Have you ever skipped school/work for a game?
« on: September 27, 2007, 10:31:20 AM »
Has anyone ever called in sick to work or skipped school to play a video game?

I've only ever done this once for Final Fantasy Online, ironically the install and initial patch time was so insanely long that by the time I was finally able to log in and play the game my shift would have been over.

I think I might take a day or two off when Spore finally comes out, when that happens you'll probably notice a sharp decline in the number of my posts because I first found out about this game in early 2005.... and I've been waiting ever since... through all the delays.... now they say March/April '08.... We'll see though. If they delay it again I think Will Wright is probably going to be lynched by an angry mob and you can rest assured I'll be there with my torch, my pitchfork and my unfettered rage.

When Neverwinter Nights came out I was still in high school, so when I finally got it I faked sick one day so I could stay home and play.  I didn't need much of a reason to decide to fake it back then, but it counts.  ^_^

My mother wouldn't fall for that.  I'd have to buy the game and somehow convince her that, the next day, I was "sick".  But I'd do it for Metal Gear Solid 4, and probably for Burnout Paradise and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
"I believe every single person is extraordinary. The tragedy is that we
have a society where too many people never get to fulfill that
extraordinary potential. My view – the liberal view – is that
government’s job is to help them to do it. Not to tell people how to
live their lives. But to make their choices possible, to release their
potential, no matter who they are. The way to do that is to take power away from those who hoard it. To challenge vested interests. To break down privilege. To clear out the bottlenecks in our society that block opportunity and block progress. And so give everyone a chance to live the life they want." - Nick Clegg, Leader of the Liberal Democrats and Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

One time there was going to be a Massive Starcraft Tournament on the Ladder section and I faked sick very well for it. It was awesome because I was home alone and both my parents worked.

I don't think I've ever played about 12 hours of Starcraft since then though...
