Eluvator for Senatar
« on: June 21, 2010, 08:46:10 PM »
I am [nation]Eluvatar[/nation] and I am running for Senator.

I believe I am competent, and I believe in the principles of freedom and democracy that I hope to help rebuild Taijitu on.

Please ask me questions. I hope we can resume the old Taijitu tradition of intensively questioning Senate candidates.

what do you plan to acccomplish as a senator?
did you notice my spelling error?
what is your level of love for me? for taijitu?
quote some venture brothers for me.
coffee or tea?
favorite color? three words describing that color.
favorite animal? three words describing that color.
a type of body of water? three words describing that body of water type.
three words desribing how you would feel being trapped in an all white room with a bright light in the center.
which senators are intelligent?
what proposals will you make as a senator?
what are the best chemicals?
What have you done for Taijitu?
What is your favourite part of Taijitu?
Are there any improvements you would like to make to Taijitu?
Why did you chose your particular avatar?

I plan to establish a code of law covering criminal law, due process, governance, foreign relations, and economics. I also plan to establish Senate procedures. I do intend to seek help and consult with others, of course.
I noticed that you spelled accomplish with three Cs.
I adore you and Taijitu.
"He's a supervillain and a lawyer! That's like a shark with a grenade launcher on its head!"
Tea!
Blue. Cool light brilliance.
Hare. Quick cute fluffiness.
Lagoon. Shielded coral bay.
Calm, pensively ruminating.
As there are no senators, all of them and none of them.
As I said earlier, laws to govern what is forbidden, how the government works and establishing a new monetary system, as well as procedures to govern the Senate.
The best chemicals are the amino acids which make up all known life.
I have established the Taijitu forum, the Taijitu wiki, reestablished them, devised the original Toaster, designed Toaster2 (and hopefully will complete 1.0 tonight?), contributed to debate over our governance, operated the Ministry of Regional Security, et cetera, et cetera.
My favourite part of Taijitu is the membership.
I would like to get more members :)
I chose my avatar because I used it in a special thread of personal importance to one of our members back in the Lexicon, and then it gradually became simply my online identity avatar.

What was your favorite part of drafting the new Constitution?  What, if anything, would you have done differently if you could?

What's the ETA on Toaster2?  Do questions like this bug you?  If so, how much?

Have you seen any good movies lately?  Read any good books?  If so, what were they?  If not, why not?

How charismatic, really, is Nick Clegg?  He doesn't exactly push my buttons.

Why is it so hard to think of questions off the top of your head?  Can you recommend any courses, preferably free and online, that would help one improve one's interviewing skills?

Do you consider giving the Speaker the power to break legislative ties, in addition to their normal vote as a senator, constitutional or unconstitutional? Explain.

Am I still a justice, or do I have to be re-nominated and re-confirmed? Chief justice?

Are you aware that there is only one A in the word "Senator"?

How many of these questions are sincere?

Did you notice the broken markup coding in your reply to PUR?

Given that the constitution requires a majority to pass legislation, it probably isn't constitutional for legislation. It would however be entirely constitutional for Senate procedures, in my opinion.

I believe that while you can be treated as an interim justice for lack of an extant court, you should be re-nominated and re-confirmed.

I am aware. There is also no o in Eluvatar.

Three.

I did not.

What was your favorite part of drafting the new Constitution?  What, if anything, would you have done differently if you could?

I liked pretty much all of it, and at least right now I think it's pretty much perfect. I would have coded Toaster2 faster.

What's the ETA on Toaster2?  Do questions like this bug you?  If so, how much?

The ETA is sometime this week.

Have you seen any good movies lately?  Read any good books?  If so, what were they?  If not, why not?

I have seen Avatar recently. While it isn't good by some measures, it is a masterpiece of imagery. I have read On the Social Contract recently. It was interesting, and parts of Rousseau's thought were amusing. I was surprised to learn that he thought it appropriate to exile atheists for atheism because it apparently would lead them not to contribute to society.

How charismatic, really, is Nick Clegg?  He doesn't exactly push my buttons.

Nick Clegg is a nice looking fellow. I haven't actually heard him speak so I don't know how charismatic he is.

Why is it so hard to think of questions off the top of your head?  Can you recommend any courses, preferably free and online, that would help one improve one's interviewing skills?

It's hard to think of anything under pressure. I suppose internet courses in journalism would help quickly come up with questions as a side-effect.

1. How will you discourage decay of the Taijituan community?

2. Discuss John Rawl's 'veil of ignorance' approach to considering morality in a society. In what ways is this method of describing morality problematic?

3. Define religion, and science. Are the two irreconcilable?

4. Do you think that P=NP, that P\neq NP, or that the problem is undecidable? Explain your reasoning.

5. Let L be the set of all lines in the plane, R^2. Does there exist a subset X of the plane that intersects every element of L exactly twice. Alternatively, you may instead prove that Tiax > All.

6. Is Wast already getting lazy in asking questions? Is it possible for Wast to avoid self-reference in writing such questions?

*tickles Elvish* ahem, pardon.

1. You used the concept "pensively" in your answer to Brother Neil of the Pha Congregation. Now, Beavis & Butthead would have quickly replied "omg you said penis". Instead I want to ask you: do you think the Senate should attempt to assume a more active role in making sure that the delegate and his cabinet will be dealing according to the will of the people than it has done before in the past of Taijitu?
2. What will we be needing a Senate for anyways if the Constitution is perfect?
3. Will you design or import new cool group badges?
4. What do you think about awarding a Senator seat to the Congregation of Pha?
5. A newly ordained priest is nervous about hearing confessions and asks an older priest to observe one of his sessions to give him some tips. After a few minutes of listening, the old priest suggests that they have a word. “I’ve got a few suggestions,” he says. “Try folding your arms over your chest and rub your chin with one hand.” The new priest tries this. “Very good,” says his senior. “Now try saying things like 'I see', 'I understand' and 'Yes, go on.'” The younger priest practises these sayings, too. “Well done,” says the older priest. “Don't you think that's better than slapping your knee and saying: “No way! What happened next?” Which priest are you?
6. Do you think I should be a Senator?
7. If so, will you cheat-vote for me when I'm in the lobby smoking or chasing kor who was wearing a pink fluffy kilt?
8. Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn't seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy whips out his phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps, "My friend is dead! What can I do?". The operator says "Calm down. I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead." There is a silence, then a shot is heard. Back on the phone, the guy says "OK, now what?" Which hunter are you?
9. What is your favorite pie flavor?
10.  Do you like circus?

NOOOOO! You can answer the second part of the question instead. It is more important.
