Appointment of Citizen-Mediator: The General of the North
« on: March 02, 2015, 08:07:04 AM »
Hey guys so it seems The General of the North had his previous account banned or some such (was going to link to the discussion but the relevant info was removed). I believe this the perfect time to appoint a Citizen-Mediator. I would go further and demand this Mediator be none other then Delfos. Why him you may ask? The man can defend the indefensible and is lion hearted when justice is on the line. What say you my fellow Taijis?

Don't be silly.
This is a technical issue that I would never be equipped to handle and who may it concern doesn't need a Mediator to fix. So why him you may ask, to "defend the indefensible"? I'm disgusted by this affirmation with special regard for being you saying it more than on this occasion. It only shows you're in favor of trumped up charges, testimonies more fit for a mock trial, life sentences and that you're not above trolling me.

In case this citizen clearly asks for help against what he may think is an injustice I'll be more than willing to try to reach an agreement between him and those responsible. Mind the Mediator is not a defense attorney, or at least it wasn't designed for such.

I say I have no idea what's going on. Can someone explain this?

Oh. Unless someone deliberately deleted his account, I don't think we need a Mediator...  :anguish:

It would seem that someone logged into the founder nation, suppressed a post on the RMB, and ejected this nation from Taijitu.

Appointing a Citizen-Mediator seems quite appropriate.

I'm going to own up to this strange occurrence. I made a mistake last night by banning and deleting someone I thought was harming Taijitu.

I made a mistake, and the ban/deletion is being fixed/altered.

Sorry for the confusion, and this won't happen again.

For the sake of clarity, I'm doing the restoration of the account, and the way we're making sure this doesn't happen again is by coming up with some procedures. Oz acted precipitously, which is on him, but we didn't have any procedures outlining how one should, which I guess is on me :$ This will be fixed.

I'm sorry but I have to critic the whole thing. I wish I had harsher words for Oz but as usual there are no rules against this kind of actions, you are free to go.

If you want Ecclesia to legislate such procedures and admins are accountable through Ecclesia, seems like awesome progress to me, almost too good to be true. If by Ecclesia, it won't make sense if there is no trial or any sort of judiciary decision, otherwise the usual "regional security" is unaccountable, ever. I don't think you want this option but it never hurts to ask.

There is also the option we contribute OOC and admins are separate from government as it has always been, accountable amongst admins only maybe. The rest of us plebe are kept in the dark.

Other options that don't include a democratic or semi-democratic solution for procedures don't seem to need you to announce you're making procedures, just let us know what the Cabal has decided.

I think the admins are / should be accountable to the users, but I don't think that needs to be through the government.

A sensible middle ground from my perspective would be to have the processes we come up with put forward to critique by the forum members in Technical Discussions or something.

There are going to be some points not up for discussion: If an admin comes across an account which is trying to hack the forum, or is posting child pornography or other RL illegal materials, then they are going to be expected to ban and delete as appropriate, no matter what anybody wants. For other matters, like proxy usage, flaming, harassment, and trolling, it's the community's purposes that the forum rules are intended to serve, so the community's input is essential.

I agree with this but, I think it should be added that an announcement of some kind should be made when such an event happens.  The lack of one makes the action seem sinister, not that I think St Oz had any hidden agenda.

I can agree with that, as long as "RL illegal materials" have a sensitive (sensible? I never know which one) approach, we're not nuke trigger happy deleting accounts for "slipping" into copy rights violations (for posting a picture of Iron Man (R)(TM) and such) or LSD recipes, I hope.

Thank you Oz. I thought I was going crazy for a second there. I withdraw my initial request for a Mediator. I can understand the temptation for deletion :)
