I would like to become a citizen.  I am New History lovers on NS, and I have applied for UN membership, but not received a response as of yet.

I, New History lovers, do affirm that I shall at all times obey and respect the laws of Taijitu, that I shall do nothing to imperil the safety and well being of the region or any of its members, and recognize that should I fail to comply to this affirmation that my citizenship and the immunities and privileges it entitles may by due process of law be forfeit.

I cannot swear, 'tis against my religion.  You'll have to settle for affirmation.

hey you have my support

approve the affirmation! The oath doesn't fit everyone, so it means not all are welcome, or is it not? lets welcome everybody!

I wish to be a citizen of Taijitu. Here's the oath.

I, Leader Marc-André Samson of the Republic of Musachanage, do solemnly swear that I shall at all times obey and respect the laws of Taijitu, that I shall do nothing to imperil the safety and well being of the region or any of its members, and recognize that should I fail to comply to this oath that my citizenship and the immunities and privileges it entitles may by due process of law be forfeit.

Shall I spill my blood now?

"I believe every single person is extraordinary. The tragedy is that we
have a society where too many people never get to fulfill that
extraordinary potential. My view – the liberal view – is that
government’s job is to help them to do it. Not to tell people how to
live their lives. But to make their choices possible, to release their
potential, no matter who they are. The way to do that is to take power away from those who hoard it. To challenge vested interests. To break down privilege. To clear out the bottlenecks in our society that block opportunity and block progress. And so give everyone a chance to live the life they want." - Nick Clegg, Leader of the Liberal Democrats and Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

Delfos, I'm not changing the oath unless ordered by the Senate. If the oath said "I swear by God", it would be a violation. Since it just says "I swear", followed by no deity, it really can't be against one's religion.

Everyone's approved.

FSNS, I'm afraid your nation does not exist. Though I've already masked you, it is STRONGLY suggested you update your oath as soon as possible.

To be perfectly frank, to swear is against my religion.

I'm related to Freemasons but I'm not one of those crazies.  That's from the Bible.  The same one Christians look at.

Hey, I might wanna join the Freemason's when I come of age. They don't wanna take over the world.

In any case, your oath's still alright with me. Even though you affirmed instead of swore, and I won't change the oath unless ordered by the Senate, I don't find it a violation.

I'd like to request my citizenship, so I'm gonna do the swearing:

I, Amangaer, do solemnly swear that I shall at all times obey and respect the laws of Taijitu, that I shall do nothing to imperil the safety and well being of the region or any of its members, and recognize that should I fail to comply to this oath that my citizenship and the immunities and privileges it entitles may by due process of law be forfeit.

My nation on NationStates is: http://www.nationstates.net/amangaer.

(But when I reach the Senate I will propose to stop swearing or express that it is only RP. It is too serious as OOC.)
