Whereamistan At A Glance
The Holy Republic of Whereamistan is a huge, devout nation, notable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 419 million are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Commerce. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 45%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Soda Sales, and Uranium Mining industries.

A crusade against barbaric religious practices has begun, all guns must be registered, rumours have it that a secret police is responsible for the recent spate of missing persons, and private business has started paving paradises and putting up parking lots. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Whereamistan's national animal is the falcon, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dinar

History
The lands of Whereamistan prior to the unification, was a wasteland of warlords, tribal sheiks, and nomadic herdsmen. The warlords fought for countrol of the lush lowlands surrounded by the two rivers Hussein, and Mohammed named after the two Imams. The Lowlands now since, renamed Karbula is the nations capital. Forty Five years ago British educated and American armed Mohammed Tah Abbas took his militia and swept through the country bringing groups to the knees. Since then, He has emboldened the population with a call to arms, a nuclear arsenal, and political propaganda strenghtening national resolve.  The Islamic faith pays a heavy part in society, but has been withheld from running the government.

Government

National Flag

Elections have been "suspended" while President Abbas fights off the insurgents within the country and the influences throughout the region. Primary concerns are Defense, and Commerce..in fact those are the only concerns with Spirituality, Law And Order, and Healthcare in a distant third. Money feeds the government, big business tends to make whole decisions about the future of the country. Badmouthing the government would lead to being taken in the middle of the night to never be heard from again.

Supreme Leader

The Supreme Leader of Whereamistan is responsible for delineation and supervision of "the general policies of the Islamic Republic of Whereamistan". The Supreme Leader is Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, controls the military intelligence and security operations; and has sole power to declare war. The heads of the judiciary, state radio and television networks, the commanders of the police and military forces and six of the twelve members of the Council of Guardians are appointed by the Supreme Leader. The Assembly of Experts elects and dismisses the Supreme Leader on the basis of qualifications and popular esteem.[48] The Assembly of Experts is responsible for supervising the Supreme Leader in the performance of legal duties.

Executive

After the Supreme Leader, the Constitution defines the President as the highest state authority. The President is elected by universal suffrage for a term of four years. Presidential candidates must be approved by the Council of Guardians prior to running in order to ensure their allegiance to the ideals of the Islamic revolution. The President is responsible for the implementation of the Constitution and for the exercise of executive powers, except for matters directly related to the Supreme Leader, who has the final say in all matters. The President appoints and supervises the Council of Ministers, coordinates government decisions, and selects government policies to be placed before the legislature. Eight Vice-Presidents serve under the President, as well as a cabinet of twenty-one ministers, who must all be approved by the legislature. Unlike many other states, the executive branch in Iran does not control the armed forces. Although the President appoints the Ministers of Intelligence and Defense, it is customary for the President to obtain explicit approval from the Supreme Leader for these two ministers before presenting them to the legislature for a vote of confidence.

Council of Guardians

The Council of Guardians comprises twelve jurists including six appointed by the Supreme Leader. The head of the judiciary, who is also appointed by the Supreme Leader, recommends the remaining six, who are officially appointed by Parliament. The Council interprets the constitution and may veto Parliament. If a law is deemed incompatible with the constitution or Sharia (Islamic law), it is referred back to Parliament for revision. In a controversial exercise of its authority, the Council has drawn upon a narrow interpretation of Iran's constitution to veto parliamentary candidates.

Expediency Council

The Expediency Council has the authority to mediate disputes between Parliament and the Council of Guardians, and serves as an advisory body to the Supreme Leader, making it one of the most powerful governing bodies in the country.

Parliment

The Majles-e Shura-ye Eslami (Islamic Consultative Assembly) is comprised of 290 members elected for four-year terms. The Majlis drafts legislation, ratifies international treaties, and approves the national budget. All Majlis candidates and all legislation from the assembly must be approved by the Council of Guardians. Before the Islamic Revolution, Whereamistan's legislature was bicameral with both the Majlis and a Senate; the Senate was eliminated in the 1979 constitution.

Judiciary

The Supreme Leader appoints the head of the Judiciary, who in turn appoints the head of the Supreme Court and the chief public prosecutor. There are several types of courts including public courts that deal with civil and criminal cases, and "revolutionary courts" which deal with certain categories of offenses, including crimes against national security. The decisions of the revolutionary courts are final and cannot be appealed. The Special Clerical Court handles crimes allegedly committed by clerics, although it has also taken on cases involving lay people. The Special Clerical Court functions independently of the regular judicial framework and is accountable only to the Supreme Leader. The Court's rulings are final and cannot be appealed.

Assembly of Experts

The Assembly of Experts, which meets for one week annually, comprises 86 "virtuous and learned" clerics elected by adult suffrage for eight-year terms. As with the presidential and parliamentary elections, the Council of Guardians determines candidates' eligibility. The Assembly elects the Supreme Leader and has the constitutional authority to remove the Supreme Leader from power at any time. The Assembly has never been known to challenge any of the Supreme Leader's decisions.

