The large Hibernian chewed on the foreign speak for a minute or two.

" It rests on what power type you wish talk to. Our mountain lord be not three leagues from this spot, but Kesjare in Karaz-a-Karak is hundreds away. "

When the government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.

Tyrants from Hitler to Mao to Stalin have sought to disarm their own citizens, for the simple reason that unarmed people are easier to control.

"Mmm...yes."

The Conquesteur dropped his knapsack to the ground and removed a communicator. He typed in a request for a helicopter and put it back in.

"That is all we needed to know, thank you."

The IAEO helicopter taking the four explorers, one conquisteur, and two Hibernian natives landed at the foot of the mountains the Hibernians indicated was the Kesjare's. The helicopter waited for the men to get out before taking off again. The steel cuirasses had been replaced with a light jacket for the trip up the equator straddling mountain.

Thargan, one of the Hibernians traveling with the Myrorians, hopped out of the helicopter. His friend followed suit, and lastly the Myrorians came. He studied his surroundings, pulling out a map from his pack.

" Foreigner, look at map that is mine. The trip we make will be long and shall be greatly tough for you. Thurador and I shall guide you. Now, have you any camp materials so we may begin our rest? "

The Myrorians dropped their backpacks and took the extra camp materials from the helicopter before it again flew off on the horizon.

"These extra ones are for setting up a base camp. Most climbers back home use it as a base for tall climbs."

" You and us have no use for climbing. We Hibernians know of the paths to the holds, no one can survive climb of Karaz-a-Karak. Let us speak no more of it now, we must set camp. "

So the Hibernians and Myrorians began to set up their camp. The Hibernians were awed at the quality of the Myrorian's temporary abode and saw that they learned the ways of their tent-making. Finishing the fire and dinner, they went to sleep.

The night passed by uneventful. The Hibernians woke at the crack of dawn, ready for the journey that lay ahead of them. They walked inside the tents of the Myrorians. Thargan began to shake the conquisteur to wake him, but ended up passing massive gas in the face of an explorer. He made his rounds, waking up all the Myrorians.

The Conquisteur waved his hand in front of his face before getting up.

"Well, lead the way. My explorers are ready."

" So it shall be. "

They packed camp and ate breakfast. Today was going to be an easy day, just a long march up the Kesjare's road. They would face nothing more than a few rabid wolves and bears, possibly a rogue wildling or two.

The two shotgun troopers took position at the back and the four other explorers, led by the Conquesteur, followed the Hibernians up the path.

They passed they day by uneventfully, only having to kill a few wolves. After making camp and eating dinner, Thargan went to bed early.
He had dreams that night, terrible dreams.

Some idiot tribesmen had attacked them without reason. They killed one of the foreigners after charging them with hundreds of other spear-chuckers. One of the Myrorians who was slain told of the bandit clans rising again and attacking them. Thargan was also killed later, by reason of superior intelligence. His Uncle Thorgrim had declared war on the simple tribesmen.

The dream ended with Thargan waking up to the smell of fresh elk meat frying in a skillet.
