Meshach's Folly
« on: July 17, 2007, 04:21:44 AM »
*Chancellor Meshach Ramadon paced back and forth in his office. He was a large man, which made his office small, and himself claustrophobic. At 55, he had overseen the affairs of the Holy Empire of Abed-empire. But he grew tired of his limited power. The royal family began to suspect treachery amongst their higher-ups, and so began the tradition of limiting a chancellors term in office. Had he been a more reasonable man, Mesach would have accepted this with unfaltered grace and respect towards his majesty's decission. But he had seen things. Mesach was by any means a easonable man. 55, more half his life gone. 5'8", 315 l.b.'s. He was built for violence, and he knew how to use it to his advantage.* How dare Shadrach do this to me.....* He began to mutter to himself. Distant first, but grew into gaustrophoney that it could he heard throughout the entire west wing of the Holy Palace. But empty it was. So he continued his rant uninterupted.* How dare he!!!! I have over seen the affairs of Abed-Nego since before Shadrach even accended to the throne!!!! How dare he issue this....this....*He pounded his huge fist upon the desk top of his office. He lifted his huge hands. Dented and splintered, the shook as he lifted his fist* I will not descend!!!! Shadrach may have control of the people, but I have control of the army!!! Over 200,000 soilders have conspired with me against the crown...those still loyal to Shadrach will burn and wither....*He lifted his massive hands towards the sky as he cried in a voice like thunder when it strikes the earth!* And Abed-Nego will be hurled into a glorious dictarship!!! Under my command, Abed-Nego will be restored to her former glory!!! *His face grew disgusted and twisted as he spat* Asking for the aid of the colourless?!?! We black men have worked our lives for our nation that could be respected and envied by the rest!!! Shadrach has insulted our forefathers!!! *He reched into his jacket pocket and remoived a small, black cellphone. He dialed the number and held the phone to his ear as he tried to catch his breath. Damming his superior to a fate of damnation and dishonor took a lot out of him. A young man answered, possibly in his mid twenties. His voice was deep and gravely. like the growl of a jeep engine.* Hello? *Meshach smiled his twisted half smile as he spoke* Deploy the "Anasazi" His Majesty, Emperor Shadrach, will not be leaving the palace anytime soon....*The man chuckled deeply in the back of his throat* And your orders Chancellor? *Meshach inhaled deeply and removed from his desk drawer a brown box. Upon opening it, he selected the treasure inside. a thick brown cigar. He removed a match from his jacket pokect and struck it across his false tooth. He lite the cigar and inhaled the arouma deeply. A custome he developed during the civil war in 1997 that decided the fate of the royal family. The result ended in Shadrach acend into power. His military genius had been the fuel that drove the war machine of the Shadrach Revolution to victory. Since then, after forming a decisive military stratigem, he lite a cigar to celebrate. He took a long drag on the cigar, allowing the ash to fall onto the lion skin rug. He removed the cigar from his mouth and unleashed an ominous cloud of thick white smoke. In deep, low voice* Make him comfortable......*He smirked and chukled deeply in the back of his throat and ended the call. Within twenty-four hours,  The Holy Empire of Abed-Nego would belong to Meshach Ramadon*

Colonel Tom Richards moved silently onto the beach. Behind seven other Imperial Legionaries took the rear. This mission was top secret and given to them directly from the Kaiserin. He pulled out a map. The moon light gave off enough light for the eight commandos to see the map. Tom pointed to three areas on the map. "Alright I need you four in these areas. I will take you two into the palace and we will free the Emperor and his family. But we have to be careful. The palace is heavily guarded. You know your duties, now lets go." Tom pulled out his XM8 submachine gun. The others pulled out XM8 sniper rifles, battle rifles and machine guns. Tom and his other two commandos made their way to the palace from the lawn. They kept low so the guards wouldn't see them. They made it to the door. One commando unlocked the door with his tools. The trio made their way around the elustrious palace. Tom kept looking for the Emperor. They walked up to the Imperial Family's rooms. There he saw the Emperor and Empress sleeping. He signaled to the other two commandos to go get the Prince and Princess. Tom walked into the Emperor's bedroom and woke him up. Shadrach nearly had a heart attack when he saw the man with a gun. "Your Majesty, we are here to get you out. I am Colonel Richards of the Canadian Imperial Legion. We were sent here by order of the Kaiserin and your son. He will be waiting for you in the north." Shadrach got out of bed and put on civilian clothes. The EMpress was woken up and she did the same. The other commandos returned with the Prince and Princess. Tom nodded. "Lets go." The Imperial Family and the commandos let the way they came in. The silently made their way through the lawn and over the fence into the jungle. Now, they headed north.

