Hello! Some of you may know me from the chat, but I've officially been appointed ambassador here from Canada. With that in mind, I'd like to present a special report.

Special Report from Canada

Aug 7, 2007
Prepared by: Almonaster

Forum (21,030 posts) - Wiki

Population: 192 nations
Delegate: Carbanousa (66 endorsements)

What’s Happening?

At the Autumn elections, only 3 candidates stood for office. Two of these subsequently left. We therefore have only 1 properly elected Cabinet member, Rock-Onia. Our delegate has also been inactive recently due to moving house, which means that in the best Canadian tradition, the country is being run by the Minister of Doughnuts and Beer!

Yountung has been appointed as deputy MoDB, and Almonaster has remained in office to caretake the MoD slot and provide forum Admin cover.

A group of concerned citizens are attempting to help carry on the business of the region and restore proper government. We particularly welcome the return of one of our former cabinet ministers Hudson Bay to active membership.

The Current Cabinet Under Emergency VoC's:

PM: Carbanousa
MoRA: Almonaster
MoFA: Old Ogastein
MoJ: Youngtung
MoD: Lady Sammi
MoDB: Rock Onia

Call for Help
Any former Canadians, friends, or other volunteers who would like to help rebuild the region will be welcomed with open arms.

Status of diplomatic relations.
We very much value our friendship with other regions, and do not wish to break it off, but under the circumstances internal affairs must take priority. We cannot therefore maintain a proper diplomatic service at present. Embassies in Canada will remain open, but enquiries may not receive proper attention.

We hope you will understand, and bear with us until we can get back on our feet.

Congratulations on your new post, Sammi!  Of course internal affairs must take precedence at a time like this.  Here's hoping the transition will go smoothly and without a hitch.

Now, why don't WE have a Minister of Doughnuts and Beer??  Wouldn't that make for happy citizens!

Hello. Remember us?

Here's the latest:

Report from Canada

February 19, 2008
Prepared by: Almonaster

Forum (29,009 posts)

Population: 224 nations
Delegate: Parrrrtay (60 endorsements)

Reports have been a little patchy for a while, and this issue may well cover some news you have already heard from your local ambassador.  We felt it was better to err on the side of full coverage, rather than risk leaving some of you in the dark.

Domestic News

Winter Elections
In a very poor turnout, the new cabinet were elected, mostly unopposed.
  • Justice: Boreal Tundra
  • Regional Affairs: Old Ogastein
  • Defence: Youngtung
  • Foreign Affairs:  - vacant
  • Doughnuts & Beer: Rock-Onia
New Delegate

Our long-standing and highly-respected delegate Carbanousa had been declining in activity, and after a long silence, Almonaster declared himself as a candidate for delegate.  Higsantium (briefly), Old Ogastein and Parrrrtay joined the contest, and Parrrtay emerged as the runaway winner. The contest period also saw the welcome return of a number of notable Canadian citizens who had previously left the region.

Following the delegacy change, a concerted effort was made to fill the cabinet posts, and the following were added to the roster after passing Votes of Confidence from the region:
  • Minister of Foreign Affairs: Almonaster
  • Deputy PM: Ess
  • Deputy MoJ: Kyleslavia
  • Deputy MoRA: Redundancies
  • Deputy MoD: Higsantium
  • Deputy MoFA: Blackshear
  • Deputy MoDB: Farfel the Dog
This gave us our first full cabinet in nearly a year.

Forum Activity
The forums are once again thriving, with a daily post rate holding steady in excess of the surge of interest which came from our new forums last year.  We even had enough interest to feel the need for a Role-Play co-ordinator, and Mirahge has been appointed to the position.

Old Ogastein has initiated a series of changes to the forum layout, some of which have already been implemented, and others yet to come. These have met with general approval. First up was the addition of a Real Life Entertainment Section. Why not stop by & check it out?

