The "Crash"
« on: February 12, 2007, 09:31:35 PM »

It was a typical, dry day in the forests east of Bustos. All was calm. The birds were chirping, and the monkeys were jumping from tree to tree. All was normal. Then - a small sparkle in the sky. The sparkle grew larger, and redder. The monkeys stopped their swinging and turned their heads to the sky. Roaring began - quiet at first; then louder. And louder. Soon the fire was looming on the horizon. Then, a splash from far away. The monkeys were no longer intrigued and they continued their meandering across the trees. They didn't know it now, but the event would change their lives forever.

The captain of the large tugboat, Sea Sow, a part of the fishing fleet in the Great Gulf, was directing his ship through the coastal waters some hundreds of miles from civilization. Doing the routine checks around the tugboat, he went above deck to view the beautiful rainforest ahead of him. As he was climbing the ladder, he saw a glorious light fall into the ocean about 2 leagues away. He called to the pilot of the tugboat.

" Andrew, make course towards that splash. If there something or someone important in there, we need to go get it out of the water. " the captain yelled.

" Aye, sir. I suspect we'll be there withing the hour. Do you want me to call the rest of the fleet? " he questioned.

" Yes. I think this might be something important. " he replied

The little tugboat chugged its way to the enormous splash as fast as it could.

A finger ran up and down the column upon column of buttons. By now the craft was dark and power was being conserved. Four men walked to a hatch and clunked it open.

"Hurry up, for God's sake."

"We can't exactly complete our mission if the shuttle sinks, now can we?"

"I'm hurrying, jeese."

"Ok. When you get out swin to that wing and get on the top."

The man in front took off his shirt, threw it inside the shuttle, and dived in the water. He surfaced and got to the wing before climbing up on it. The three others were there in minutes.

"Ok - the parachutes worked. Luckily. I never expected three 'chutes from the Andromeda program to work so well on something this big..."

"Well, now we wait. Hopefully the Ryazanians aren't far away."

A knock came at the office of an Air Force Colonel, who's responsibility was keeping an aerial watch on the eastern front of Bustos.

"Come in," said the Colonel

"Colonel, you need to see this," the Sergeant said with radar pictures in hand.

"What is it Sergeant?"

"We have tracked a UFO that crashed into the East Ocean."

"Get me JMCC right away," the Colonel ordered after reviewing the pictures.

"Yes, sir."

Admiral Tigger, commander of the 7th Allied Fleet, stood on the bridge of his carrier, looking into the horizon through binoculars, in the direction of the last known coordinates of the UFO crash.  Hmmm, no visible plume of smoke.  If there was one, its gone now.

"Any updates from JMCC?"

"No Admiral.  They are waiting for us to report in as soon as we arrive," replied his first officer.

"Okay, I want us to set up a perimeter once we are on location.  How much longer before the birds report in?"

"Yes, sir.  Seven minutes."

"Any other ships in the area?"

"There was a sighting of a small boat further east from the location.  Colors are unknown.  Suspected commerical ship, although it was last seen heading towards the site.  The USS Silent Death should be arriving on location.  ETA...uh," as the first officer looks at her watch, "36 minutes.  She will be keeping radio silence and a watch on the area until we arrive, sir."

"Good, make sure we get there as soon as possible.  We will need to secure the location and lay claim.  Keep an eye on that boat."

"Yes, sir."

"Hey, look at that Dougal!"

"Look like jets to me."

"Wait, jets? How close were we to Bustos? Dimitri, get in there and turn on the MFD, and switch to the map of Taijitu and our current position."

"I would, sir, but the cabin's underwater."

"Damnit. Well, we'd just better wait it out and hope we don't get shot or anything."

"Hope we don't get shot...Wonderful plan, Dougal."

"Admiral, Falcon Squadron reported sighting what appears to be a small floating craft, with two people on top of it."

"Be more specific, Commander."

"I am afraid I cant.  Falcon Squadron does not recognize the craft.  It is not a boat, but appears to be floating at the coordinates of the site.  Might be a downed plane or an ejection capsule of some kind at their best guess."

"Well if its a plane, it wont be floating for long.  Send a rescue chopper to retrieve the two people and bring them back here.  Once we enter and secure the area, we'll salvage their vehicle for inspection.  Inform JMCC we have possibly found the UFO and ask for any intel regarding the situation."

"Yes, sir," the commander faced the bridge personnel and began barking orders.

Just what do we have here?  Experiemental military aircraft? the Admiral began to ponder on what they will salvage and the story the two men might give him.

The Sea Cow and her crew finally arrived within sight of the downed Myrorian spacecraft and her astronauts. Stopping 20 feet from the quickly sinking shuttle, he yelled to the Myrorians.

" Come on, lads. Swim over here and get in the cabin. " he shouted over the water.

The Myrorians quickly swam over to the tugboat. Some of the mates took them into the captain's cabin, shortly before the captain himself arrived. He tossed a bottle of Ryazanian Single Barrel Rum at them.

" So, I understand from my Lord that I was to pick ya' up and take ya' with th' fleet, " he said, adding air quotations to 'fleet', " and take you and your shuttle to land. Now, I can do this. But just where is something I can hook the winch up to? I don't want th' thing to sink 'afor I get my crowns. " he said, drinking his rum.

"Yeah," Dougal said, holding back one of the other astronauts from stealing the rum bottle.

"The IAAA put some winch points on the top of the tail, and the tip of each wing."

OOC: Don't cry godmod. Considering tugboats can do this:

(Which weighs roughly 121,456,000 (121 million pounds), USS John F. Kennedy)

A tugboat can pull a 5,000,000 (five million pound) Space Shuttle Orbiter with a full bay onto shore.

OOC:  Well you crashed east of Bustos.  You'd think my government would not want to investigate a burning, crashing UFO?  It is not as if your governments were kind enough to warn us of such a planned crash, in which we could have facilitated its recovering having nearby ports for your ships or simply went "Oh that burning crashing object?  Its Myrorian's shuttle.  They phoned us the other day.  No biggie, they got it taken cared of."

IC:  The USS Silent Death watched from a distance the Ryazanian crewmen rush feverishly trying to save the sinking shuttle.  The colors in the shuttle were still under the waters, but its markings were one of a kind; Myrorian.

The captain knew his superiors would have wanted to capture the vessel in one piece but, she knew her secret orders.  "If we cant recover the object, make sure no one can."

"Firing solution?" she whispered out of habit.

"Acquired Captain."

"On both targets?"

"Yes ma'am."

"Fire Arrows Two and Ten."

"Firing Arrows Two and Ten."

In the far distance from the tugboat...
(OOC:  Imagine it isnt so close to the shore and you cannot see the bottom, couldnt find a better double launching picture)

"Maintain silent running, 5 knots, bearing one-nine-..."  By the time the captain completed her orders to leave the area, the Ryazanian tugboat and Myrorian shuttle were no more.

OOC: Your government wants to investigate stuff at 350E, 200S? Oh, we didn't specify. We had originally planed for that to happen in that area.

Ignored, because you do not have the resources to support any war against the UI which you are inevitably causing. In fact, the idiotic resource system doesn't let us do much of anything.

OOC: Hmm...he CAN provoke/start a war, but then he´d probably got in problems heavily unless someone helps him.
