Expedition
« on: January 13, 2007, 11:04:31 PM »
An expedition to the North Pole of Taijitu had been established by the Imperial Aristocratic Exploration Order. The following men were in the 7 person group:

Hupprecht Patrick
Radulf Karl
Ewoud Fabian
Tomas Juozapas
Mu Jiang
Georgios Lefteris
Henrik Charalampos

It was more diverse than most Myrorian expedition teams, consisting of only three native Myrorians. The rest were a mix of Baltijans, Gallipoli-Chinese, and Imperials. Given to the team was one small helicopter for their use, several barrels of beer, military rations, and heavy coats. They set up their first camp here:

Day 1, North of Durnia

The IAEO helicopter provided to us arrived today, along with its pilot, a man from King Rat named Henrik Charalampos. My team plans to set out tomorrow northeastward until we reach the Prime Meridian, 900 degrees longitude north. Though my team isn't the first team to reach the North Pole, we are the first Myrorian team to be sent there. I am sure we will be welcomed as heroes once we return. My men are a varied and rugged sort, coming everywhere from Baltija to Gallipoli-China. Georgios, the Gallipoli-Chinese man, is a great navigator and learned man; I have the utmost belief in his abilities. Tomas, the Baltijan, is as fearless and disiplined as any, I am sure he will be a valuable asset in our journey. My assistant, Radulf, has heard the rumours of terrible creatures in the north; huge worms nearly a third of a kilometre long and the sort. I am sure this is just hearsay and rumor; even in the lava vents far out off the northern coast of our continent, the worms rarely reach more than 50 meters long. I hope God will stat with us throughout our journey, and I wish to return home to my wife safely.

Day 5, West of the Central Sea

We found our first sign of leaving the jungle today by seeing a bare tree, finally. Even so, however, there are still few trees to be seen around these area, leading me to believe we are nearing desert. Georgios saw mountains across the desert with his telescope today also, so that could be a hinder in our progress to the Northern Pole.

Day 27, North of the Central Sea

My map given to me by the IASA could not prepare my crew for the immense desert we flew over in our helicopter the past days. Searing heat during the day, blinding cold at night...Luckily we reached the edge of mountains yesterday, and right now our helicopter is on a cliff about halfway up the range. We found a pass through the tall part of the range, and we plan to fly our helicopter through that to spare us from the climb up them. Right now I can compare the temperatures to northern Myroria, but it is still too hot for our jackets. By my next entry I hope to be in the area north of these mountains, where we will be even closer to our goal of reaching the North Pole.

Day 33, North of the Meditaijituan Mountains

We're finally out of the worst part of the mountains; we're now in the foothills. I've affectionately dubbed the mountains we crossed the "Meditaijituan Mountains" because of their central location on this planet. I doubt that's correct Latin, but who's gonna notice?

Ewoud spotted a mount of dirt and some soft ground earlier today; he was quick to blame it on the giant ice worms, but I'm sure it was just some insects or something.

There was no moon out and the area was dark. Fre'zhi brought their Pai'hulu to the lower highlands for it's comfort.

A Fre'zhi by the name of Hao'da zhou. looked up in the high lands and saw a fire with tents all around the fire and a helicopter. Though this one was a larger helicopter. Larger than any Ozian commercial helicopter. He and his 2 sons, 1 daughter, and 1 daughter in law were with him, his wife decided to stay within Ozian borders considering the war and all.

"Zhe'ta zhou, pai'hulu shi'sol, a'su oni'is cha'sol. e've ba'is ev'is lae'sol (Zhe'ta zhou{his youngest son}, watch the pai'hulu, rest come with me. Bring your guns.)"

He himself had an I-19 that he bought but and his sons and daughters had IA-7s. They followed him to where he showed them to follow him. There were many rocks around the camp and they were about 100 yards away from it. The fre'zhi got out his binoculars and looked at what they were doing, they looked like they were eating and trying to get warm.

"e've fai zha cha, Pai'hulu'su'sol" (tell your brother to come here, with a pai'hulu) he whispers softly in the winter breeze. His daughter climbed down and then whe she was far enough she ran down the slope to her brother where she told him the father's command. The son put the ocra to the worms body and began to silently give it commands with it. The Pai'hulu slitthered up the slop but belowthe series of rocks to even be seen.

"xhi pa zha shi'is" (who are they father?) the son whispered.

