Taijitu University
« on: July 18, 2007, 05:51:09 PM »
I just remembered something another region had done, and that something was a university.

Basically, people would sign up as professors of some class (Algebra, French 101, World History, etc and even NS related topics like raiding, Taijitu's history, etc...) and post lectures atleast monthly. People can sign up to be students for any of the classes, and then can participate in discussions and ask questions about the lecture. Heck, maybe the profs could even give out some homework  ;)

And after completing a certain number of courses, students would get a degree which would then be added to their inventory on the forum.

Also with this, I think an Education Ministry should be created, and the minister of said ministry would basically act as the university's dean.

Oh, and I didn't really know where to post this... But I figured this was as good a spot as any.

The Community Office seems a fine place for something like this, I say!

I would be interested in participating in a Taijitu University project, personally.  Dibs on Cultural Anthropology 101!

this is a good idea. we have had that in my first native region (long time ago) and I know of some other. If there's a will for activity, this could be a wonderful project.

Is this going to be serious education (like the classes you mentioned) or more of a fun thing (like the History of Mind Altering Substances)?  Either way, I would love to have a Taijitu's History class to enroll in.
"I believe every single person is extraordinary. The tragedy is that we
have a society where too many people never get to fulfill that
extraordinary potential. My view – the liberal view – is that
government’s job is to help them to do it. Not to tell people how to
live their lives. But to make their choices possible, to release their
potential, no matter who they are. The way to do that is to take power away from those who hoard it. To challenge vested interests. To break down privilege. To clear out the bottlenecks in our society that block opportunity and block progress. And so give everyone a chance to live the life they want." - Nick Clegg, Leader of the Liberal Democrats and Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

Serious as education gets. Question all authority and all that jazz.

Could this be combined with the literature sub-forum idea?
