I hate to say it, but I'm not really surprised.  Alabama's government doesn't exactly have a good track record.  Not to mention the fact that we're dealing with politicians here.  What can I say?  It's what they do.

Okay, pass me the signup sheet too.

This is exactly WHY I support the US Second Amendment.  I may be a Demi-Socialist, and I may favor individual rights and freedoms, I AM NOT a terrorist.

Isn't Alabama the state where they persecuted non-WASPs until the 1960s?  And still have cross-burnings sometimes?

I'm Canadian,   apparently that automatically qualifies me as a terrorist.   but then we did burn down the white house that one time, i guess the us government is still a bit sore about that.

Technically it was the British,  but that's not the point.  well if I'm a terrorist i may as well act like it.   look at me! i disagree!

Now, Naur, if you're going to act like a terrorist, then you have to wave some guns or bombs or something when you say that.  Otherwise, you're hardly trying.

Does wearing belts of m13 desintegrating links and dummy 7,62mm MG rounds around the neck count then?

Music is the key to the heart.

"Once art to me was something far off, unfathomable and unreachable... But I discovered that the real essence of art was not something high up and far off, it was right inside my ordinary daily self. If a musician wants to be a fine artist, he must first become a finer person. A work of art is the expression of a person's whole personality, sensibility, and ability." -Shinichi Suzuki

Honestly, it is pretty evident that Alabama just did a poor job of explaining what they see as terrorists. I don't think they intend to claim that your average Libertarian is a terrorist. More of the type that advocates the violent removal of the government as was popular with the militia movement in th 1990s.

Oh yes, Empire, I'm sure it does.  Well done.

And Stillwaters - you're making the assumption that these politicians are reasonable, intelligent, and well-intentioned people.  That's a bit much to expect from a state government with their track record.

well if you remember the US government has a record for doing just that, they used to lock up all communists and anarchist. why not add libertarians and any other thinking people to the list?

Regarding anarchism and communism, I'd like to bring up an interesting point:

ANARCHO-COMMUNISM.
Yes it exists.
Definition: "advocates the abolition of the State and capitalism in favor of a horizontal network of voluntary associations, workers' councils and/or commons through which everyone will be free to satisfy their needs".

So, even though they are polar opposites, Anarchism can be reconciled with Communism in a certain sense.
Just thought I'd bring that up.
"From each, according to his abilities, to each, according to his needs".

Remember what happened to John Lennon?  Such a danger to society, eh?  Make love not war and all that.  That's what free speech gets you.  People start thinking for themselves.  That's a slippery slope, my friend, that only leads to them giving the politicians trouble.  Just can't have that, now, can we?
