Cormac for Citizen-Initiator
« on: February 12, 2015, 07:32:20 AM »
Howdy, I'm Cormac. I'll try to keep this brief and to the point.  :-P

I'm running for Citizen-Initiator because I've already gotten more involved here by joining TaiMil and I would like to get even further involved. I'm also running because legislating is one of my favorite activities in NationStates and one that I'm good at, so I think I can make positive contributions presiding over the Ecclesia -- not so much by leading, because we're all leaders here, but by diving in and helping to improve legislative proposals, identify issues we may want to legislate, etc.

One concrete aim of my term as Citizen-Initiator, if I'm elected, will be to ensure that the Wiki with our laws is regularly updated, that we have a back-up thread here on this forum listing our laws if the Wiki can't be updated, or ideally both. It's important to newcomers especially to be able to quickly and easily find our laws in one place, and as a relative newcomer to Taijitu but not a newcomer to NationStates I know that I've struggled to find things a time or two.

The other responsibility of the Citizen-Initiator is to approve citizenship applications. I'm active on this forum multiple times daily, so I will be sure to be diligent in making sure those applications are moving along.

I'm happy to take any questions!

What is your plan to maintain revolutionary fervor?

I will send the outgoing Citizen-Initiator to the guillotine.

But in the event that you were looking for a more serious answer: I do think it's important to keep in mind that Taijitu made a conscious decision to simplify its government and create a fresh, vibrant direct democracy. I would advocate and remind the Ecclesia of those principles anytime it seems we might be sliding away from that direction and toward the old hat, stale republics that are so common in NS.

I remember you were particularly good at this in TNP.
Today's date is: Today is Jocidi, 5 Cielidor AR 5 - Day 1770 of the Glorious Revolution.

Many touchstones try the stranger
Many fall, but one remains.
