The Glomin
« on: October 20, 2007, 02:10:32 AM »
The Glomin is a relatively small country founded just over 200 years ago when a number of small kingdoms and city states banded together for mutual defense and greater international trading power.  While officially a absolute monarchy in reality the country is run by a group of elected councilors. With a small and technologically backward armed forces the Glomin has stayed away from the limelight of international relations, however following the death of the previous monarch Martin Von Endorp (may he rest in peace) and the crowning of his son Willik Von Endorp it is expected that the Glomin will be becoming much more of an international player.

Important people

Royal family:
King Willik Von Endorp - A young vigrous man who takes his role as commander in chief of the armed forces very seriously.  He is enthusiastic and compasionate often pushing through edicts that rile the aristocracy (though make him very popular among the common people).

Princess Sarah Von Endorp - An angry young woman who it is hoped will grow out of it.

Others:
General Marcus Von Flick - General in command of the army, an excenteric young man who while very good at his job is also very odd.  A childhood friend of Willik Von Endorp.

The Glomin is policed by two different police forces, in the cities there is the metropolitan police force which is a more regular police force while elsewhere there is the civil guard which is a far more paramilitary organization.

The Metropolitan police have the following roles:
-maintenance of urban law and order
-protection of the people of Glomin
-to carry out the orders of the lawful government of glomin

The civil guard has the following roles:
-maintenance of law and order
-protection of the people of glomin
-to carry out the orders of the lawful government of glomin
-to maintain and monitor the borders of glomin
-to protect the environment of glomin
