships went spinning, a few sputtered and went black, but the majority returned to their original positions.  Those that had been hit by the Cruisers looked worse off then the rest, but not even a Cruiser's MAC round could break the shields of these ships alone.  Then the plasma arrived at it's deadly destination.  The ships it impacted with didn't go spinning, like with the MAC rounds rather, they glowed white hot, and then, as the heat died, gaping holes could be seen in their hulls.  Most ships like that just died, but the cruisers survived.  Marathon class cruisers could survive three hits from those plasma bolts.  The Halcyon class cruisers could survive more than 20.  Halcyon class cruisers, while older, had an inner-hull honey combed with pockets, and titanium battle plating.  They could loose more than 90% of their outer hull before loosing structural integrity.

Finally Hayes looked up.  "Deploy the device."  He said.  For the first time in years a victory would be achieved, not because of sheer numbers, but because Latagon finally had a weapon.

The two cruisers carrying the weapon opened their MAC turrets, but instead of a huge metal slug coming out, a beam of light raced towards the "Concordat" ships.  This beam, though, was not blue like the Plasma, but white.  When it impacted the ships exploded and small beams of light raced towards the other and they too exploded turning into the white lights.  The "Concordat" fleet was decimated with two well placed beams of light.  The Molecular Disruption device was a success.  Dr Device would soon be a part of every ship's arsenal.  To be used as a ship's "sharpshooter".  A sniper shot, that could decimate a whole fleet if they were packed tightly enough together.  The beams of light would dissipate after a while of mot touching any other molecules.  The vacuum of space served to stop the destructiveness of the device before it got out of hand.  This weapon could not ever be used in the presence of a planet.  If even one beam reached the surface of the planet, the planet would be destroyed, so powerful was this weapon.

"Alright Captain, we're coming out of slipspace.  This is an uncharted region of space."

"Good, lets see if there's anyone home.  Open hailing frequencies."

"Open Sir."

"To all ships in this sector, we come in peace.  We are explorers.  If there is anyone out there we would be happy to open relations."

"Sir, there's something coming in.  Someone calling themselves the...Fenexians?"

"Unknown vessel, here is the CS Lythena." a male voice came trough the communication channel. "You entered Feniexian territory. Identify yourself. This system is restricted area class 0A. We hope you have good reasons to enter this area..." then it stopped. "Unknown vessel, your ship class is neither in our database nor does it contain parts standardized after the IMG. Who are you?"

OOC: Sorry that it took so long.

"CS Lythena.  I am Captain Waybright of the Latagonian Frigate 'Tulores'.  We didn't know this was a restricted area, and will leave if necessary.  We were in this area looking for a suitable planet to colonize.  We have no records of the Feniexian space nation.  Would you care to escort us to a non-restricted area, where we may conduct diplomatic talks between our two nations?"

The man switched the communications channel to receive-only. Then he turned around, to the commander, who was standing right behind him. "Commander. They seem to be a yet unidentified race or nation."

One officer stand up from his console next to the scanners, and came near to the Commander and the communication officer. "At least, they seem to be humanoids, Commander. Do you think they have anything to do with the...artefacts we found here?"

The Commander shook his head. "Let me talk to them."

The communications officer gave the Commander his headset.

"Captain Waybright, here speaks Sector Commander and Feniexian High General Sakai Kanaye. Please stay exactly were you are. Do not move further near us. This is not meant offensive in any ways, but you can surely understand that the order, directly from the Emperor, forbids us to let anyone without at least level C42/2A security clearance obtain informations about this project. I will send vessels to guide you to this system's portal; we will direct you over two systems and then to one of our military stations were your ships are well protected until the preparations were made to open up a connection with the High Council. I hope this is acceptable to you?"

The crew looks around.  "Millitary outpost...Would they attack us?"  A few members of the crew whisper.  Finally Captain Waybright speaks again.  "That is acceptable.  We'll stay right here until you send someone."
