Are they actually doing it?

Probably not.

Probably not.

I thought they were. It would cost around 5/10 dollars a month, would it not? I don't know if what I've read on the NationStates forums is fact or speculation.

It's speculation.  They've been talking about this for over a year, and nothing's ever come of it.

The rate they're going, and considering my age, I doubt that I'll still be around when they release NS2.   ;)

NS2 is dead in the water. If they had invested and developed when they first came up with the idea, they would have had a winner. The market at the moment is saturated with pay-to-play games.

Too late, even if there was the will to do it.

I agree with those who wouldn't shell out to play another version of NS, if they ever managed to get it through the works which is highly doubtful.  Honestly, 93% of the reason I'm playing the game right now is for the community we have here in Taijitu.  The actual gameplay wouldn't have kept me around for more than a month or so, so a re-vamped version lacks appeal in my personal opinion.

Yeah, I really don't think this whole NS2 thing is going to happen. They were talking about it back when I had my other nation some years ago. That nation long since rotted by the current stage of NS2's development seems eternal
