I'm proposing this name set for the continents. There will be supercontinents in bold, then under it will be listed the subcontinents.
Arda
Myroria-Eluvatar Subcontinent
The Ardese Isles (TGR, Morthia, etc.)
Oceania
Meditaijitu
North Taijitu (Saint Oz, Tallmann, etc.)
The Isthmus of Bustia
South Taijitu (DSA, Sovereign Dixie, etc.)
West Taijitu (Annexea, etc.)
Orientalia (pronounced Or-ee-n-tahl-ee-a)
The Inglish Isles (Inglo-Scotia, Whereamistan)
Orientalia Minor (Ryazania, Xyrael, etc.)
So what do you guys think? Suggestions, constructive criticism?
-
More original names would be nice. I'm all out of creativity juice at the moment, though.
-
Maybe the names could be themed around mythology or something inkeeping with the region name?
-
Arda=Supermythological
-
Can I be my own subcontinent? Middle Meditaijitu? ;)
-
You can be like Central America: A political division, not a continent.
-
The Orient borrows too much from Earth.
-
Why is Myroria naming all of this? Perhaps the nations of each continent should name their continent. So Eluvatar Myroria can name their island place and everyone around where I am name the continent we live on. Instead of always having these silly names.
-
Indeed.
-
But what happens when there's a bunch of people on one continent and they can't decide?
-
Since almost noone on my continent RPs a lot, I proclaim my continent Easteros.
-
I was planning on having on country on that continent and RPing once I got 30 posts...
EDIT: Speaking of 30 posts...
-
At least consult Acle when he comes bach from vacation, and PUR's here sometimes.
Personally, I think that what Myroria's called "north Taijitu" should be two coninents (a map of tectonic plates would be nice), similar in relationship to Europe and Asia.
-
you silly people thats what polls are for, invite and lock in all RP members of continent in question and ask them to vote.
-
You can be like Central America: A political division, not a continent.
That works.
-
I propose for people on my continent, D'nesia, Denesia or Dienesia though I like D'nesia better...
(If you have colonization on the continent that doesn't count.)
-
Well, the Mor'osi word for that landmass which it occupies as a whole is simply O.
-
Mor'osi sounds like a simple language.
-
Hong īn? Am, hem sū tle dī ī īn?
More on topic, does the mountain ranger splitting Mor'os from the rest of the land mass on its western border constitute a continent, as with the Urals, or just a subcontinent, as with the Himmilayas?
-
Probably a subcontinent. Again, it'd be helpful if Oz made a quick tectonic plate map/

Yes let me schedule 50 hours in my daily life to do that... Thank you.
-
Sorry. I'll make one if you guys want.

Sorry. I'll make one if you guys want.
NO!
Why do we even need one anyway? It seems pointless in my opinion
BTW Mor'os and I have agreed to call our Continent O
-
So you're Oans?
-
The Feniexian Main Island (somewhat small) is counted as own Mini-Continent named Nekotai (after: neko no tairiku, Continent of the Cat, because cats are very common in Feniexia and the cat is Feniexias national animal). Some say, it is just a part of some supercontinent, but every Feniexian demands that and say that it is an critical offend to their home nation.
-
I like Myroria's "The Isthmus of Bustia" to label my area.
-
Eluvatar and I agreed that Arda was a good name for our continent.
-
I'll live with "O."
*hurries to change Wiki*
-
"Nekotai"? "Cat Big"? Perhaps "Nekoriku", "Catland", would do a bit better? :P
-
The Inglish Isles (Inglo-Scotia, Whereamistan)
Works for me.

