An Expected Visit
« on: January 21, 2008, 12:49:56 AM »
The plane landed at the airport. It was raining. Alia liked the rain. It cleaned the dirt away. Which was why she was in Myoria. She wanted to see how Maurice, the new monarch was doing. From what she heard, the depression was slowly losing ground and the revival of the economy was happening. She had seen him at his father's funeral, but she didn't talk to him. She knew how it felt to lose a father. The plane made it's halt. Alia put her glass of Quebecois Wine down and got up. She was dressed in a pair of jeans, a white shirt and a blue overshirt. She let her hair down. Two of her guards were standing by the door. One was holding her jacket, while the other had an umbrella. The guard holding the jacket put it on her, and then they walked down the plane's steps. The sky was grey and dull, but she didn't care.

A limo was parked waiting for her to arrive. The limo didn't have any flags of the Canadian Empire on it. Alia's security was worried about the reported hanging of outlanders. They had gotten word of three Canadian tourists who had fled Myroria north to Christstan after one of them had been beaten by Myrorian ultra-nationalists early in the depression. No charges had ever been brought up. A group of guards were standing silently. They opened the limo door and the Empress got in the car. Her guards followed her in. The limo slowly took off and was driving through the elegant buildings of the Myrorian capital. She looked at one of her guards. "When will we be at the palace?"

"In ten minutes, Your Majesty."

Good. She nodded. In ten minutes, she would see the Myrorian Emperuer. She liked him. He seemed more liberal then his conservative relatives. He seemed to want change, much like her when Alia took the throne. She fluffed her long brown hair. She needed to look her best.

His Imperial Majesty, Maurice Tar-Ilium, looked over his shoulder. He was meeting the Canadian Empress, and this would be a prime time for angry Quarrovth and Hanso kinsmen to assassinate him. He had arranged a system for the entire palace; the front parlour had three doors, one facing the entrance to the Grand Imperial Residence, two facing the dining hall.

"Are those doors locked, Jundr?"

"Yes, Your Majesty. Should I tell the Empress the rules when she arrives?"

"No, Jundr. I trust her."

Jundr was shocked. He trusted nobody. Aunt Emma couldn't put a hand on his shoulder. Uncle Mattir had to stand five feet away at all times. And here the Empress of Canada was, allowed to sit right next to Maurice. Stunning.
"I assure you -- I will be quite content to be a mere mortal again, dedicated to my own amusements."

The limo pulled up to the Grand Imperial Residence. A man was waiting at the door. He opened the limo door. Alia's two bodyguards, Jean-Luc and William got out and let the Empress out. The man bowed respectivly. "Your Imperial Majesty, I am Jundr. Empereur Maurice is waiting for you inside." He showed Alia to the door and opened it for her. She walked in, with her two guards close by her. They were not taking any chances. The last of the Artorions needed to be protected at all costs. Alia saw Maurice in the parlour. She put on her best smile and walked in. She took off her coat and gave it to Jean-Luc. She walked up and bowed. "Your Imperial Majesty, It is a pleasure to meet you." He bowed back. Alia sat down next to him and decided to start off the conversation. "So what do you recommend?"
