Poetry Contest
« on: May 04, 2008, 10:11:14 PM »
I am hereby initiating a poetry contest. Please, write and post your poetry. Angst-ridden free verse is preferable; Limericks and Haikus are not to be submitted.  Project the emptiness of your soul into the equally vacuous blackness of the universe (or write something else <_<).

Are you just looking for free lyrics for your next song? ^_^

If you strike a thorn or rose,
Keep a-goin'!
If it hails or if it snows,
Keep a-goin'!
'Taint no use to sit an' whine
When the fish ain't on your line;
Bait your hook an' keep a-tryin'--
Keep a-goin'!

Desiccated
Empty husk
Died a hundred years ago
Crawling towards a mirage of your love
Through a Sahara of your own creation

Putrefying
Exploded whale
Hunks come raining down
Littering the beach of our lives
Could this not have been foreseen?

Turgid
Torpid, Languid
Stagnant;
Synonyms of life
Tangled in the kudzu of you
If you strike a thorn or rose,
Keep a-goin'!
If it hails or if it snows,
Keep a-goin'!
'Taint no use to sit an' whine
When the fish ain't on your line;
Bait your hook an' keep a-tryin'--
Keep a-goin'!

Let those who are guilty run free
And let those who are guilty be crucified
Which side should I support?
Not entirely sure, they’re all the same
Every one of those fat whores

I mend the dying ground
But it still cracks uncontrollably
As the levee falls, the water comes
Washes out the valley, leaving nothing behind
This is where it all began

Blue slowly changes into red
Anger, fear, desperation, isolation

I am the last thing alive
But yet, I am not alone
The widespread gas of death poisons my blood
Leaving me weak, hopeless, and disturbed
And I have one thing left to say
Fuck the West and the East

If Fox News is fair and balanced as they claim, then the Great War is actually a bad hallucination invented by Mickey Mouse.

Sounds like something from a Nirvana song.

Neither did I, before someone revived it. I like that in 3 years two entries have been submitted. I feel like I had some purpose for this thread, but I don't quite remember what. There is one possibility, but I'll let that remain secret for now.

Why must it remain a secret?

So I can use it for another thread. Why, don't you like my surprises?

If I remember correctly, that's what she said.
