Heavy Rain and Mirror's Edge
« on: March 07, 2008, 03:53:38 AM »
These are two games that have really piqued my interest.  Both seem quite original and I can't wait for more info.

Heavy Rain's Wikipedia Page: Specifically, this image from The Casting, a tech demo using Heavy Rain's engine, amazes me.

And here is the entire amazing video, The Casting.

Heavy Rain is a spiritual successor to Indigo Prophecy, by the way, if anyone remembers that game.

And Mirror's Edge is a first-person game using the actual person and a parkour/free running style as the basis for the game.

Here's Mirror's Edge's Wikipedia Page: I love this style.  PLAY Magazine has an amazing cover article on the game, by the way.  Go read it...or you can read this article instead...but you really need to read the magazine article.  It has an interview and pictures and it's very well done.

And here are some pictures for Mirror's Edge.

"I believe every single person is extraordinary. The tragedy is that we
have a society where too many people never get to fulfill that
extraordinary potential. My view – the liberal view – is that
government’s job is to help them to do it. Not to tell people how to
live their lives. But to make their choices possible, to release their
potential, no matter who they are. The way to do that is to take power away from those who hoard it. To challenge vested interests. To break down privilege. To clear out the bottlenecks in our society that block opportunity and block progress. And so give everyone a chance to live the life they want." - Nick Clegg, Leader of the Liberal Democrats and Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom
