Insight Into Taijitu: Interview With Sovereign Dixie

From left to right, Sovereign Dixie, PoD Gunner, Eluvatar and North Pacifican journalist look on disgusted as Insane Power exposes himself

Moma Khab's Cavern, Taijitu: After a long, tiring day reporting on various bills in the Taijitu Senate, I retreated to a bar to sooth my sorrows. Halfway through my second beer, to my surprise I noticed I was sitting next to the Taijituan Delegate, Sovereign Dixie. He gave me a hearty pat on the back, and ever the opportunist, I got out my notepad and pen and got interviewing.

The first question I asked was how Taijitu had become so successful in such a short time, with no hesitation he answered: 'The brilliance, dedication, and determination of it's members.' And so what has been the greatest accomplishment of his Delegacy? 'I myself, didnt achieve much, really. I was simply in the right place, at the right time, and most importantly, with the right group of players. During my first delegacy we pretty much set up every insitution in place currently in Taijitu, and that period seen all NS recruitment records shattered, I was very proud of all involved, and still am. I was becoming impressed with the modesty and quiet determination of this man, especially since he was going on his fourth beer.

I move on to ask about the direction of Taijitu foreign policy, Dixie thinks for a moment, 'No matter what form future governments in Taijitu take, I could easily see it being even more massive than it is already, and one of the core regions of the game.' With a smile he adds: 'Perhaps even rivaling feeders in size and relevance'. Intrigued, I ask about current relations with The Pacific regions. He nods, 'Well getting better, we've always enjoyed good solid relations with TNP, and TWP has recently become a valued friend of our region as well. We have cordial and stable relations with TP and no animosities with the other feeders.' Will Taijitu be taking a more aggressive line internationally? 'I think that largely depends on who's running the show. Stronger, I think most likely, aggressive, not so much, I don't think.'

As the night is beginning to grow old, finally we start discussing the darker, Lexiconian past of Taijitu. I ask whether Taijitu ever faces negativity on account of the actions of The Lexicon, 'That's one thing that I was surprised about, really, in that other regions never really seemed to view us, or expect us, to be like The Lexicon, at least not in so much as I am aware.' Interesting, I enquire as to whether there are still old wounds from the split. 'Well, we don't have any internal "fighting" per se, there is an element of friction at times, but then again, that's a part of any government, and especially vital in a game environment, as it helps to keep things interesting.' Nodding in agreement, I thank him, drain my Loopian ale and head out into the street.

This format is a bit annoying.  I would rather it be in a classic interview style so I could read it with ease and read what is interesting.

Maybe, but I find it boring to both write and read.

My readers seem to prefer this style anyway.

I enjoyed it!  My only complaint is that my work computer doesn't like pictures, but I got to see it from home earlier.  :)

I liked it, and the style is called Gonzo journalism. (read anything by Hunter S Thompson) :)

Very well done, Matt!  Entertaining and informative; I agree that question-answer style interviews are incredibly dull and often over-done.

This has boosted an idea in my mind: A regional newspaper. There is one in TNP and it seems to work pretty well.

Previous attempts at a newspaper here have failed.  But the Community Office is making plans to offer a variety of news.  It just may not end up being put out in newspaper format.  We've opened a thread there in the hopes that people will be interested enough to post their thoughts and suggestions.  Speaking of which, we've also started a News Flashes thread there too, where we'll put any news of note as it happens, and we encourage everyone to post any newsy tidbits there too!   :)

SDixie a raging alcoholic, PoD Gunner a tall black man, Eluvatar a guy who hangs out with them and works with them, and EM a large bald man who also suffers from alcoholism? Are you sure this isn't an biography and not just a made news article?  :-P

Just Kidding!  Very nice job Matt!

Just in case anyone missed the announcement, Durnia's generously agreed to help supply us with news articles!  Be sure to peek at the Community Office now and then, because that's where they'll be.
