Grand Navy of Taijitu
« on: August 29, 2014, 04:36:21 AM »
I feel that in order to preserve the revolutionary cause across the world, Taijitu should have a standing Navy.

What are the benefits to this?

  • It makes us a global player. If the Navy is big enough, it makes other regions rely on us for substantive stuff. GASP Taijitu will be relevant again?!
  • It helps us defend other regions from arseholes that feel it's cool to wave around a big dick and try to "show off their power" by invading innocent inactive regions and RP regions (Hey, don't both of those kind of define us?).
  • Help out our friends in region like Lazarus, The Rejected Realms, and the UDL. We have close ties with them for the past 4 years.
  • Dude, it's a NAVY.

I hope the Citizen-Electors will please consider this.

1 - I'm not sure that's the type of gaming taijis do, who would be exactly participating? Relevant? We can be dead and we're relevant.
2 - That's a nice reason, the only reason imo anybody could sign up, but we're not very militaristic, an organized militia would be more accurate.
3 - You mean help Lazarus? This whole thing sounds like private interest.
4 - You can sail the 7 seas (linky)

1. I think you know what I meant.
2. That has no bearing on the actual point of the post, really. Taijitu has always had armed forces of some kind (when one was allowed to exist because people were actually active)
3. I can't believe you would suggest it was private interest. Lazarus is a region that has closer relations to us than most. I was never going to send Taijitu into the war between Lazarus and Osiris if I was allowed to create this navy, because I think Taijitu would be better off as a neutral party in this. We're not ready, nor should we really be involved with an interregional conflict right now.

I'm displeased you didn't comment on my 4th argument.

I think Delfos's 4th point is a very good one actually. "In the navy, come protect the mother land. In the navy, come on and join your fellow man."

Typed this on my phone so forgive the brevity.

I don't think that Funk is acting out of self-interest, but part of me doubts that we are active enough right now to support an official military force. That being said - if the Ecclesia elects Funk to lead a citizens militia, I would gladly support such a venture. However,  I think any decisions regarding what military actions to take should be made by the citizens of the Ecclesia alone. The citizen-sergeant of the militia should only serve in a leadership capacity in the militia, and as a military advisor to the Ecclesia.

no it won't, we've tried, it won't.

Nobody defends anymore given recent events, so no again.

They don't care about us, no.

It's not us on a ship made out of steel bombarding and blowing shit up and making minorities peel potatoes.

It's a bunch of people responding to no-life wannabes arguing and preaching absolutely nothing.

So no again.

I would be willing to acquiesce the point that the direction of a military organization should be determined by the Ecclesia, while a Citizen-General (Sounds a lot better imo :P) would also be selected by the Ecclesia.

I brought this in a defender point of view simply because in the past Taijitu has been very hard to the left in that respect.

I think that we could have the trappings of a military. Even with just a few updaters, we could help to make a difference, and could attract people with a standing militia and end up growing it.

I am in favour of having this, ofcourse. On a voluntary basis. Once the new Del takes offer I will offer my services for the cause.

Still on my phone, sorry. I would be happy to see this put to a vote but unfortunately I must oppose a standing army at this time.

It's with this swag I propose joining our anarchic glorious revolution with other puny communist ones in an international army of revolutionist intent. La Internationale.

tbh this would be the only way we would intervene "militarily" anyway, gives good chances to RP crap and whatnot. thoughts?
