Territories of Duluozia
-Federal City District
Capital: Federal City
The Federal City District covers a small peninsula about halfway down the coastline. Most of the territory consists of Federal City and its suburbs. Federal City is the least populous of Duluozia’s major urban centers. For decades it has had a reputation as a center of organized crime, but Mayor Stevens’ campaign to revitalize the police force led to a major reduction in the power of the cartels. The rest of the District is reserved for National Parks and wildlife preserves. President Ryder has recently appropriated some land from the preserves to construct a new military base… as soon as the funding is approved.
-Kerrefon
Capital: San Fris
Kerrefon lies on the Northern shore of Masico Bay. It is a land of beautiful fields and low hills which is graced with year-round mild weather. These favorable conditions have made its capital city of San Fris the cultural center of Duluozia. Kerrefon’s original settlers were drawn in by a gold rush, and remnants of this frontier environment still persist in the interior, near the border with Danotah. The coastal cities and villages, however, are rather cosmopolitan.
-Greater Yerk
Capital: North Yerk
Located on a large peninsula north of the Federal City District, the Territory of Greater York is the business hub of Duluozia. North Yerk, favorably situated in Yerk Harbor, is the nation’s main port for imports and exports and is home to a successful shipyard. Governor Goldbook is unusual among Duluozian politicians, having been elected on a strong law and order platform. The state has seen a rapid upsurge in violence recently, as the organized crime rings forced out of the Federal City sought to set up shop in North Yerk, sparking conflict with local gangs. Governor Goldbook has sought to quell this violence, but regularly faces an uncooperative territorial legislature unwilling to provide funding.
-Nersey
Capital: Smithtown
Nersey Territory lies on the coast between Kerrefon and Greater Yerk. It is not heavily populated, but is more developed than Masico or Danotah. The viability of the region’s service-based economy depends on the important roads that run through it. Travelers between North Yerk and the cities to the south are very familiar with the rest stops and motels of Nersey. The capital city of Smithtown was hit hard by the Depression, leading many inner city residents to move elsewhere.
-Masico
Capital: Masico City
When the early Duluozian settlers arrived, the southern territory of Masico was already moderately populated. The settlers and natives entered into a peaceful coexistence, with the Masicans eventually acceding to the federal union. Although Masico is culturally distinct, the long and peaceful history of relations between the two peoples encourages unity, and there is only a small – though vocal – Masican separatist movement. Masico is less developed than the rest of Duluozia, and is a primarily agricultural state.
-Danotah
Capital: Homana
Danotah is the state with the most territory and the fewest inhabitants. It encompasses most of the western parts of the nation north of Masico and the nearly uninhabited northern districts. Because of its vast geographic expanse, the territory boasts a diverse political environment, and its often scandal-wracked legislature is a staple on newspapers’ politics pages. Governor Cassidy has taken steps recently to encourage further settlement in Danotah, with little success.