City Council

Local councils are elected by public vote to four-year terms in all cities and villages of Iran. According to article seven of Whereamistan's Constitution, these local councils together with the Parliament are "decision-making and administrative organs of the State". This section of the constitution was not implemented until 1999 when the first local council elections were held across the country. Councils have many different responsibilities including electing mayors, supervising the activities of municipalities; studying the social, cultural, educational, health, economic, and welfare requirements of their constituencies; planning and co-ordinating national participation in the implementation of social, economic, constructive, cultural, educational and other welfare affairs.

Economic Details

Whereamistan is the region's leading petroleum producer. Oil accounts for more than 90% of exports and nearly 75% of government revenues, facilitating the creation of a welfare state, which the government has found difficult to fund during periods of low oil prices. The government is attempting to promote growth in the private sector by privatizing industries such as power and telecom. Whereamistan announced plans to begin privatizing the electricity companies in 1999, which followed the ongoing privatization of the telecommunications company. Shortages of water and rapid population growth may constrain government efforts to increase self-sufficiency in agricultural products. To diversify the economy, Whereamistan launched a new city on the western coast with investments exceeding 26.6 billion dollars. The city which is named "Kirmuk Economic City" will be built near al-Rabegh industrial city north to Jeddah. The new city, where construction work started in December 2005, includes a port which is the largest port of the nation. Extending along a coastline of 35 km, the city will also include petrochemical, pharmaceutical, tourism, finance and education and research areas.

Military

Chief Of Staff:
The Chief of the General Staff is appointed by the President, and he is responsible to the Prime Minister. The Council of Ministers is responsible to the parliament for matters of national security and the adequate preparation of the armed forces to defend the country. However, the authority to declare war and to deploy the Hajji Armed Forces to foreign countries or to allow foreign armed forces to be stationed in Whereamistan rests solely with the parliament. The actual Commander of the armed forces is the Chief of the General Staff General Ya?ar Büyükan?t who succeeded General Hilmi Özkök on August 26, 2006.

Geography

The nation occupies thirty percent of the Arabian Continent. Most of the country's boundaries are with  unclaimed land mass or small tribal civilizations and are not precisely defined, so the exact size of the country remains unknown. The government's estimate is 917,949 km².

Its geography is surprisingly varied. From the western coastal region (At-Tihamah), the land rises from sea level to a peninsula-long mountain range (jabal al-Hijaz) beyond which are plateaus. The southwestern 'Asir region has mountains as high as 3,000 metres (9,840 ft) and is known for having the greenest and freshest climate in all of the country, one that attracts many Hajjis to resorts such as Abha in the summer months. The east is primarily rocky or sandy lowland continuing to the shores of the Moujmah Gulf. The geographically hostile "Empty Quarter" along the country's imprecisely defined southern borders contains the nearly lifeless Rub' al-Khali desert.
Mostly uninhabited, much of the nation's landmass consists of desert and semi-desert with a dwindling traditional bedouin population. In these parts of the country, vegetation is limited to weeds, xerophytic herbs and shrubs. Less than 2% of the kingdom's total area is suitable for cultivation. Population centers are mainly located along the eastern and western coasts and densely populated interior oases such as Hofuf and Buraydah. In some extended areas, primarily the Rub' al-Khali and the Arabian Desert and East Sahero-Arabian xeric shrublands, there is no population whatsoever, although the petroleum industry is constructing a few planned communities there. Saudi Arabia has no permanent year-round rivers or lakes; however, its coastline extends for 2,640 kilometers (1,640 mi) and, on the Takili Sea side, offers world-class coral reefs, including those in the Gulf of Aqaba.
Native animals include the ibex, wildcats, baboons, wolves, and hyenas in the mountainous highlands. Small birds are found in the oases. The coastal area on the Takili Sea with its coral reefs has a rich marine fauna.

Climate
Extreme heat and aridity are characteristic of most of Whereamistan. It is one of the few places in the world where summer temperatures above 50°C (120°F) are common, while in winter frost or snow can occur in the interior and the higher mountains, although this does not occur annually. The average winter temperature range is 8° to 20°C (47° to 68°F) in January in interior cities such as Riyadh and 19° to 29°C (66° to 83°F) in Jeddah on the Red Sea coast. The average summer range in July is 27° to 43°C (81° to 109°F) in Riyadh and 27° to 38°C (80° to 100°F) in Jeddah. Nighttime temperatures in the mid desert can be famously chilly even in summer, as sand gives up daytime heat rapidly once the sun has set.
Annual precipitation is usually sparse (up to 100 millimetres (4 inches) in most regions), although sudden downpours can lead to violent flash floods in wadis. Annual rainfall in Karbula averages 100 mm (4 inches) and falls almost exclusively between January and May; the average in Jeddah is 54 mm (2.1 inches) and occurs between November and January. Plants can still survive in Whereamistan, mostly in the south-east mountains and lowlands. They bloom mid-March through mid-May. The plants provide food for birds and insects.
