Request for Permission to make Technical Change
« on: November 15, 2013, 05:00:02 AM »
I'd like to request permission to change the way we store the Constitution to be like the way we hold our laws: with [wiki]Constitution of Taijitu[/wiki] as a small page which transcludes [wiki]Document:Constitution of Taijitu[/wiki]. As an example, I have drawn up this.

This will simplify the technical process of proposing exact changes to the constitution, at least a little.

I intend to implement this change by moving [wiki]Constitution of Taijitu[/wiki] to [wiki]Document:Constitution of Taijitu[/wiki] (preserving history) and removing the navbox and category, then creating a new "Constitution of Taijitu" wiki page consisting of this. with
Code: [Select]
|name=User:Eluvatar/Constitution of Taijitu changed to
Code: [Select]
|name=Constitution of Taijitu and
Code: [Select]
{{:User:Eluvatar/Document:Constitution of Taijitu}} changed to
Code: [Select]
{{:Document:Constitution of Taijitu}}.

Cheers!

PS: I leave it to the Court to consider whether to alter the index topics in this area.

as an aside I would like to make a point to you

The navbox stuff makes editing the wiki extremely convoluted

When we were proposing legislative changes to revive Taijitu people tried to tell me that the constitution is impossible to edit because of the navbox stuff

Nobody told me how to do it, I figured it out myself by messing around with the code.  I posted the edited stuff in the senate to show it could be done.  Even after I posted the change, nobody was interested to know how to edit things, they just like to pretend that it's broken.  "Broken" wiki.  "Broken" Taijitu.  "Broken" constitutional republic.

So yes, I welcome your move to simplify the framework.
