The Jeyden Judiciary:

The Judicial System of the Jeyden Government is comprised of three tiers of courts. The lowest court is called the Regional Court. Cases which are being appealed from the Regional’s are heard at the National Appeal’s Court. All cases which make it through the appeals system are heard at the Superior Judiciary Court.

Regional Courts:

  • Local Courts – Run by municipalities.
  • Regional Appeals – Cases being appealed are heard at this court which    decides if it will be heard by State Supreme Courts.
  • State Supreme Court – Deals with all appealed cases as well as any high-crime trials. (Murder, Treason, and Obstruction of Democracy)

Appeals Court:

  • Lower Appeals Court – Deals with petty criminal and domestic cases.
  • Higher Appeals Court – Deals with high-crime trials.
Superior Judiciary Court:

  • Judiciary Court – Deals with all incoming appeals.
  • Grand Judiciary – Comprised of the top judges, or Counsel’s, to act as Judge, Jury, and Executioner. Matters of national securities, and appealed high-crimes are heard at this court. Habeus Corpus does not apply here.

Judge: Mediator of a courtroom. This person compiles information from the attorney’s of all involved parties and provider of legal counsel to the common jury. Elected by their Municipality for a term of 10 years. (1 judge per municipality)

Justice: Any Judge serving in the Appeals or Judiciary Court. Elected by The Judiciary Council.

The Judiciary Council: Comprised of one representative Justice from each state appointed by the President or the Attorney General. Each representative, or Counsel, serves in the Grand Judiciary as a non-partisan judge without political bias. Based on a case-to-case basis, the verdict is determined by a majority or two-thirds vote.

The only way to reach the southern part of the nation (The adenian desert and other provinces) is to travel by plane or through the Balrahn pass.

History
Jeyden is still a new nation. Approximately fifty-two years ago, the Jeyd people lead a coup de etat against the Adenian government, a despotic government who used to reign over the region. The government is now trying to get off of its feet, using much of the old military as their own, and heavily funding social welfare to keep the democratic way in motion within the country.