We are smuggling the Empress and the princess out of the country. The Emperor and his sons want to stay and retake their country by force. The Chancellor has the loyalty of the army, but the emperor has the loyalty of the people. Send in squadrons to his northern base so we can build up an army.

The Skies begin to roar as first jets and choppers, then large bombers and tactical transport units fill the air. They move into the designated area where the armies had been told to meet. The transports and choppers drop wave after wave of soldiers of the Imperial Ground Forces. Tactical transports also spew vehicles and tanks. Many of these vehicles, along with several units from the Ground Forces, begin to clear away a swath of land to create a proper landing strip and air field. The rest of the troops begin to set up camp near the Canadian troops. They erect large green and camo tents capable of housing many troops, equipment, or vehicles. An AGF Serval jeep made it's way towards the headquarters of the camp, inside was the commander of the First Imperial Army, the million man force that had just landed and despite not being in command of the air wings dispatched to the area, he was assigned as the Commander of the Liberation force. His name was Generalmajor Baron Hanz von Strau. This man was a distinguished officer who had served with the Emperor in his campaign to create Christstan.

The jeep stopped at the headquarters and he made his way inside flanked by two armed guards and a senior officer dressed in a slightly different uniform than the major. His various awards clearly showed him to be a man of rank, but he was also significantly younger than the general. The general spoke on behalf of the group "I am sure you know of the arrival of my army. I am Generalmajor Baron Hanz von Strau, the commanding officer of my nation's forces here. The officer to my left is Oberst Paul Eberstark of the Imperial Air Force, he is my senior Aif Force commander here. We have a million men, several thousand tanks and other combat vehicles at our disposal. We have 2 Fighter wings of F-22s, another 2 of F-35s and 3 bomber wings along with many transport aircraft. We have several... UAV recon planes aswell. Now that we are all here I believe we may make our offensive."

He was a very direct man and was not one for much chit chat. The landing of all the troops and equipment and the clearing of the area for an air field would take quite some time though.

