A few rules I would like to see.
« on: September 26, 2007, 03:26:56 AM »
I won't lie, I love forums.  I go on forums almost every day to talk about various types of interests I have.  One thing I do value is the special interests forums like the ones we just got.  When seperated from general, most of the time a community within a community tends to occur, however for that truly to flurish, I think we need a few basic but simple ground rules.

1) This is not a general/spam forum.  If your post is off topic and or brings no worth it should be deleted.
2) Multiple topics suck and should be treated like spam.
3) If someone created a thread, they have an interest in the topic, don't hijack a thread with something unrelated,
4) I personally don't mind swearing that much, but no racial slurs please.
5) People should post up to our level, we should not have to post down to theirs.

Of course my word has little merit, or value unless you all take it with value.  (Aka, nothing I say is official, yet  :P)

So what do you think?

I think this is an attempt to infringe upon my constitutionally protected right to free speech

I think you have the right idea, but a little too extreme on some things.

No, its a ways to keep problems to a minimum and keeping the server clear of a lot of junk.  Except in rare instances, we don't need multiple threads or spam.  While freedom of speech is protected by the US Constitution, it doesn't absolve someone of acting irresponsibly.

*couf* anyway, it would be a pity to see Arts and Entertainment filled with Spam, but that's why it has 'Entertainment' in it.

Any chance of getting an internet child board. I'd like to be able to discuss things like homestarrunner.com, willitblend.com, facebook, BBS systems, MUDs and whatnot but it doesn't really fit into any of the other child boards.