"Zha's shi hao'hi'sol"

They nodded and jumped onto the pai'hulu's back which was below them. The son commanded it to climb up and go forward towards the camp. When they got closer and closer one of them saw their outline and then saw them perfectly.

"HOLY FUCK!" yelled one of the people at the fire, "ICE DRAGON! YOU ALL THOUGHT I WAS CRAZY!"

Inglish Speakers? he thought

the others dropped their plates of food in shock to get their shotguns.

"Fire!" The men started to shoot their guns at the Pai'hulu.

The Passengers on the Pai'hulu dropped to the other side of the pai'hulu as cover. However Hao'da zhou fired his I-19 in the air.

With the Inglish that he learned in school though he never knew why he learned it, he yelled out. "Stop shooting! It means you know harm!"

His sons and daughters got out of cover and had to calm the Pai'hulu down

The Conquesteur, Hupprecht, calmed his men down.

"Lower your weapons. It's obviously not attacking."

He yelled across the field to where the man and his sons and daughters were.

"We come from a land far to the south of here. Our government sent us to visit the top of the world. They never told us this land was inhabited. Which lands do you belong to?"

"a Dei, shi'is spa'sol."(I'm not of knowing, speak with them daughter) said the father

The daughter came forward, she had just graduated school, was 19 and Inglish was her best class. "Hello, We are of... (thinking of Inglish) Ozia. The Divine Oz or... Saint Oz. The Country of Saint Oz and we are Ozians. We are Fre'zhi," she pointed at the Pai'hulu, "We tame these creatures and fertilize farms. Saint Oz is a massive nation. A Great Intelligent nation. We have many achievements," she then realized something and said to her brother "Call the others back."

He played throughout the wind on his ocra and played the tune of Fre'zhi which called back all Pai'hulu. Suddenly 3 other Pai'hulu slithered across the ice and snow to the other pai'hulu where they stopped and settled. They all spiraled themselves in a nest position.

"How many of those worms are there? Is it a rare animal?" Ewoud asked.

"Excuse my collegue's manners. We are from Myroria, a kingdom near the south pole. We aren't a large nation compared to others', but every Myrorian is proud of our achievements, like how we put a man on Selene. May I ask for directions to your capital? I believe it would be good for our team to find a country completely unknown to us, along with finding the North Pole."

"Well, we're really far away from the Capital. Two days stride on Pai'hulu, we can show you the way if you want. We're not really going anywhere tonight and tomorrow though. As for your comrades question, these are not rare at all. Anyway, you're going to be disappointed to know Res'shev, our government, doesn't let anyone go to the North Pole during the winter months. It is too dangerous considering it is in Constant night fall and there's many blizzards and such at this time. It is at its coldest ever. Though I'm sure you could get an apartment or something, though I doubt they'll accept any of your currencies. Do you all mind if we sleep here tonight?" said the 19 year old daughter.

"Very well. When will there be a time to go to the capital? If we cannot go to the north pole this time of year, it seems best that we at least discover something new for back home."

The Next Morning
The younger son started to play his Ocra, they all took off their Ushankas before they started. The two women with them started to dance the sacred dance of Gaea which they learned in school. The Fre'zhi man was in the middle and the oldest son was behind him with a knife. The father knelled down on his knees and bowed. The two women stopped dancing fluid like and then bowed. The youngest son blew softly on the ocra and played a mellow tune. The oldest son brought the blade to the father. He took the blade and put his hand at the bottom of the blade tip he then drew it across his palm and blood started to drip on the snow and ice. He then gave the blade back to the son and he put his bloody hand on the ground.

He sustained his Prayers loudly and started to recite the verses.

At the end he pulled back his hand which was red and freezing. He wrapped cloth around the left hand and the two women got up. They put on their regular clothes in the yurt and then came back outside. The family started to pack up their yurt but the Daughter stayed by the Pai'hulu and examined its teeth for any weak ones

The Conquesteur turned to his wide-eyed men.

"Shut up," he whispered.

"We don't want to offend the person letting us stay a whole winter out in their capital."

He turned away from his men and to the Ozians that were ready to go by now.

"Ok, lead on."

"We have room to put your stuff on our other Pai'hulu." said the daughter, "And if you'd like to hop onto the pai'hulu we can get to the capital in a matter of days or so." She was a bit confused about their faces though.
