I figured it wouldn't hurt to start a book suggestion thread (how literary of me, I know, I know). But at least this way we can recommend good books to one another.
Earlier this month I finished Amy Tan's latest novel,
Saving Fish from Drowning. I would give it a 9 out of 10, which is pretty much expected from an author like Amy Tan. It has a reasonably fascinating story line, and Amy Tan is absolutely excellent when it comes to sharing a whole new perspective.
Saving Fish from Drowning is a really good page turner, and I enjoy the fact that Tan likes to introduce fancier vocabulary through context clues. It's about 475 pages, and it's about what happens to several different American tourists who get kidnapped in the jungles of Mynamar (aka, Burma). If you have the time, I would suggest you read it.
Any other suggestions out there? Give it a rating, why it got that rating, and whether you recommend it or not. And try to keep the summary of the book down to one line, to keep things interesting.