Thanks^^
I´m only in my 2nd semester of japanese....
-
Talstadt also agrees with being on Continent 'O'. Makes it alot easier to teach kids now, doesn't it?
-
i would like to suggest our continent be named the Erosian continent. or Eden.
-
can i still get some land even if i don't have 30 posts yet? i just don't want to be left out cuz i'm new.
-
@Vincii: Just stop by at the "Games Subforum". You´ll got postings soon enough^^
Oh, and we don´t let you be left out. But if you don´t own a island etc, you won´t really need to particiate in this thread....
-
oh my bad well just have a nice day then and thnx.
-
I don't think that my continent should be so other country-centric. I mean, countries come and go, but in the end even if Germany or France falls, it's still going to be called Europe. I don't have an idea for a name now, but I think that my subcontinent should have a better name.
-
I kind of see the map as a regional item to be enjoyed by everyone. I don't think the naming should be left only to the RP'ers... :-\
-
I propose my islands be named the Tallent Archipelago
-
Has there been any consensus on a name for the O subcontinent (south of Bustos' isthmus) and the continent with Khaalis and Xyrael and Ryazania?
And what about ocean names? (I'm an island peoples) I've called the sea that borders my archipelago the Merchant Sea with the North and South Merchant Seas, respectively.
-
I asked that m continent be Easteros.
-
well....
-
*push*
What is now with this proposal? No more interested in it?
...
Mor'os? Would "Hiryuuriku" gramatically correct? Are there alternatives?
-
"O" would be cool for our continent. Perhaps where Takasia is can be called "the Horn of O"... :P
-
Seeing the history of the northern continent, I don't support O. I'll think of something.
-
What about calling my continent (Varkour, Annexea, Omagnum, Feniexia & Tagirstan) Arveo?
-
btw, shall we name the oceans too?
-
Egbota for the continent where I'm at
-
how about the "Erient" or "Isia" for the continent we are on?
-
That was decided as "Easteros", I believe. Mercantilist States used it as a name, so I think it's pretty official.
-
I've been using 'Easteros' pretty extensively (used it in multiple RP's: see Llanydern trade conference, Bringing Dominion to Easteros, Easteros Merchant Co./Factbook), similarly, I used O and O-subcontinent (see Ginto Dispute/Downfall of king/the Supremo, Free Press, Factbook).
My islands are the Tallent Archipelago. Never had a name for Vark's or Myroria/Eluvatar peninsula (hadn't needed to RP there yet). Similarly, the sea northeast of my islands is North Merchant Sea and the sea southwest is the South Merchant Sea.
Maybe we should dust off the old RP council and do one last vote?
-
I see no real reason, because there can be no compulsion for RPers to use the same names. There might even be comical misunderstandings because of it, which is natural when varying cultures meet.
-
While that is a good point, in the real world today we have agreed upon names for major bodies of water, continents, archipelagos. And, if we're going to do this world war, we better have some agreed upon names so we all know what we're talking about.
-
I agree that OOC we should have consensus, but a few countries IC don't even measure time in the same system. :-P
-
A time system would be nice too. Considering every thing here isn't really synchronized...
For now, I'll follow the conventions on the names for the continents. If they change, though... >:(
-
Another change...
The Feniexian Isles are just called Hiryuu (flying dragon).
Other nations might say something other, but if anyone says to a Feniexian the Feniexian Continent is not named Hiryuu, is it considered as strong offend against the whole nation.
btw, I somewhy dislike Arveo...not because it sounds bad....it´s just because I know a very dumbass flamer who´s name is similar sounding....
-
Barveo? ;)
-
i think we should urge to create a new map for the oceans and all that. It's vital having areas where the national territorial waters can be involved, there can be other issues to discuss, like people invading territorial waters. Also trade roots should be discussed. I'll have huge ocean trade routes with 'northen taijitu'.
-
Barveo? ;)
Hiryuu sounds better imo :-P
-
eep! Well I say Where i am should be called Rynba
-
most people in my nation call the continent they are on, Greater LLanydern (it will become aparent that there is a vague expansionist tendancy developing, and the rest of the world the lands of Onshii (literally weird food places)
Though I agree it would be good if there were official names
Why don't we have polls where the nations in a continent can vote on which name they want for their continent, also we could do the same for seas but open to everyone
