More RP Moderation Polling
« on: April 05, 2007, 08:52:09 PM »
Most of us have at this point agreed, I think, that the RP Council has failed to really work. I was willing to give the idea a chance, but it has not provene functional.

I worry about the idea of directly elected RP moderators, mostly because one could have a tyranny of the majority where the majority of the Role Players may form a faction that then uses moderation to bully the other half. It is a wise aspect of government that it often removes somewhat arbiters and executors from the people.

My initial choice would have been to drop it in the hands of the Delegate's Executive Government because generally we have in this forum followed the structure where it is the government that has administrative (and thus also moderation) privileges.

Talking to Pragmia though, he gave me the idea of putting it into the hands of the body we have selected to perform arbitration and judge without favoritism-- the Supreme Court. We could have the Supreme Court Justices have the power to arbitrate in RP disputes without a full trial-- the decisions of 1 justice could then be appealed to the whole Court.

Why am I putting this out there when someone already started a vote on RP moderators? Mostly because I think before we leap to something, we should take a good long think.

In reality this would also have to be accepted by the Senate in my opinion, unless I suppose we go with option 5, but I think it's important that this be discussed by the RPers first, before we go to the Senate.

We'd had a think; we had a thread about it, and we had come to a basic consensus that three elected moderators would be an acceptable system.

I went and looked at the thread. I guess I won't argue that.

Should I close this then?
