Spambot
« on: June 18, 2014, 11:46:21 AM »
Amy and I spotted a spambot just now and I removed it. I also tightened security on registration, we'll see if that helps. (The old filter we manually put in was removed by the upgrade to SMF 2.0, but I think the stuff I've added is equally good).

Use this topic to track spambot problems / lack thereof.

... just banned a new registrant that was using a proxy. Guess it didn't really help. Will fiddle with registration further later.

Edit: Turns out I didn't turn the thing I added on... Yeah, I feel smart :-$

When you get a chance, could I be given admin access again? I could have removed that post as soon as I saw it.

Hee hee. You have no idea what meaning those words have for me after they were used in a speech in a ceremony for myself and my colleagues!

Of course I will use it wisely.
