Allama, OT, Wast, Delfos, and myself propose we amend Article I, Section 3 of the
Standing Ordinances to read:
Section 3
a. The citizen-initiator shall be an elected official responsible for approving citizenship requests. Once elected, a citizen-initiator shall serve until their resignation, removal by the Ecclesia, or if a citizenship request goes unapproved for seven days.
i. The citizen-initiator may not deny citizenship unless one of the conditions defined in Section 2 are not met, or if the applicant is deemed a security risk.
ii. If the citizen-initiator denies citizenship to an applicant based on a perceived security risk, this must be evaluated by the Ecclesia immediately.
iii. In all other instances, the Ecclesia alone can deny citizenship to an applicant who otherwise meets all the criteria defined in Section 2.
The goal here is to give the citizen-initiator leeway to deny requests such as raiders attempting to usurp the government via our own democracy while keeping his or her powers as tightly controlled as possible. What does the Ecclesia think of this?