*Emperor Shadrach Breathed heavily. Being forced to the northern most region of his own kingdom....disgrace. Lazarus was the northern most region of Abed-Nego. The area itself being protected by thick jungles and wild beasts that lived and hunted in the brush. His own private army, The "Zulu", were actually stationed in Lazarus. In theory, Lazarus was a fortress where he could remain and contemplate his next move. But to him, this was no more than a heavily guarded prison. Shadrach sat in his seat of office. A large chair made of elephant hide, engraved with the names of every emperor before him. Inside the walls of his palace in Lazarus, he could actually force Meshach to come for him. But cowerdance did not become any member of the Knight family, and it certainly did not become a man born in the bush of Abed-Nego. He got up from his chair, and prepared to address the troops outside his palace. 1,000,000 troops, not including the other million of his personal army. He got to the door, where his sons were their to meet him. He stepped out onto the balcony, and stood before the million who had gathered o help him reclaim his land. Shadrach rarely spoke in public, but when the occasion arrived, he did not disappoint. He stood in an all ceremonial attire: Black robe, with the symbol of Abed-Nego, A lion standing on it's hind legs, blood trickling down it's jaws. A black ceremonial headdress of black linen, decorated with the teeth of lions and hyena. At his waist, a solid-steel sword in ivory hilt. useless in battle, stunning and awe inspiring in parade. Crown prince Noah Silenced the crowed with a wave of his hand, while Prince Elijah signaled the drummers to begin introducing the presence of his Holy Majesty, Emperor Shadrach Knight. The crowd hushed. Awaiting the speech they had so long waited for. The signal to take back Abed-Nego from Meshach. The signal to fight. Shadrach stood there. His eyes, tired and sedentary gray. He opened his mouth to speak. And none was prepared for the voice that flowed from his mouth like ivy, and ensnared 2,000,000 troops.* "My brothers....My people, and my allies....God weeps. God weeps because of the state of the world today....." *His voice was like distant thunder. It was not the noise itself, but the power the voice represented* "We are a society of snakes....Our lives....they are so full of sin, and treachery, and malice, and our morals become tattered and tarnished. But when our morals are worn out, what do we do? We shed ourselves of our morals for a new coat of deceit and treachery. We have sunken so low, that we cannot even trust ourselves....My brothers....My allies....You have come to aid us, to free our country, from a burning force of fear and power. Though this did not happen on your soil, you aid us as if we were brothers. We thank you. My brothers....My warriors....Will you be able to live with yourselves....when our nation s being run by the head of the ram of Satan? My Brothers! We will stampede through the bush! We will charge to St. Elsewhere!!! Riding on elephant and the thunder of our drums, we will retake my palace, and with it....or Nation!!!!" *His voice boomed like thunder, and shook the very souls of the troops* "We are a nation, of proud African men!!! Forced by many to seek our own Utopia!!! And what did we do? We built or own paradise!!! From the ashes of Africa, rose Abed-Nego!!! The Lion of the Bush!!! We will never back down, nor will we provoke! But fight! Fight to survive! That is who we are!!! We are lions....We...are...ABED-NEGO!!!!" *The drummers began to pound on their drums of wood and animal skin. The soldiers of Shadrach and the alliance applauded in the court ward of his palace. Fueled by his thunder, the readied themselves. As they stormed through the gates of the palace, towards the brush that would lead them to Meshach, the soldiers of Shadrach prepared themselves. Dawning African war-paint, along with their uniforms of dark green camo. Carrying AK-47's, M109's, and several standard grenades. They did this, while some took off on foot. The others, The "Zulu", would ride with thunder. On elephant back, they beheld a frightening force. Black robes, hiding their thick protective padding. Machete hanging at their sides. Zulu do not fight with guns, and do not fear bullets. They move through the grass lands like a scyth, cutting down all in their path. On elephant back however, they rarely need to fight on foot. Protected by iron helmets, dawned with thick iron spike on the tusks and  trunks, the elephant are living tanks. The most aggressive males are taken, and trained to kill only when they hear the "Whisper of Israfel" A word uttered by the the "Zulu" that triggers a berserk reaction in the elephants. They started at sundown. By sun-up, they would reach the Palace at St. Elsewhere. Meshach sat in the palace of Abed-Nego. On the balcony, he muttered to himself as he stared at the horizon. Almost dawn. He cursed Shadrach. Who knew the allies would actually smuggle him out of his captivity? and into Lazarus of all places? A fortress....not even the "Anasazi" would survive. Their specialty is gorilla war. No match for the "Zulu". Meshach stood and slammed his massive hand onto the edge of the balcony as the sun hit the horizon. A reflection in the distance. he recognized it. Steel. Upon the horizon, Meshach stared. A black wave falling over the horizon like a shadow. He stared at it, until it dawned on him. Shadrach was not about to sit in his fortress after all. Much worse. He was planning to take back his Kingdom. By any means necessary. Meshach had not expected this! Shadrach was old! Calm! He was never the type to launch a full-sclae assualt! Who are those charging ahead? The "Zulu"?! Shadrach had summoned the most fearsome fighting force in all the empire!!!! Meshach fell backwards as he radioed his generals* "Wake up.....Wake up you fools!!! Shadrach has come!!!! His army travels as if the Devil himself were nipping at their heels!!!!" *A man responded, and stated in a faltering voice* "Chancellor....Sir, Calm yourself. we can kill any man that come against you! 2,000,000 of our finest Abed-Nego soldiers! We have nothing to fear" *Meshach dropped the radio, bowed his head, and cursed Shadrach under his breath. He came back, and this time, with the thunder of God driving them like a ram through the walls of his Was-to-be Empire*

