IPO Forum - Funds
« on: November 23, 2007, 06:57:20 PM »
Discuss on how this organization could sustain itself with capital property. We will experience some funding problems soon if we don't figure out good ways, donation capital isn't going to last forever and most of it is for humanitarian bureau.

Should we ask a small tax to member nations?

Should we start asking for money to the nations where we perform social work?

Should we reinforce donation system?

What should we do?

I fear that this is one of the points we should have cleared from the start.
Many members will be against a "tax" and may take it as a reason to leave the organization.
It must however be clear that an organization like this is not going to work without a certain degree of administration and office work (I shun the term "bureaucracy") and will need financial support for this part.
"Operational costs" must be paid for.
The problem I see is that if we raise a "Tax" based on what every country is willing to give many will try to use this as a lever to force home their issues.
Especially those who can give more than others.
So we should take the economically weakest member as a basis for the size of the financial support and have everyone pay the same, Not in percentage from their economy but in $.
The power we hold comes from our citizens.
And they may take it away as well.

Overall I am in support of this plan, but I fear that levering any kind of "tax" on people, no matter what it is based on, may drive some members away.  This organization needs to grow, not shrink.

Let's call it a "Membership fee". Some people would pay everything to be part of certain clubs.
But yes I agree we should find a way to secure financial support without driving out members.
But I must also ask to understand that we will need financial support.

I know we need financial support, but it seems as though we're going to have to base it off of donations.  And we have to make sure that all of our projects can be immediately shut down so that we don't incur any debts.

I would like all members to be involved in finding a solution to this problem instead of just putting it aside.
Also just shutting down our projects is unacceptable for the easy reason that they will not "Hold at current level".
If those projects are left unfinished they will deteriorate and we will have to start from zero or even worst.
Also it will nullify any thrust in our projects.
Nobody would assist us if they could not be sure that we would go the full distance.
Instead our projects should be geared towards teaching people how to help themselves.
I will put up a vote and all members can work together to find a solution.

OOC: You know, if you just wanted to insult America, you should've just insulted America.  Adding in a useless throwaway IC statement is just superfluous.

OOC: I'm referring to this; it's useless and there was really no reason to add it in.

I like to add IC comments whenever i can, even if they are useless, everything is useless depending the point of view so just quit trying to make me say things I don't mean.

Actually, not so useless, I was to do this topic while i was in administration, i didn't got my last day's time to create the forum, that has everything to do with it, I was planning to present expenses but now that Pachaman is admin I'm waiting for him to do it.

If you can find the time you might want to find out what this organization is all about.
Following your idea we might as well shoot ourselves in the head. This would kill the IPO as sure but with less trouble to other people.
This is an organization for peace and humanitarian aid not a "Let's buy the third world with our money" club.
Besides as I understand it your country would be on the list for those who would receive aid .
Aren't you in a constant civil war or was that in the old RP  ???

Let's start with a list of things IPO doesn't have to pay for.

Delegates      Paid by their countries

Security        Paid by Terrangar Police/ Military budget
This includes drivers and helicopter services.

Here is a short overview of costs. As the HQ is in my country these are Terrangan pay grades.
Consider these people well paid by my countries standards. This is yearly income.

Secretaries     $ 20,000
Hotel personal $ 15,000    (This is average. Some positions will receive more, others less)

And they may take it away as well.
