Title: Major Issue
Post by: Eluvatar on July 02, 2007, 02:50:25 AM
Under the current system, elections for the August term (of Delegacy) will begin on schedule; nominations begin the 10th.

This is rather ridiculous.

Therefore I believe it is imperative that we make a motion to suspend the rules, add a special provision to the Procedures, or something.

Well, I am not sure if we can suspend the elections, but what we can do is implement the changes necessary to prevent this situation from ever arising again. That would seem a more prudent course of action.

The two subjects are independent.

No, because dealing with this problem now is worthless if we don't learn from the experience and instate the necessary changes to prevent a repeat of this.

I kinda agree with Prag on this one, Seeing that this doesn't happen again is more important than if we have an election sooner than we'd thought. Hell, is it even possible to suspend the rules? If we do that, we'll still end up out of whack, cause we'll have a 4 month term. People voted in this thinking it was merely to finish out the term, if we turn and give 'em something different, I don't think it would look very good. I say let it ride.