Generalmajor Baron Hanz von Strau was given the okay to move when the Zulu's began their assault. He would give the Abed-Nego warriors the first taste of battle, it was only right to let them shed first blood. He also realized the target would be the palace and surrounding area. It would not be wise diplomatically to destroy the national buildings of his ally with bombing runs from the bombers. The bombers however, were all equipped with "Smart Bombs" and thus had the accuracy to be fired into the window of a small home. He would get clearance to bomb certain targets, he would also unleash the choppers and fighters in the skies so that none would attempt to shoot the bombers down.

He contacted the emperor on the radio "Your majesty, I have several weapons that would cause massive damage to our enemies, though if they fortify themselves in your palace or the surrounding area we may not wish to fire on them with those. I am talking about howitzers, bombers and missiles. Without those we will be severely crippling our forces. Perhaps there is an area that would be okayed to be fired on."

Tiger UHT attack helicopters followed closely behind the Zulu forces, followed by waves and waves of jeeps, armored personel carriers, and various other armor such as tanks. Christstan had fielded a massive force here for the occasion, but they would not send a small force just for it to be overcome by numbers.

Jet Fighter Typhoons and F-35s and F-23s waited in the base to be called up along with the bombers. With their engines, they could be at the battlefield in a few moments should the rebels attempt to use air power.

Acting General Richards was at the head of his 10,000 man force. The entire Imperial Legion was in Abed-Nego. They marvalled at the Abed-Nego warriors, expecially the Zulu and their war elephants. Even in the 21st century, they're still using war elephants. His army was among the Christstans. Also to add to their firepower, Hind helicopters flew above the army ready to assist, Leopard tanks, M109 self-propelled howiters, and other armor units readyed the Allied forces. They marched closer to the city. Tom could feel the enemy's fear. By the end of today, Ramadon will be arrested and Abed-Nego will belong to Shadrach again.

*Shadrach Lead the charge. He was not unaccustomed to war. Niether were his sons. In Green cerimonal warriors robes. Shadrach radioed in respoonse to General Major Baron Hanz Von Strau* "You will not be disappointed. Meshach is no fool. He will not risk destroying the secrets held within the archives of the Imperial palace". *As the soliders on M109's and T-62's stormed behind the Zulu, those on foot tried to remain as far away from the Zulu as possible. Shadrach smirked, because he was right. Meshach was no fool. He would fight Shadrach head on, giving it all he got. Meshach would also fight on foot, seeing as how he was a traditionalist  and unaccoustomed to airial attacks. Shadrach was a surrealist. He knew how to fight the old way....but that didn't stop him from revolutionizing his military. Mesach's troops, dressed in dark blue camo, charged out of the enormous gates of the Imperial Palace. Shadrach smirked as he radioed back to the General* "......Fire at will...."

When General Strau got the okay to fire he immediately put down his radio phone and looked to his artillery major and gave him a thumbs up. At that moment the radio communication went wild as the choppers radioed in the coordinates for the assault. Once all was set, the Artillery Commander held his hand high and then let it down quickly to signify the okay to fire. Over a hundred howitzers & Missile launchers opened fire and rained in hell on Meshachs troops. The General also gave the okay for bombers and fighters to begin their runs. Meschach's forces would be greeted with a rain of fire from all sorts of weapons, howitzers, bombers, fighters, and the helicopters firing the missiles in their arsenal. Of course the heavy attacks of the howitzers and bombers would stop once allied troops got to close but until then, Meshach would be in for a surprise. The helicopters would tell them when to cease fire.