Missing in Action
Our MoDB and resident guitar nut, Rock-Onia failed to report for cabinet duties, and we reluctantly moved to dismiss him. This was the first case brought under the ministerial impeachment legislation, and showed that the mechanism was workable. Fortunately Rock-Onia returned in time to save his job, having had computer and RL problems in the meantime.

Political issues
There have been several interesting debates in the House of Commons, concerning a variety of potential government reforms, notably the separation of executive and legislative branches of government. Recent arrival Fin has been particularly prominent in this area.

Foreign Affairs

New Embassies
Canada is delighted to announce that we have agreed to formal exchanges of Ambassadors with Europeia, and with The Exodus. We welcome the opportunity to deepen our ties with these regions and with our existing friends abroad.

New ambassadors
We have been pleased to receive visits from a number of regions, and were glad to welcome to our boards...
  • Porcu - Ambasssador from Hyrule
  • Sir Dingle Foot - Ambassador - Great Britain and Ireland
  • Cordova I - then Foreign Secretary of Europeia.
  • Oodge - Representative for the Exodus and Fedaration of Allied States
  • Pez201 - Ambassador and new Foreign Secretary, Europeia.
  • Rykkland - Prime Minister of The Last Kingdom
Embassy Closure
In view of recent events in The North Pacific where Westwind / Lewis and Clark is holding power outwith the terms of their constitution, we have regretfully decided to break diplomatic ties. We wish the people of The North Pacific well, and hope that they will find a way to reconcile their differences and return to stable constitutional rule.

On the Lighter Side

We have an extensive list of games in the Arcade - why not drop by and see if you can challenge our high scores?

Our General RP area is currently hosting a game of "Stranded". Will the forumites survive on a desert island with only their wits and a few useful items? Time will tell.

Spring Election News

With an excellent voter turnout, Cabinet was elected.
  • Minister of Regional Affairs: Old Ogastein
  • Minister of Defence: Almonaster
  • Minister of Foreign Affairs: Fin
  • Minister of Justice: Kyleslavia
  • Minister of Doughnuts and Beer: Ess
  • Deputy Prime Minister: Blackshear
  • Deputy Minister of Regional Affairs: Mirahge
  • Deputy Minister of Defence: DragonForce
  • Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs: Cameron of Lochiel
  • Deputy Minister of Justice: Rock-Onia
  • Deputy Minister of Doughnuts and Beer: Rylvan
Foreign Affairs

bweezy ran for Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs but due to the voting outcome during the election process he resigned.
Quote from: bweezy
1/3 of the region thought that no DMOFA was better than me. Following in the tradition of Joe Clark (former Prime Minister of the Country of Canada and Conservative Party Leader), I chose to see that as a sign that I do not have the required approval of the region to continue as Deputy. Hopefully, a new candidate will emerge, who will receive the requisite approval of the region.
Due to bweezy's resignation Fin posted a request for another citizen to step up and become the next Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. Cameron of Lochiel requested the position and the region approved his request. Fin has also, in a short time, managed to fill all foreign ambassador positions.  GO FIN!

Political News

Constitutional Amendments
The following Constitution Amendments were passed.
    1. MoRA Voters Roll Amendment
    2. Member to Citizen Amendment
    3. Voter Registration Amendment
    4. Changing UN to WA

In the House of Commons citizens were discussing
Political Parties, CNCanada Recruitment Video, and the possible addition of an Abstain Bill Process.

Canada has a Newspaper!

Fin had an idea, "Let's make a newspaper," and on March 11, 2008, the first edition of the The Moose was published.
The Moose is a new national paper for NS Canada, now up to it's fourth edition and running strong. It is released fortnightly on Sundays, and the latest edition can be found here.

Time for Fun

The Minister of Doughnuts and Beer forum has a couple of new games:  The Bigger Picture and  Caption It!; as well as an interesting thread called Canadiana -  Neil Young is the latest entry.  The Banner Poll for the Arcade Weekly Game Winner banner contest is now over and almonaster won. The weekly game competition has begun and ends Wed. Apr. 23. - can you be the best of the week??