Once the infantry and tank units got in range, the APCs would swerve so that their side faced the enemy, release the infantry inside and allow them to stand on the side mounted stair on the APC. The tanks would inch forward standing as a wall for the infantry. Helicopters would make passes back and forth relaying enemy troop locations and firing their cannon.

*Meshach Hid behind his troops in the rear. Wearing a dark green generals uniform, decorated with the medals he had won during his days a general of the Abed-Nego army. He rode a great Zebra, draped with black, red, and green cloths and a steel helmet to protect the beast's face. He stared, jaw agape, in awe at the site of his finest troops being slaughtered like wild animals! Bullets, bombs, beasts! Shadrach had thrown everything at Him! And Meshach had held back his best! If he had sent the "Anasazi" in front, they might have taken (or at least preoccupied) the "Zulu" Soldiers. But it was to little to late. The "Zulu" War elephants were the pride of Shadrachs army. They smashed through the troops of Meshach like a hammer. The "Zulu" didn't have to lift a finger. The Gun's of Meshach's army simply ricocheted off the armor of the behemoths. The "Anasazi" remained behind Meshach, as they watched as there brothers were slaughtered like wild boars. The "Anasazi" Were the 2nd to greatest fighting force in the Abed-Nego army. Composed of the biggest, and strongest of the Abed-Nego Males. They carried no weapon other than their fists and brass knuckles, and wore thick padded armor under their green robes to protected themselves from bullets. One Anasazi could take several shots from an AK-47, as well as 2 shots from a Howitzer, and still continue to fight! From birth, children chosen to become "Anasazi" lift a baby boar, never eating anything but the bear minimum (Giving most of there food to the pig) until the pig is grown, and they can lift it up with great ease. Then, they are ordered to bring back the horn of a rhinoceros. This final right of passage will determine the fate of the boy. It's either kill the rhino, or be skewered alive. That is why many of them bore scars over there bodies, but they also carry the horn around there neck. Carved into various animals and religious symbols. "And the "Zulu" were not the only ones who fought with beast and brawn. The "Anasazi" had a frightening force of there own. Boars. Savage, bloodthirsty, stubborn wild boars who refused to die than cease fighting. Painted with white war paint, these boars were as frightening a force as the war elephants. They wore no armor. They were trained to charge straight for the enemy, going for the throat, and while men were easy targets from the sky, a boar is not so easy. Though Meshach was unfamiliar with the use of aerial attacks himself, that did not stop him teaching the boars how to dodge aerial strikes. Meshach held the "Anasazi in the back. As soon as Shadrach's forces broke through the barrier of men, Meshach would unleash the hounds of Hell upon the Scourage of the Lord*

(Yes, I know taking two shots from a Howitzer seems impractical, but I want this war to last as long as possible. So please forgive me for the lack of commonsense and actuality in creating the "Anasazi".)

( They don't have to be able to survive shots from Howitzers, as you said he held them back until the elephants drew near, if the elephants drew near the guns would cease. Also they could be taking cover every so often... )

The boars broke through the lines in front of Tom's Legionaries. He drew a sword-bayonet and a cavalry saber that he always carried with him. The boars rushed the Canadian soldiers. The boars charged for the Canadian lines. The Canadian troops attached sword-bayonets to their guns and lowered them like spears. Tom readied them for the crash. The boars smashed into the Canadian bayonets. The boars in the first lines were killed, but the rest got in. Tom used both bayonet and saber to kill boars. But all around men were being gored. Some Christstans got into the fight. "No, continue into the city! We can hold them here!" The Christstans moved on into the city with the Abed-Negans. The Canadians were soon alone fighting the boars and some Anazasi. Sword, bayonet, and pistol soon were the only weapons that could kill these creatures. Tom soon looked on and hoped this wasn't the end for him or the Imperial Legion.
